BAFTA have snubbed Nintendo games (largely) for the past 3 years, completely ignoring the 3DS. There has to be something more to it, it's strange. As much as people say 'I don't care about these awards', BAFTA's are respected and prestigious. It shows how far behind Nintendo are perceived to be.
Personally I'm still enjoying Nintendo games as much as I ever have done.
Look at the complete roster. It's far beyond anyone could have possibly imagined when Smash 4 was announced. People expected 50 characters tops.... Which is huge anyway.
Not only this, we also have amazing figures to buy of every single character. This is above and beyond.
In a way I can understand people being 'disappointed' that their favourite character hasn't made it. However, how ANYONE can actually be annoyed/angered by any of these announcements frankly shows the petulance and selfishness that are a minority of video gamers. Shame on you.
The NX simply HAS to be perfect. Its needs to be powerful, it needs strong first and third support from launch and then SUSTAIN it. The controller needs to be innovative but without unnecessary gimmicks, most importantly it needs to be comfortable. It needs good features like Blu Ray, music player, good apps from launch (as much as many will disagree, a lot of these features do draw a lot of people in).
It needs to be outstanding and to primarily appeal to the gamers at launch. Then release the likes on Nintendogs later on to draw in larger audiences (as well as continuing making top quality titles).
@Captain_Gonru Yes very true. But it's not like that there are many different characters and they're all male, it's just Link. Fuss over absolutely nothing.
@TheFurminator I hear you bro, my reaction after the event was not great to say the least... Especially after the Animal Crossing fiasco, but let's not divulge!!
@TheFurminator I did say that I can understand the concern about the graphics. I did see the comparison... I really think this looks better. You are right, the fact that there is a debate is not good. However I am not overly bothered about it.
They have gone back to the Starfox 64 style which is a huge positive and the missions shown on Treehouse looked very fun, I had completely forgotten about the graphics at that point... so the simplicity wasn't distracting enough to put me off. Regarding gameplay, plenty of journalists at the event came away having really enjoyed it. Of course everyone has the right to complain at what they like, it just baffles me on this occasion, especial since a lot of people though Nintendo wouldn't even revive this franchise over a year ago. People should wait before they dismiss it.
@TheFurminator The graphics really doesn't look worse than Assault, they're certainly fine enough for the game to still be enjoyable. You can't knock it if you haven't tried it. Nintendo would not release a game that controls like crap.
@Mr_Action True, however the Nintendo brand seems to be slightly poisonous to young people. My younger brother is at school and he says he can't even admit to his friends he plays Nintendo titles because he would be on the end of a lot of "banter" (ugh). How can Nintendo appeal to the teenager of today?...
Nintendo would reach a wider audience if they had a console that could handle the "big hitters" like FIFA, COD, Ass Creed. I'm not a huge fan of these grey & brown yearly releases, however more gamers would buy the system if these were available. THEN people who usually only play COD or FIFA will maybe one day try a Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, Smash Bros etc.
I know it's been said time and time again, but the lack of power and the ability to handle big third party titles has limited Nintendo's reach. People only buy Nintendo hardware for Nintendo software.
Remember there will be Nintendo Directs to fill in the gaps. Some of the company's biggest announcements have come out of nowhere (Pokemon X, MajorasMask 3D, New Nintendo 3DS with Xenoblade)
I don't think it's necessarily the graphics that are poor. Space just looked empty, it looked as though space was small and without wonder. Star Fox Assault had a lot going on around you and it was tense (I loved the Airwing sections in that game). It doesn't look dense enough.
@ThomasBW84 Ah that sucks! Fair enough, I am off work so I was lucky to get there in time...
@Grumblevolcano I checked a couple of hours later and they were still available to buy... Perhaps my web browser didn't refresh properly, I don't know.
My top 10 would be 1. The Wonderful 101 2. Mario Kart 8 3. DK Tropical Freeze 4. Splatoon 5. Super Mario 3D World 6. Smash Bros. 7. Bayonetta 2 8. Pikmin 3 9. Assassins Creed: Black Flag 10. Windwaker HD

I like how they randomly decide where to put capital letters in the text
Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Director Defends Absence of Female Playable Characters
Jeeeez nobody questioned the sex of the playable characters when Four Swords came out…
The Character is Link, Link is a guy. It's a Zelda title where you play as Link. PC gone mad.

@ricklongo The same as Starfox 64...
