@Lone_Beagle I agree. I purchased a 128GB thumb drive for my Wii U a couple years ago. I have 160+ digital/retail games for my Wii U and while the thumb drive is about full, the system memory is still available. I had my Xbox One S (500GB) less than 6 months before I had to buy an external hard drive. The thing that I find funny is a lot of these people who bitch about having to buy a sd card or the extra $10 for a cartridge are also the ones who buy the $180+ special editions of a game that 6 months later can be bought for $60.
@Samus7Killer Define what you feel makes the Switch version of any game worse. I have a 4k TV, 4k computer, Xbox One S, had a PS4 and have a Switch (among many other systems). Short of game crippling bugs or huge drops in frame rate, I'll take the ability to play my games "where I want to" and not have to be tethered to a TV. Pretty much any game that I buy that is multiplat and on the Switch, I buy the Switch version. Prettier graphics simply are not enough to force me to sit in front of the TV when I play. This is a mobile world now, we do everything on the go. Being forced to play your games on a TV now feels very 1970's to me.
@joey302 A little cream or milk for coffee cost next to nothing. Adding to the size of the internal memory to the Switch would be expensive and not needed by a large portion of the user base. Sounds like you just want something to whine about.
People need to stop whining and female dogging about the small things. I put a 64GB Micro SD card in my Switch the day I got it. I have 26 games and have 23.6GB free on the system and 34GB free on the micro sd card. I paid $25 for the Sandisk card...people are seriously going to blah about this?!?
@XCWarrior The stock 500GB on a PS4/One is not "tons of space" when you have mandatory installs of 40, 50, 60GB games. I bought a 128GB thumb drive for my Wii U and have 150+ retail and digital games for that. I had to add a 2TB hard drive to my Xbox One after I had about 8 retail games.
@Drommajin You mean like having to own a hard drive in the PS4 & Xbox One with enough free space should be optional with retail games too...oh, wait. I had to purchase an external hard drive for my One due to mandatory installs of retail games. How is this worse?!?
@Samus7Killer Anyone who thinks that releasing a 2DS is cannibalizing the Switch is an idiot. Two different products/markets/price points. I guess that car manufactures should only sell one model of car so that the others don't "cannibalize" the other.
@Yasaal ...and the Switch can do some games at 1080p, 60fps. That doesn't mean that it can do everything at that rez/fps. If you don't understand that, then you simply don't understand how the technology in any computer, phone, tablet or game system works.
@Yasaal Most of the games on those two systems do not achieve 1080p 60fps, and they're big boxes with big power supplies. Do you really expect something the size of a large phone to be equivalent? For something that you can play anywhere it's truly amazing.
Awesome game, 60fps, looks like it’s going to be a blast to play and I can take it anywhere with me, but it’s only 720p? My PS4 Pro can display a solid white screen at 4k, 60fps, so this game sucks…derp. For those of you who have an impairment, that was sarcasm.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE By your logic, any multiplat game is a port. Looks like after 3 1/2 years there aren't too many real games on the Xbox One or PS4 then either.
I sold my PS4 about the time that the Switch was released due to it never getting played. I still have my 3DS, Wii U, Xbox One S, gaming PC, iPad and now a Switch. Since the Switch has come out, I've bought a lot of games, but none on the Xbox, PC or iPad. If a game is multiplat and on the Switch, that is where I'll buy it. I can play while sitting at my desk, on the family room TV or while I'm out and about. I do not have any intention on being completely tethered to a TV for gaming ever again. While I will still play games on the other "TV" systems and might even buy a Pro and X at some point, most of my gaming going forward will be off the TV.
@gatorboi352 Multiplats will never achieve what can be done when a game is built from the ground up for a specific console. For the people who care, the Switch will get some truly beautiful games and at 1080p. I care more that they're fun and have a smooth fps. Once you've achieved that, better looking is icing on the cake.
@improviser ...and not everyone wants a system that keeps you tethered to a TV either. Why do you think that smart phone and tablets exploded? There was no longer a need to stay clued to your computer/monitor.
@KappaBeta "Wii U got abandoned for a console we didn't ask for, as well..." Define "we". I for one am far more happy already with the Switch than I ever was with the Wii U. Maybe you enjoy being tethered to your TV, but I'm a busy person who like to fit things in on the go. If I have the time to sit on the couch, I have my 4k TV and gaming PC that plays nearly everything in 4k at 60fps.
I currently own a 3DS, Wii U, Switch, Xbox One S, iPad and a beast of a gaming computer. I would have considered this on Switch, but with too little free time to sit tethered to a TV set, I rarely game on the computer, Wii U or Xbox One anymore. So, I won't be buying this game or probably anything else from Capcom.
This does seriously feel like Capcom taking a poo on the MH fans that have been playing it on 3DS for years, the profits of which have helped keep Capcom afloat.
I owned Sengoku on my dedicated 4-slot back in the day. It's a great game and I'll definitely be downloading that. Arms is coming in physical form for me though.
I'd have to see them in person before deciding. I bought the Neon Joy-Con Switch which I hesitated on do to the pictures that I'd seen. No picture does them justice including the picture on the system box. Pictures just can't seem to capture the pop, especial on the Red one.
