Update: UK prices added!
Here's a little early treat for our EU readers, the Nintendo Download Update details. Due to the upcoming Ascension Day public holiday in a number of European countries the press release has been sent a day early in some territories, and the ever-generous Daan Koopman has given us a copy of the Dutch PR. We'll update with UK prices once the press release for the country lands on 25th May. Until then, let's get to the details for this week's EU DL update.
Nintendo Switch Retail Downloads
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (Capcom, £34.99 / €39.99) - This Capcom release pitches itself as the ultimate edition of the classic fighting game, with a couple of tweaked characters, the full original roster and the option to switch between a new and retro presentation. Unfortunately the new content, including the infamous Way of the Hado mode, doesn't offer much - you can see what we think in our work-in-progress Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers review; we're currently waiting for the online servers to go live. Available from 26th May.
Disgaea 5 Complete (NIS America, £49.99 / €59.99) - This long awaited release of the enormous and quirky strategy RPG includes all of the DLC from the original release. It's willingly written and designed for older players, is utterly bonkers yet at the same time offers impressive depth in gameplay. We enjoyed the craziness and complexity of this one in our Disgaea 5 Complete review. Available from 26th May.
Nintendo Switch eShop
The King of Fighters '99 (HAMSTER, £6.29 / €6.99) - Notable for introducing the "Striker" system - where support characters can leap in to assist your team - the 1999 entry in the long-running fighting series also put new fighter K' in the spotlight. While it's perhaps not as fondly remembered as its forerunner, King of Fighters '98, this instalment is still an excellent brawler. As an 'ACA' release it'll also have the usual batch of extensive menus and customisation options.
3DS Retail Download
Cooking Mama: Sweet Shop (Rising Star Games, £29.99 / €29.99) - The latest arrival in this series takes the charming action into a Patisserie, so this may be a good way to enjoy that career without the morbid obesity that comes from sampling all of your own creations. It's perhaps not quite as good as some of its predecessors, but we still had good things to say in our Cooking Mama: Sweet Shop review.
3DS Retail Pre-Purchase
Farming Simulator 18 (Focus Home Interactive, £22.49 / €26.99 until 6th June, normally £24.99 / €29.99)
3DS eShop
Drancia Saga (CIRCLE Entertainment, £4.99 / €5.00) - From the developers of games like Fairune and more recently Kamiko, this is a 'frantic action' combat game with serious retro vibes that brings to mind a host of classics from the 8- and 16-bit eras; if you own the relevant games there are also guest appearances from the likes of Gunman Clive. We'll let you know what we think in a review.
I am an Air Traffic Controller Airport Hero Narita (Sonic Powered Co., Ltd, £13.49 / €14.99) - Not exactly a snappy name for this title, it's a follow-up to a Hawaii equivalent. This time you manage the Tokyo-Narita Airport, worrying about safely guiding planes in the air and on the crowded runways; we weren't particularly impressed in our review.
Mononoke Forest (Gamedo, £3.59 / €3.99) - This appears to be a lighthearted sim game in which you raise and utilise 'mononoke' creatures to manage and enhance your village, while also fending off monsters.
3DS eShop DLC
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Mila's Bounty 2 (Nintendo, free)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: The Inner Sanctum (Nintendo, €3.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Wealth Before Health (Nintendo, €3.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Lords of the Grave (Nintendo, €3.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the Destrier (Nintendo, €1.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the Titan (Nintendo, €1.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the Skylord (Nintendo, €1.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the Sorceress (Nintendo, €1.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the Faerie (Nintendo, €1.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the Ogre (Nintendo, €1.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the Marksman (Nintendo, €1.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the Savant (Nintendo, €1.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the Queen (Nintendo, €1.99)
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia AOC: Altar of the King (Nintendo, €1.99)

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition (Nordic Games, £14.99 / €19.99) - A pleasing arrival for those that enjoyed Darksiders II in the early days of Wii U and want to experience the first game on the system. Here's hoping this delivers a strong version of a game that's been on a number of wishlists since its original announcement.
Wii U Virtual Console
Rayman Advance (Ubisoft, £6.29 / €6.99) - The Game Boy Advance returns to the Wii U with this Ubisoft title, in this case a portable iteration of the PlayStation original.
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (Ubisoft, £6.29 / €6.99) - This was a portable take on a home console game, but unlike that iteration this is a 2D platformer in a similar vein to the original game in the series.

Nothing for me this week, until SFII gets a discount
Nothing for me this week, either.
Its not a day early, its two days late.
