I loved the PS1 classic but couldn't get behind the Judge system on the Advance versions. I played the Android version, and it was fun, but I really hope a Switch remaster does more then just porting the Android/IOS version.
As someone who played and finished Zelda 2 both on the NES and on emulation, I would love a remaster that modernizes the game but still has that difficult combat.
I'm ok with there not being a Switch Pro. If I want to play a game in higher frames or res, I will play on PC or PS4. However, if Nintendo's next system is not backwards compatible with Switch games, then I will be pissed. Backwards compatibility is standard with the rest of the gaming industry now. If Nintendo doesn't follow that trend, I think they will lose a lot of sales on their next system.
I did everything in BOTW except get all of the Korok seeds. The side quests are mostly fun and it was neat seeing how Tarry Town developed. I did have to look up a few of the shrines to find them but I am glad I looked them up really. One of the shrines was in a hollowed out mountain that I never would have found on my own.
Once I looked up how many korok seeds there are, I decided it wasn't worth it but I did find enough to max out all of my weapons and armor inventory. So I would say I completed about 99% of the game and DLC. BOTW is my favorite console Zelda and one of my favorite Switch games of all time.
EDIT, also I didn't know who Patricia Summersett was until I clicked her Twitter profile but I usually don't like to know "how the sausage is made" in games or movies.
Might be a little too close to LTTP then I like. Would be more interested if it was doing it's own thing kind of like how Link Between Worlds was. Will be very curious about reviews on release.
Honestly, I don't think genre names in any industry are particularly helpful. I stopped paying attention to music genres a long time ago as it feels like each artist is in their own genre anyway. Also, to me the best movies are ones that don't follow the standard formula of their specific genre.
@GameManAdvance Understandable. For me it started to get interesting around the 20 hour mark. I was determined to play through this since it was the only 3D Zelda game I havent' played and started the lore. I'm about 40 hours into the game now and recently got the bow. The story is very meh so far but I am liking the combat more.
@GameManAdvance While I definitely understand why you would say that it does get more interesting later in the game but still repetitive at times too. I am enjoying but not sure I would recommend it overall.
I also had this problem. Exiting the software and reloading the save fixed it for some reason. Weird how there is no menu option for loading a previous save.
I am really surprised that at least the Wii U Zelda remakes aren't on Switch. I would have bet money that would have happened by now. I bought a 2DS for play OOT again but the screen is too small for my middle-aged eyes so would love for that to come to Switch as well.
@Ravenmaster Some people like to watch a new game to see how it plays if they are on the fence of buying it. You find out a lot of details in the gameplay that the reviews either don't think to mention or skim over.
I love Zelda and don't really expect Nintendo to drop the ball on the Zelda franchise this year. I figured they would add more Zelda stuff later this year unless something really drastic happened.
This is a really good story Kate and I am glad you eventually completed Link to the Past. I played it on the SuperNES back in the day and still play through it every few years.
My first Zelda game was Zelda 2 of all games. It's the side scroller that rarely gets discussed. It was super hard at the time. Partially because the very low character count in messaging made it difficult to know where to go next. it's a fun game if you can appreciate what it was trying to do at the time and can use a guide to get through the awkward parts.
I love user reviews. It is one of my favorite features of Steam and GOG and I think all platforms should have them despite the trouble they cause. I definitely use the user reviews in my decision making when buying a game. User review will often mention details about the game that the pro reviews skim over. ALso user reviews are more likely to play the game the same way I will. THey play the game for enjoyment instead of racing to finish it to meet a deadline.
Seriously, other M is ok. I hated the story but the gameplay was decent. I wouldn't buy it if an HD version was released on the Switch however so take that for what you will.
I would be surprised if I saw Metroid Prime 4 on Switch before 2021. I would happy with an HD version of Prime 1-3 released on Switch. I haven't played Prime 1 in years and missed on Prime 2 and 3.
@Folkloner Many of the games are ports from other systems, especially PC that I have either already played or have no interest in. So outside of Mario and Zelda, there hasn't been much for me to play this year. I am, however, looking forward to Octopath Traveler.
I played Crashlands on Steam and ANdroid. It was fun for about a month but the game has far too little variety and too much killing, looting, making gear, killing, looting, making gear, etc
@Capt_N I only learned about the barrel roll thing about a month ago. I'm hoping that StarFox comes to virtual console on Switch. Sure you can play it on an emulator but I like the idea of playing in on Nintendo hardware.
Did you know Barrel Roll doesn't actually mean what you think it does? What you think of as the barrel roll is actually the aileron roll. StarFox lied to us for 25 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrel_roll
Still a fun game tho. I played many hours on the SNES and N64 version.
Got it during my lunch. Each piece offers 5 armor and a swim speed up. The entire set offers swim dash stamina up. The set is not upgradable at fairy fountains. I'm very meh about it overall.

Re: Poll: Does Anyone Actually Use The Switch Joy-Con Straps?
I always use the plastic straps just because it makes the joycon more comfortable to hold and to use the shoulder buttons.
Re: Monopoly
Please review the Monopoly 2024 Switch game.
Re: Nintendo Life's Switch Summer Survey 2024
Looking forward to the results.
Re: Nintendo Switch "Successor" Announcement Is Coming "This Fiscal Year"
Stupid question time. When does the fiscal year for Nintendo end?

Re: Random: Every Issue Of Nintendo Power Is Now Available To Download
Downloading the torrent now and there are already over 500 seeders. For those having download issues, I would try the torrent.

It's cool but not $170 cool. Pass.
Re: Memory Pak: The Best Puzzles Are The Ones That Make You Want To Throw Things At The TV
@Gitface Same. I cried my eyes out over Brothers. It's still one of my top ten favorite puzzle games.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Hopes For The February Nintendo Direct?
While I would love Metroid Prime Trilogy Remaster on Switch, I also want the Final Fantasy Pixel remaster 1-6 to be released on Switch.

Re: Random: What If Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Looked Like Link's Awakening On Switch?
I would love a modern 2.5 D zelda game done in that art style. Just not a true 3D game like BOTW2.

Re: Guide: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild: How To Find Rex's Armour From Xenoblade Chronicles 2
This sounds slightly disappointing. I was hoping for at least a little bit of a story, not just random crap falls from the sky.
