Re: Teardown Suggests The Switch OLED Dock Is 4K 60fps-Ready And 'Future Proof'

ArceusSupremacy

@SteB83 no Nintendo will not do that. If that was the case, it would have heard rumours about it.

All rumours point towards new hardware.
Why sell you a premium dock for 200 if they can sell you a premium console for 400?

Also, one of the main reasons for this possible Pro would be allowing exclusive, bigger games. Those would then not run on handheld.

So I definitely don't think Nintendo will release a Pro dock only.

ArceusSupremacy

@sanderev well I do think the newer rumours coming from Nate and Bloomberg are pretty compelling, my personal opinion. I don't see why they would lie about this.

I think it doesn't make sense for it to be a next-gen Switch, because the Switch is so sucessful right now, thinking in these old patterns just because it has always been this way, doesn't really make sense for me.

According to the rumours, the "Pro" was intended for this year, and definitely has to be released soon (like early 2023 at the absolute latest) because even 3rd parties have spent money deving for it, if you wait longer there is no point in releasing it at all since it will be outdated. I personally think this all makes sense.

Nintendo could make the Switch like iPhone as speculated and just get rid of the generation thing, this would have many advantages for Nintendo.

Re: Teardown Suggests The Switch OLED Dock Is 4K 60fps-Ready And 'Future Proof'

ArceusSupremacy

Well, that's interesting, but could mean nothing.

1 - The system still doesn't support 4K, maybe Nintendo could update it, in that case all Switches MIGHT be able to run idk, Snipper Clips at 4K, but that doesn't do much. I'm also not sure if this would even be possible, it depends on the chips in the current Switches. I personally don't believe this possibility.

2 - If Nintendo is future-proofing this dock, this would suggest that the upscaling hardware would be inside the Switch, opposed to being in the dock as most people speculated. In this case, maybe the Switch could utilize upscaling in handheld mode to run bigger games at f.e. 360p and upscaling to 720p? If yes, the system would need a hella of a battery, and a really excellent cooling system, I imagine. Otherwise, there's no reason to put the upscaling hardware on the tablet itself I think.

What I think about all this: I personally do believe the "SwitchPro" was intended for this year and got delayed because of the semiconductor crisis. Maybe they just kept the doc the way it was intended for the Pro, because they already purchased the chips and cables? Or maybe they want to sell the Pro without a dock, you just use your old one or buy it separately? Like they sould that one 3DS model without a charger? But I don't think this is a good idea.
Overal to make it clear, I just don't think these current Switch models will ever run at 4K, so the 4K support on the OLED dock really doesn't mean much right now, that's just my personal opinion.
Maybe Nintendo just wanted to have the best possible tech in there, the newer HDMI tech offers other advantages outside from 4K.

Re: Digital Foundry Explores The Potential Of 4K DLSS On A Next-Gen Switch

ArceusSupremacy

I don't see Nintendo doing a Switch Pro with DLSS.

I think leakers have legit information, they just interpreted it wrong.

The DLSS one is probably a next gen Switch that is not coming out before 2024 or even beyond if the Switch keeps selling.

Hey, I would like to have it already, I can't stand the No More Heroes 3 and Arceus, I want games that look good, but I don't see it happening in the near future unfortunately.

Re: Switch OLED Trailer Shows Tweaked Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Footage

ArceusSupremacy

@jamesthemagi the new one looks much more natural. Look at the trees, the leaves looked ridiculous before.

If you like oversaturated fair enough, many people think that looks cheap and prefer this more natural color palette and lighting. It's also more faithful to the original color palette, which is important because it gives you a very different vibe.

@Jacob1092 got all offend just because I said your dear game is garbage?
I could say the same about your comment.
I'm happy this game isn't as successful as many predicted, and I like to express my relief.

Musou is one of the most garbage game genres there is, FIFA has evolved more in the last 10 years than all Musou games, AoC has the EXACT same garbage mission structure the very first Pirate Warriors had in 2010, just with better mechanics, I'll give you that. Musou has either to change or disappear, we deserve better games.

Re: Introducing Pokémon Legends: Arceus, An Open-World Prequel To Diamond And Pearl

ArceusSupremacy

@mariomaster96 you don't understand the technical aspect of it.