I shall forever remain bitter that the details aren't out on a Monday, and that Orange Hooch has disappeared from shop shelves again...
Enjoying the couple hours I've put into Disgaea 5 so far. IT's my first one. Only playing it because a friend from work recommended it, and kinda glad he did.
@cmk8 Haha, indeed.
14 pieces of Fire Emblem DLC, for just under €32, six days after the game's release
Haha.
Ahahaha.
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha excuse me I have to go and be sick.
Disgaea 5 physically though I won't be able to pick up my preorder until Monday.
Seriously! Street Fighter, Disgaea, Cooking Mama, FE DLC, Darksiders, and Rayman. This looks a great week, but people are still complaining. SMH.
Nothing
@JoeDiddley @Moon I'm with you guys. It's very rare that I make a clear intention to wait for a sale – if I've got the cash and I want the game, where's the harm – but in the case of Ultra Street Fighter II, I just have to make an exception.
I'm simply not willing to pay £35 for what is essentially a game I played a hell of a lot of twenty-odd years ago. And certainly not when ARMS is only a few short weeks away! Nope, if Capcom make it sub-£20 at some point, I'll probably bite, but not just yet.
I've ordered Darksiders retail edition. Should be here tomorrow if the postal service stops being crap.
@xxAcesHighxx Capcom will drop the price. They always do.
Well this caught me off-guard. Capcom and NIS are a disgrace with their pricing of their respective Switch games.
Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is on its way to me in the post. Finally completed BOTW on Monday evening. I've done literally everything, all armour maxed out, searched every nook and cranny. The only thing I didn't do was find all 900 Korok Seeds(found about 640 of them). Clocked up over 380 hours. It's for me the greatest game ever made.
Will be buying physical copies of Street Fighter and Disgaea but won't be downloading anything
Disgaea 5 and Darksiders in physical format.
A decent week, across all platforms! 👍
Darksiders Warmastered edition physically.
Expensive week for me - nothing on the eshop but Disgaea 5 (collectors editon) and street fighter 2 and darksiders all physical!
Did order darksiders off amazon for like 14 quid though!
Disgaea 5 is a crazy good fit for the switch! Will be mine as soon as I buy the system.
Looking forward to Disgaea 5 on Friday! <3
I already got Disgaea last thursday, and it's really good! I'm not good at strategy RPGs at all, so I hope I can grind my way through the game like I did with the 3DS Fire Emblems.
Digitally nothing here for me though. Looking forward to the ARMS event this weekend!
Man I wish they were doing darksiders for both wii u and switch. I loved watching my friend play the first darksiders. Maybe we could see a combo pack and get both Darksiders for switch. Apparently the 3rd one is in the works.
@xxAcesHighxx I'm totally with you on that. I think £19.99 would have been fair, but even then I'd probably have still waited on a sale. I'm hoping they discount it like they did with SSFIV3D. I can wait, though, it's not like I've never played SF2
I'll be purchasing Disgaea 5 Complete.
The 2 Rayman games but not Rabbids? What is this nonsense!
On a more serious note, nothing because I got Shadows of Valentia on Friday, still have a lot to do in BotW Wii U and plenty to do on Switch including ARMS Global Testpunch.
Nothing for me this week! Saving money for ARMS, miitopia, and splatoon 2. Maybe Ever Oasis if I have the money.
@samuelvictor I bought it at release for the Jaguar...it was a great game at the time.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Why were you surprised at the Disgaea price? It's same price as the closest equivalent version elsewhere.
PS4
Amazon €52
Gamestop €60
PSN €60
You could even argue the inclusion of the DLC makes it "better value"
@Menchi187 It's a 2 year old port. God forbid the price would reflect that.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE That's a much broader argument than just the Switch that we won't get into lol
The air traffic controller game is fun once you stop playing by the games rules and realise it's much more fun and challenging to crash the planes than it is to land them. And I'm 100% serious.
And I've said it before, I think a cool game would be called train crash with a lot of realistic physics and damage causing factors where the more the damage the more points. All types of trains from past to present. Vs. mode would be cool. King Kong and Godzilla modes would be a blast to play.
addendum for @Windy: Ask Kairosoft to make this.
Drancia has been a lot of fun so far I recommend that to anyone. Easy to play. Neat pixel art just a fun little game. I wish Kairosoft would start releasing some 3ds games. They have so many good games in a genre that the 3ds lacks in. I think at their current Android Market prices they would make a ton of money in the Eshop and we would love the product. I emailed them this week but have not received a reply. If your a fan of Kairosoft on Android and would like to see them on 3DS please send them an Email at [email protected] it would be much better than the garbage that has been released in Eshop lately.
