@Yosher If the western version had portrayed the “crying scene” in the same way the Japanese version does, it would have felt extremely out of place and it would have practically ruined the game for me. Super glad they didn’t make her do it that way, because that’s very much a Japanese-specific style of acting.
China is by far the worst offender in the world when it comes to human rights (and animal rights and ecological protection, if you care about those things). I couldn’t care less about their faux-outrage over something as innocuous as this. They fly off the handle over literally everything, and it’s generally about their outsized ego and the perpetual demand for unearned absolute respect.
But no, let’s totally continue prostrating ourselves before the nation that refuses to even acknowledge, let alone apologize for, creating coronavirus and covering it up for months while spreading it all over the world.
@SwitchForce That’s not what double jeopardy means. That’s also not how search warrants work. They don’t turn a blind eye to incriminating evidence just because it was uncovered through a search warrant for something else. If the police execute a search warrant because they suspect you’re dealing drugs out of your house, they’re not going to act like they didn’t see anything when they incidentally discover bodies in your basement.
My guess is that this guy got a light sentence because he was a minor when he committed his crimes, was a first-time offender, and the kiddie stuff they found on his computer was below a certain threshold of severity/quantity. But he’s definitely gotten a good start on the road to becoming an even more massive piece of crap.
@Tourtus Buddy. I’m not talking about MY personal view of hacking. I’m talking about the views of this person. It’s safe to assume that he didn’t care if what he was doing was wrong.
Also, he didn’t steal anything other than some information that he didn’t benefit from and that clearly didn’t harm Nintendo. Not defending it, but this is pretty benign, compared to the types of attacks companies like Nintendo face like every day.
@Tourtus No, I 100% mean amoral. When you’re referring to a person, amoral means they have no concern for whether or not the thing they’re doing is right or wrong. Speaking strictly about the hacking thing. In regards to the other thing, then yes, I’d definitely say that’s immoral.
@Little_Squee Legend? What he did wasn’t particularly sophisticated. Many, many people can do what he did, they just choose not to because they’re not morons/amoral pieces of
@TG16_IS_BAE You seem like an unhappy person. Did you lose your job or something? What made you decide to join this site with the explicit purpose of dedicating half your life to spreading your own personal misery here? We get it, you have Nintendo issues. That's your problem, not ours. You are not owed agreement, and this is one of the last places you should expect to find it.
@TG16_IS_BAE “It’s like a Nintendo cult is trying to shout us down.”
Do you suck at reading or do you just enjoy being obtuse? Look at the address bar at the top of your screen. Look at what it says up there. Look at the header on the homepage of this website.
You’re on a site called Nintendo Life. Let that sink in, and then crawl back to PushSquare or wherever else your natural environment is, because this place clearly ain’t meant for you.
@TG16_IS_BAE I’ve been a Nintendo fan since like 1989. Nintendo’s health as a company is important to me because it translates to them continuing to exist and giving me more of what I love, that being Nintendo systems and games. So yeah, I definitely care about their financial viability.
@twztid13 No it wasn’t. There’s no mystery or nuance in his comment. His claim was literally “36/40 translates to 6/10.” Please, explain to me how that means anything other than what it explicitly says.
@koekiemonster Except no. 36 is 90% of 40. As in 36 out of 40 is equivalent to a score of 90 out of 100, aka 9 out of 10. Since each of the reviewers gave the game a 9/10, this percentage would be the same regardless of the number of reviewers. And 6 is obviously 60% of 10. There is a massive difference between these two sets of numbers.
@TG16_IS_BAE I mean, this is Capcom showing us a very specific/limited slice of their unreleased game so we can get a general idea of the gameplay, so I don't think we can really assess the whole game based on this. I'll reserve judgment until the thing comes out.
@TG16_IS_BAE Weird, I felt like this series saw some of its emptiest spaces on the 3DS. Maybe not in terms of monsters specifically, but in terms of everything else that would make a game visually interesting to run around in.
@TG16_IS_BAE You’re joking, right? You clearly haven’t played many games in this series if you think big empty spaces aren’t common in it, or if you think this game is more empty than any of the previous ones, World being like the only exception.
@Azuris Copyright aside? For the simple fact that it harms a core component of Nintendo’s business. But if we’re talking copyright, even if they did use all their own code, Nintendo could sue them to make them prove it’s their own code, and the cost of that defense alone could ruin them.