The framerate of the animation is not jaggy (well it is, but not for the reasons you think), they're using a system of when the GPU is overused, the models will change into animated 2D sprites, it's called billboarding, it's not all of the time as you can clearly see in the trailer. This is very common in gaming, Mario Odyssey does that. And these sprites have a limited amount of frames, with the Switch's horribly small memory, it would be impossible to have a 30 fps high quality sprites animation.

It's a perfect compromise, it's a lot better than having Pokemon pop out of nowhere, also, the scenery looks a lot more detailed, I'm impressed that this is even possible on Switch together with all the Pokemon that have to be drawn by the CPU simultaneously. Also, I suspect this was done with the next Switch model in mind, so yes, the performance on the base model problably won't be very good.

We will see how they handle the billboard range, but it can't be worse than Sword and Shield.

Re: Switch Ranked Greatest Handheld Of All Time By UK Newspaper The Guardian

ArceusSupremacy

@Razer disagree. The Switch is 4 years old. The Switch already has a much better library than any portable ever.
You have great exclusives, the best game of all time in the opinion of many, ports of almost all classic big franchises from Gens 4-7, GTA is the only huge franchise still completely missing.

I don't think for example that the DS had that many good exclusives from Nintendo even for the time, I'll never be a fan o New SMB for example.

Re: Feature: What Can We Expect From Pokémon’s 25th Anniversary?

ArceusSupremacy

I think DP Remakes will disappoint us all.
I think the leaked images that show that simplistic art-style are legit, like the ones from Let's Go that no one believed.

I can't imagine a studio as incompetent as GF doing Sinnoh, the biggest region in the franchise, in the more organic 3D-style like in SWSH in like 3 years (considering that they always work on multiple project, so I assume they started Sinnoh remakes after Let's Go?) , if they took 3 years to do Galar, the by far worst and most shallow region of the franchise.

Simplistic art-styles is acceptable for the Let's Go series as essentially the gap fillers that they are, but not for full on remakes, they should always use the best tech possible.

Re: Poll: Pokémon Sword And Shield Launched A Year Ago, Has Your Opinion On Them Changed?

ArceusSupremacy

@Thundertron55 short development time is not an excuse.
Pokémon is the highest grossing franchise in the world.
Game Freak should found a new studio to handle remakes and Let's Go series, so the studio can concentrate on one game for three years, which for a game as simplistic and that already follows an established formula, is enough.

Game Freak is embarrassingly badly managed, why didn't they get more third parties studios to help them out when they saw how bad SwSh was, like in 2018?

Because they don't care. That's the only reason, they have the money to do anything they want, and I'm not talking about all the employees individually, I'm sure they love what they do and want to do a good job, but management is holding them back.

Also, Masuda clearly stated in an interview that Nintendo or TPC never put pressure on Game Freak, so it's just their own fault, stop defending Game Freak, they're a badly structured studio, with laughable, beginner level technical knowledge, they need to change. GF is just an embarrassment for Nintendo.

Re: Poll: Pokémon Sword And Shield Launched A Year Ago, Has Your Opinion On Them Changed?

ArceusSupremacy

@BenAV thanks! I don't understand why so many people say they like SwSh soundtrack, I think it's absolute TRASH.
The melodies are between fine and good, the problem is the instrumental composition, it sounds like the biggest, cheapest syntetizer trash handheld music, I tried to listen to it but I just couldn't, my ears just bleed. Even Let's Go's soundtrack was orchestrated!

Re: Poll: Pokémon Sword And Shield Launched A Year Ago, Has Your Opinion On Them Changed?

ArceusSupremacy

@BenAV I cannot understand people defending a game that has animations and cutscenes worse than many Gamecube games, have a world design and progression as boring as some of the worst RPGs ever, I personally can't remember playing an RPG with a world as lienar ans shallow as Galar, and all this from the highest grossing media franchise ever.

I understand when people say they still had fun with it, I had to, I have almost 300 hours now thanks to grinding in the wild area and raids, but the main story was just terrible.

If you consider how much money this franchise has, you could argue SwSh is the single most embarrassing gamer ever made.
