Re: SEGA Knows Fans Want Sonic Adventure 3

Cheski

As noted, Mania was great. Forces looks terrible. Sometimes the fans know what they want I wonder if he is a bit jealous of Mania's success, and this is his way of taking a jab at it. Fans who clearly understood what made Sonic fun made a fun Sonic game. Something Sonic Team hasn't done in a long time.

Re: Soapbox: The SNES Classic Edition Pre-Order Farce Proves Nintendo Hasn't Learned A Thing

I did not get a pre-order, and would not have even had a chance to get one. Like many working professionals, I was sleeping when the pre-orders went live at 3 am. I then had a day full of meetings that prevented me from going turbo on the F5 key. By the time I got back to my office at 3 pm, there was no chance to get one.

And the promise that Toys R Us will have them available on launch day is not really a comfort. I imagine they will be available when the store opens, normally 10 am. I am also guessing that there will be a line forming hours in advance. Since this is on a Friday, I would need to use a vacation day just for the chance to secure one. My job allows me to run errands here and there, but lining up for hours would be pushing it. So again, this approach does not favor someone like me. I want one of these, but not enough to burn a vacation day just for the chance to get one.

I will keep hoping that Nintendo takes all of the software on the NES and SNES Minis, puts them on a Switch cartridge, and sells them for $40. Even better, I would love to see a revamped NES Remix approach that includes the full games as well as additional challenges for the games included in the NES Classic as well as the SNES Classic.

Re: Editorial: The Frustrating Quest for a SNES Mini is Bad Business for Nintendo

The problem with the NES Classic, is that it was never even available for purchase. Sure if I got it during the half hour window it was available to pre-order, I could have had one. Or I could have camped out. But the problem, as mentioned in the article, is that I am a working adult. I can cut out of work to run errands here and there, but when something is only available at 10 am on a business day IF you were one of the 5 people who got there hours ahead of time to claim your spot, there is no possibility of me getting one. Hopefully Star Fox 2 will be available for purchase on Switch, because I do not see myself being able to get the SNES Classic. I would love both the NES Classic and SNES, but I am not about to take a vacation day just so I can turbo F5 or camp out in front of Best Buy.

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About the Super NES Classic Edition?

Cheski

I'll be excited if I can get one, but it won't be a big deal if I don't. Between my SNES cartridges, various VC versions, and remakes/ports, I have all of the games from that list I would want. I can't imagine Star Fox 2 being locked to this, so I would get thhat as a future VC purchase on Switch hopefully.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo at E3 2017?

Cheski

Their Presentation was my favorite portion, although I enjoyed the Treehouse coverage. The Presentation nailed all of the right notes. It showed off some stuff for games coming this year (along with the Odyssey release date), it revealed several new games we will be playing next year, and the Prime 4 and Pokemon announcements for further out was amazing. It made me excited for the rest of 2017, 2018, and possibly beyond with the Pokemon and Prime 4 mentions. In short, it got me excited to be a Switch owner now, and confident I will still be excited a year from now.

I also liked that the Treehouse staff showed up during "Live from E3" segments from various video game websites.

I am most excited for Sony's conference. It is the one that is likely to have unannounced games I am most interested in, and will feature the largest number of announced games I want to see more of. I am looking forward to Nintendo's for Mario alone, and that is the game I am overall most interested in at the moment. I do not expect them to feature much else I am interested in though. I think Nintendo will have a successful E3 within the confines they have spelled out, namely a focus on 2017 games. As such, I do not expect any big announcements, at least ones that would catch my interest. I think Fire Emblem will be the big feature as far as games not launching this year goes. I'm not really interested in the tournaments, but I will watch some of the Treehouse.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch Online Service Promises a New Approach to Retro Gaming

Cheski

$20 for a year is not too bad, but I'll need to keep an eye on what games are offered. I'm not all that interested in playing these online, and I own multiple copies of just about anything I could want on NES. Between the original cartridges, Virtual Console, or ports, I'm not sure I need another way to play NES games. What would sell me though, would be how big the library is, and how well they look on an HD TV.