So, I get that cartridges (game cards) cost more to manufacture than DVD's/Blu-rays, but why is the Switch version $10 more than the Vita version which is also on a cartridge?!? I'd like to hear their reasoning for this.
I find it funny that in this day and age where it cost two people $30-$40 to see a movie with concession that last 1 1/2 hours, that people would squawk at a fun video game being $40 ($32 w/prime or BBGC). I tend to base the value on how much entertainment it provides and for how long. Sadly, there have been plenty of AAA games at $69.99 that fall far short.
I have this game being delivered today and will get a chance to try it out in local multiplayer sometime this weekend. Maybe I'm just old school in that I like to have people in the same room playing a game in co-op or vs. Now, if you've played the dozens of incarnations of this over the years, I guess I understand not purchasing it. I haven't played it since the SNES, so I'm looking forward to it.
@NEStalgia You're going to want to add Sony back into that list. When the Wii was announced it gained a ton of buzz because of the motion controls. Sony then felt it necessary to add sixaxis to it's DualShock 3 controller followed by their Move controllers. Sony has never really been first with anything truly innovative in the video game market and has relied mostly on copying others. In the beginning it worked because of their marketing might. Since then they've somehow managed to form a rabid following. I've owned each of their systems, yet none of them were my favorite for each of their respected generations.
@Nintendoforlife The problem is 4 million Switches would cost Nintendo about $1 Billion to have manufactured. At 1 million units produced a month, that would mean that most of that $1 Billion would be due on terms to suppliers before the first unit would be sold. Now, lets say the Switch didn't take off, would you want to be responsible for $1 Billion in inventory that isn't moving very quickly?!?
@Equinox The system has been out for 2 months, 3 weeks. They sold 2.74 million Switches in the month of March. They've been having approximately 1 million units manufactured a month and have been selling about 250 thousands units a week. Japan is typically a smaller market for something like this. North American and Europe have higher sales than what Japan does and they too been sold out. If you believe that this is all Nintendo's fault and they should be able to flip a switch and have systems in all stores, you simple don't understand manufacturing at all.
@Nintendoforlife I see a lot of comments like yours, but it's just not that simple. Nintendo doesn't manufacture the Switch, just as Sony doesn't manufacture the PS4 or Microsoft the Xbox One. The manufacture (Foxconn) has dedicated resources allocated to the production of the Switch. They have only so much room to "turn on" more production. Plus you have all of the component suppliers that would now have to also increase production. It just not as simply as flipping a Switch...it takes time.
@Equinox When you're having a million of something produced a month and have demand for say 2 million a month, there are a lot of factors that can get in the way of production meeting demand. This is far more advanced than just hiring some extra help.
@Nintendoforlife I completely agree. Sadly, when you're having a million of something manufactured a month and have demand for two million a month, increasing production to meet demand can take time. It's more involved than just making a phone call and seeing it's effect immediately.
@Nintendoforlife Splatoon 2 will boost Switch sales in Japan nicely. As for building up stock for December...it's not happening right now. No manufacture is going to sit on inventory for 6 months as it would cost a fortune. At this point, they're selling every system made. Let hope that they can get Foxconn to ramp up production enough ahead of the holidays so that the system is more readily available for Christmas shoppers.
@crimsontadpoles That's fine, but have fun walking out the door and down to the park playing your PS4. Now, look at the price of a quality tablet or phone. The price of the Switch is not out of line with those at all.
@GravyThief There are more and more 3rd party accessories coming out for the Switch too. People need to keep in mind that even the retail stores don't make squat on video game system sales. They make most of the money on the accessories and to a lesser extend games. So, Nintendo makes a small profit on the Switch, the stores makes a very small if at all profit from the Switch. Nintendo makes a larger percent profit from a Pro Controller, but so does the store. It's that way with a lot of products. Why do you think that you can buy a new inkjet printer with starter ink for about the same price as just the replacement ink cartridges? That's where the money's at.
@RedMageLanakyn The age of the Vita only makes it's point of comparison more valid. There are huge markups on accessories for all the systems...period! For anyone that absolutely "has to have" the extra Switch dock, pay the price and stop female dogging. I swear, everyone's a crybaby nowadays.
@BornInNorway81 ...and do you really believe that a 64GB Vita memory card cost anywhere near the $109.99 that it sells for ... or a leather smart case for an iPad Air cost even close to $79. All video game, tablet, phone manufactures make a lot of money on the "extras". It's just how it is. Complaining about just one of the companies is silly. I find it funny that few people were upset when the PS4/Xbox One came out and they had to buy a second controller for $60 just to play a local two player game. At least the Switch allows for it on most games right out of the box.
@Menchi187 Hmm, I'm an adult that has owned my own business for 12 years after coming off a 20 year career as a manufacturing engineer. Please enlighten me on how I lack common sense. You being a good little troll doesn't equate to you having more common sense.
@Menchi187 How dare a company actually sell something for a profit! They should be ashamed of themselves. Don't they know that all younger people are self entitled spoiled brats that expect everything for nothing!
