@Jamotello
Because it's a perfect fit for the 3DS and the 3DS systems are still a relevant part of the gaming industry (especially for Nintendo). To have 2 Metroids on 2 different systems is great. That way more people are pleased (even if Prime 4 isn't coming out any time soon – probably late 2019).
I think a 2D styled Metroid game works best on 3DS. To have the map available at all times is a massive plus, especially for a classic Metroid. No more pausing constantly to look at the map. No more wondering "was that 3 rooms or 4", "do I have to go left or was that the next room". With 3D Metroids it doesn't matter since the map is too complex to take a brief look at it.
I'd also imagine that the 3D effect will work pretty well with the game and make it look better.
@MarcelRguez It's not about percentage. It's about the fun you have with a game. Not matter if you complete it to 100% or 70%. There are many games out there where 100% are not worth it at all because a lot of stuff in those RPG's is boring. XC (Wii) was boring as hell besides the story (and it was to long, the gameplay, variety wasn't good enough to motivate for such a long time). So don't focus on something silly like percentages. Just do the things that are fun and don't bother with pointless time consuming stuff.
Looks just like VR in general. Interesting and fun to play for about 30 minutes. And than you just want to play a game that doesn't give you headaches, neck pain, eye pain and whatever.
@Bengyman The 3DS is just not powerful enough. That players wouldn't care about making sacrifices in terms of performance doesn't mean that devs are happy with tenuous running games. Also it might not run at all on the 3DS. Runbow was made with Unity, the old 3DS doesn't support Unity – I think. And I would assume that a completely new development for a 3DS version would be too much for the team.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
How can they be an scourge on gaming if they have – as you said – nothing to do with gaming? And if you don't like them just don't buy those figures and ignore them. No need to be pissed and angry.
But I guess that's the modern gamer. Always pissed about the tiniest thing, everything and nothing. Just for the sake of complaining.
@sillygostly It's up to the player to decide what's good and worth the money. It is not Nintendo to decide that. So it's totally ok that those crap games are available on the eShop. Players just need to ignore them and move on to some good games. There are tons of great games on the eShop after all.
@IAmDeclanJay Pikmin 3, Smash, Mario Maker, Splatoon, Nintendo Land, Affordable Space Adventures, Swords & Soldiers 2, Stealth Inc. 2, Runbow, Rayman Legends, Don't Starve, Wind Waker HD, The Wonderful 101 and more. There are tons of games which are using the GamePad to deliver a new, unique and/or extended gaming experience.
@Zach777 Affordable Space Adventures, Runbow, FAST, Swords & Soldiers 2, Shantae, Shovel Knight, Stealth Inc. 2, Don't Starve and many more are the eShop at it's finest.
Swords & Soldiers 2 and Stealth Inc. 2 are great games. Especially in multiplayer thanks to the gamepad. Curve really did some great and unique stuff with the co-op in Stealth Inc. 2 and the Level Editor is a nice bonus.
It looks good. I will definitively get it once it is released in Europe. If you're interested you should get it now. Because it will cost more when the first update pack comes out.
But It was ok too. It was like Damon Baker talking about inides in previous NA Directs. I think it's nice that Nintendo involves more employees. Not just focusing on the main guys.
@RupeeClock
Well the Nintendo E3 experience was not just about the Digital Event and therefore it was good. Smash Direct/DLC, EarthBound Beginnings, Nintendo World Championship, Digital Event,Treehouse Livestreams (incl. indies like SteamWorld Heist, FAST, Runbow, Typoman). You can't just focus on the Digital Event and tear Nintendo's E3 performance apart.
So of course this Direct did not have more content. But the Direct was good. Some good and new stuff.
@Cosats
The "british guy" is no british guy. Satoru Shibata is the CEO of Nintendo of Europe. He always presented the european parts of the Directs. And he is damn awesome. He has a familiar style to Iwata - authentic, likeable and he doesn't take things to serious.
@ spizzamarozzi
You get 50-80% discount on the eShop. But this game is not old. 50% would be ridiculous. It is totally worth 20 bucks. And there is also free DLC coming this week.
@Sligeach
This attitude - to wait till the price drops heavy - will kill many devs/indies. You want something unique, high quality and something that is made for the hardware? Than you have to pay a bit more but still a reasonable price. It's a shame to see a loss of value of so many great games after just a few weeks/month (on every system).
But well, Nintendo fans... They don't want to pay for quality if it's not made by Nintendo. They rather bye 20-30 years old games for 5-10 bucks instead of new ones...
I highly recommend Affordable Space Adventures. A great and unique experience, dark atmosphere, fun gameplay. One of the best indie games and best co-op experience since Portal 2.
@ULTRA-64
Well you could take a look at the Miiverse. Few posts could indicate bad/not so well sales figures. But I guess ASA sold good enough because there will be a free DLC. ASA is one of the best games of this generation. Especially in coop. I would say it is the best coop experience since Portal 2.
But it's still sad that many Nintendo fans prefer to buy old VC games instead of new great and unique ones. It's especially odd that they're complaining about how much some games costs but then buying VC games for 7-10€/$ which they have already played many times. And at the same time they're screaming for new games. That makes no sense to me.
@boatie
Shovel Knight was supposed to be on PC, 3DS and Wii U. So it never was exclusive. Also it never was Nintendo exclusive in terms of consoles. No one said it would be just on Nintendo consoles/handhelds. It was kinda obvious that the game would be on other systems as well.
Most of the indie games don't sell that well. What about Swords & Soldiers 2 and Affordable Space Adventures and many more? Awesome games and some with a unique gaming experience but not so awesome sales figures.

Re: GameStop Joins In With Premature Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders in Europe
@GauBan
That "guarantee" is not a true guarantee though. A pre-order does not equal a sale contract. So the retailer can always cancel the order.