Here is Kairosoft webpage if you would like to know more about Kairosoft games. They would be great additions to the 3ds Eshop. Let's start an email campaign to get them on the roster! http://kairopark.jp/android/en/
With SNK re-releasing a fine entry in the (in my opinion superior) King of Fighters franchise in the same week, I can't for the life of me even think about getting Street Fighter 2 for close to retail price. This says a lot about Capcom and what kind of support they are giving the Switch. That stings, especially after the Disney Afternoon Collection inexplicably skipped the console.
I'm super stoked about Disgaea, though. Been thinking about getting it on the PS4 ever since it was released, but portability and built-in DLC mean the Switch version will likely be the definitive one.
I'd rather take KOF 2000 personally, but '99 is fine too.
Darksiders!
Looks like I'll just keep on playing Zelda and FEE:SoV
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Twice this week Ive agreed with you (Im panicking). I got Disagea 5 including delivery for £37 in uk & 3 days before release. Great game but not helped I have to listen 4 & 2 year old & have tinnitus but the main character voice just really grates on my nerves.
I'll be grabbing a physical copy of Disgaea. Pretty damn excited for it.
Omg rayman!!! I have physical darksiders pre ordered
May grab Disgaea 5 but would be a physical copy.
Wonder if I can still get a sub-£40 copy?
Disgaea 5 special edition pre-order on its way tomorrow
Got the special edition Disgaea 5 preoder as well. Not sure when it should be coming but I was expecting tomorrow or friday. Either way, it'll show up at my work and be in my hands in minutes.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE It's a fantastic game that is worth every penny Fair play to NIS for providing such quality.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE year and a half actually, and on PS4 to get all the contents of the Switch version it would currently cost you 95 euro (60 base game + 35 season pass for all dlc) or £84. And even the times it's been on sale, it still cost more than the Switch version if you include all the DLC. I'm with you on SFII though. If SFIV on 3DS is anything to go by, it should go down in price rather quickly
I want to buy darksiders out of principle but I know I would never play it. My switch runs my life now.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'm glad you enjoyed Zelda so much But actually, Disgaea 5 Complete would cost you MORE on PSN than Switch if you bought it digitally (although you could probably find the PS4 version cheaper in stores), because you also have to buy all the DLC (and the season pass is still USD$30).
I enjoyed Darksiders a lot on the PC. Mostly the first was the most enjoyable one for me. I am going to get both the first and second one due to its discount and enjoy them both.
Looks like digital Disgaea is delayed until the 2nd June. 😒
So glad Disgaea's finding a new audience. That series really deserves it.
i wish darksiders was on switch perfect release
I ordered Darksiders retail version last week too! I hope to receive it on Friday. Assuming that everything works superbly, Nordic gaming has served us good! Hopefully they also bring Darksiders 3 to a Nintendo device (Switch) and on card!
One last thing: Strange that it was already on the e-shop last week. Maybe it was a pre-load, but it didn't show a price. Anyway: If this gets reviewed by Nintendolife (and in a reasonable timeframe) I would be VERY surprised! They are truly lacking in the review-department nowadays (the most important segment of a gaming-site in my opinion). They didn't review the Wii version of Rodea either (while everyone who played it claimed that it was much better then the Wii u version). And seeing as Darksiders is on Wii u (they always do as if Wii u never existed on this site) it won't be reviewed!
@gortsi Actually, it's over 2 years old. It first released on March 25, 2015.
@TeslaChippie Then they're a bigger disgrace on PS4.
Any news on when Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment will release for the 3DS in Europe?
Can't wait to download Rayman 3 (GBA) on the Wii U. Got to give the WIi U some ❤.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Well done, I'm still only about 60 hours in, I just don't get the time these days. I got hold of my 8 year old sons switch last night and even he has put in over 115 hours!
Quick stat update - I know Metacritic isn't everything but after nearly 3 months the Switch has:-
Over 50 games in total (across all regions). 13 with a Metascore ranging 70-79, 11 with a Metascore ranging 80-89 and 3 with a Metascore of 90+
Anyone know why Disgaea 5 is showing a release date of 25/05/17 on the eshop when it's not due for release until tomorrow (26th)?
So Rayman Advance on Wii U is a port of a GBA port of a PS1 game? Will it be ported to Switch?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE didn't know you were Japanese, thought you were Irish. The European localisation was end of October 2015
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Well I've got just one word for you... RESPECT!
@trakkerx Haha.. love it!