Abundantly easy to see why they would ditch this. And honestly they should keep their fingers crossed that it’s enough to keep Nintendo from coming after them for any money they may have made in that short amount of time and crushing them into dust even if it is a piddling sum that they brought in. Because even if it wasn’t their aim, this treads dangerously close to the worst kind of piracy possible.
@Jakiboy Oh my god, good one. You totally got me. And I’m so wound up over this. This brief exchange of banal comments about a video game youtuber. On a site called nintendo life. This is very serious.
@Divinebovine There’s a massive difference between “fan” and “fanboy.” They can’t be used interchangeably. I say with complete confidence that AVGN doesn’t have fanboys. That’s just something people say online to dismiss other people’s opinions that they don’t agree with.
@Jakiboy He’s been around a lot longer than that, and for good reason. And that’s a pretty reductive summary of his videos. But thanks, I always love the “I don’t like this thing so others should not like it” comments. Never feels pointlessly condescending or anything.
I had a ton of fun with it and the technical issues had no real negative impact on me.
I think people need to think about what they’re playing and what system it’s running on. We were never going to get a top-tier performance out of this thing. I’m grateful for the simple fact that this game even exists. That said, if you can’t say the same, just don’t buy it. Problem solved.
Seen this before. Pretty confident Nintendo were well aware of this thing, given when and where it was displayed. But I doubt it had a lot to do with the conception of MK Live, given the obvious differences (augmented reality fx being one huge one).
@Ardisan Uhhhhhh. You’re joking, right? Do YOU know how to read? Here’s a direct quote from the comment in question: “Wow, Sega actually had the balls to put out a double pack of the worst super monkey ball and sonic game in one.“
Please tell me how that translates to what you claim it says.
@Dracavius Because there’s a large subset of people who think that the law should only protect the property of the have-nots. If you’re a large company or a rich person, it doesn’t matter how honestly you came about your success or how good your contributions/products are, you’re no longer morally entitled to the simple act of retaining complete ownership over your own stuff. According to some people, anyway.
@orangepanda If you’re not Nintendo or someone they’ve licensed to do so, making a Zelda game is not fair use. It’s not transformative. It’s not tribute. It’s not even a clone. It’s just obvious infringement. This is such a simple concept.
But I don’t even get why people want to die on this hill anyway. Why is it the zenith of creativity in some people’s minds to just make a fake Nintendo game? Why should we applaud this kind of mediocrity? If you’re so confident in your game design, build your own original world and characters and flog it to the masses for whatever price you want. But no creator, rich or poor, owes you the privilege of using and distributing property they created/own. It’s not about being anti-consumer, it’s about being pro-original-creator.
@Thirteen1355 Maybe it’s different where you live? But I live in the US and I’ve already gotten three individual joycons with stick drift repaired for free, post-warranty. Regardless, there are places that will repair drifting sticks for like $15, so throwing it in the trash is pretty stupid.
@CubicPirate You understand the fact that just because you like something that doesn’t mean you have ownership over it or a claim to it, and that’s a sign of a conscience, in my opinion. It’s one thing to say you’ve partaken in some unauthorized bootleg product even though you know it’s not a protected right to do so, but it’s profoundly irksome to me when people act like Nintendo are practically violating their civil liberties simply for observing basic IP law in relation to their own works.
I don’t understand the whiney, entitled, crybaby attitude of gamers. Come up with your own sh*t and start giving it away for free, if that’s your thing. But don’t act like Nintendo owes you the privilege of using their property and distributing it at will as though you somehow have ownership over it.
You don’t get to tell other people how to use the stuff they make/own, or to steal it when you don’t like the way they use it and redistribute it under your own terms. This is kindergarten-level common sense.
@Doofenshmirtz Nintendo have been fixing joycons free of charge about as long as Switch has been out, even when they’re no longer under warranty. You literally just have to start a claim on their site and they’ll give you a free shipping label and fix it for free and send it back to you. So that’s fake news.
@lighteningbolt79 It’s a big deal because “gamers” prefer to spend more time complaining about games than actually playing them. As if raging/complaining is itself a game.

@Yosher Yeah that's probably true, the animation was obviously made by Japanese devs with Japanese acting in mind. Fair point.

@Gamerdudesteel Yikes, that’s a really cringey comment. Even worse than I’d expect from someone with the name “gamer dude”.
