Atari 2600 games are not supposed look better than Wiiware games a first place. It doesn't exactly mean a 2600 version wouldn't be fun to play though.
It is up to the programmer.
Atari 2600 games can be fun or addicting depending the genre or game. Games like Demon Attack, Midnight Magic, Jr. Pac-man, Space Invaders, and River Raid are fun games to play despite the graphics. They are just as fun to play this year as they were for me back in the 1980's.
The pictures are not bad for an Atari 2600 game. I am judging this by all the Atari 2600 games that I own including 3 homebrew 2600 game cartridges.
A game like LIT could be 32k or 64k in memory for an Atari 2600 game by using bankswitching if it is being programmed in this decade. The only 64k Atari 2600 game in existence is called 2007 AtariAge Holiday Cart: Stella's Stocking. Info on that game is found at http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=2779.
That type of memory for an Atari 2600 game couldn't happened over 20 years ago due to cost.
Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen was distributed 25.000 copies in North America. It was caused by the fact Enix was planning to close their America publishing division sometime in the year.
Here is the proof:
According the digital press Rarity guide, Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen was release in the United States in April 1995.
Enix America Corporation only release one game after Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen that in the same year. It was called King Arthur & the Knights of Justice. It was even rarer than Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen.
King Arthur & the Knights of Justice was released in May 1995. King Arthur & the Knights of Justice had less copies released distributed than Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen.
There wasn't a published game from Enix America Corporation being released from May 1995 to the time it closed in November 1995 and there was no proof of a game being worked on during that time.
Enix had a difficult time to sell games in North America as publisher in including Soul Blazer.
As a Wisconsin resident, I heard about this tax last week. It was one of many taxes Wisconsin is planing to do or increase.
It is one of the ways to decrease the huge debt Wisconsin has. Since Jim Doyle Took office as Governor, Wisconsin's debt has been increasing at good pace. People are now projecting my state will have 5 billion dollar debt.
Wisconsin already has an online tax for online sales tax for online stores located in Wisconsin. It includes online stores that sales item online, but doesn't have shop off line.
You are currently saving money if your not buying games from online game stores in Wisconsin.
I've been saving money by buying games from online stores not located in Wisconsin.
I like Mercs better than Clayfighter. I already have Mercs on the genesis.
I have easy access to the game. I have a Nomad and a 32x is hooked up.
At least I don't have to download any vc games or Wiiware games right now. I bought Aero Blasters for the tg-16, Bomberman for the tg-16, and Saturn Bomberman.
It is not as easy as you make sound for releasing movie based games.
1.) the possible asking price for the movie companies or comic companies is too high. It has be a big problem toward Batman and Spider-man based video games on games found on the vc. Spider-man and Batman are very high in value at this time. A spider-man game on the Genesis might even cost over 2000 wii points or more.
2.) The games companies that released games based cartoons, movies, or comics may no longer own the video game rights to the game. That issue has affected companies like Capcom and Sega a lot. It is one of the reasons you haven't seen Revenge of Shinobi on the vc.
3.) Some of the companies that made movie based games, cartoon or comic based games no longer exist or don't support the Wii.
A lot more video games were release in Japan than in Europe and North America back in the day for most systems after the video game crash.
Translating would take a while to translate some game like Rpgs for an example. Even if we get the games that don't need a lot of translation, we still wouldn't be getting as many games as Japan does.
There wasn't much of a difference between Wonder Boy or Adventure Island to me. The graphics were given an edge to the Sms.
While played both games and own them both. I really don't have a favorite between the two games. It is a toss up to me. I picked the Adventure Island since I was annoyed by the sound than I was with Wonderboy.
I am bigger on the later Adventure Island games after Adventure Island and Wonder Boy became different after the first Wondery Boy game.
There is no difference between Wonder Boy 3: Dragon's and Dragon's Curse except for graphics being tg-16.
I haven't played Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair or Monster Lair. Based on What I've read it is
I never played Dynastic Hero due to the fact I own Wonder Boy in Monster World. Based on I've read Dynastic Hero is easier to beat the final boss than Wonder Boy in Monster World is.
From my past experience, Wonder Boy in Monster World's final boss is a royal pain. If you want an easier time to beat a game, go for Dynastic Hero.
The graphics are better in the Genesis version, the music is worse on the genesis based on what I heard.on youTube.
Go for Dynastic Hero over Wonder Boy in Monsterland for downloading on the vc.
Wonder Boy in Monster Land was not release on the vc already on a another system in North America and Europe.
There is a Wonder Boy in Monster Land on the tg-16 called of Bikkuriman World in Japan, but it not be coming to North America as a vc game due to translation and it was a Japan only game.
Wonderboy in Monster Land is not Wonder Boy in Monster World despite the Screen shoots or Dynastic Hero for that matter.
Dynastic Hero and Wonder Boy in Dynastic Hero are the same, but just on different systems.
I own Wonder Boy in Monster Land and Wonder Boy in Monster World on cartridges. There is a difference in both games Wonder Boy in Monster Land has a timer and Wonder Boy in Monster World Doesn't and Wonder Boy in Monster Land takes place before Wonder Boy 3: Dragon's Trap.
Wonder Boy in Monster World takes place sometime after Wonder Boy 3 : Dragon's Trap or Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair.
Here are the Wonder Boy games that were release on a different system on the vc:
Wonder Boy (sms) = Adventure island(nes) Wonder Boy 3: Dragon's Trap (sms- could be release soon on vc) = Dragon's Curse(tg-16) World Boy in Monster World (Sega Genesis) = Dynastic Hero (tg CD) Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair (Mega Drive) = Monster Lair (turbo cd)
I think it means Fantasy Zone 2 will be released next month or March.
Wonderboy in Monsterland is a good game, but I have to rank it 3rd out the 4 Wonderboy games I've played and own on cartridge. I didn't play monster Lair yet, and have no plans to.
MUSHA is a great shmup and this comes from a person that owns over 60 shoot'em ups without counting the ones I bought on the vc.
I recommand MUSHA to anyone that like shoot'em ups and doesn't own a copy of it.
I will not download MUSHA. I own the game and I have a 32x hooked up and I have an easy time to get to my Sega Nomad. Besides, I have a lot of games I need to beat including Shining in the Holy Ark and Zillion.
MUSHA is a 5 in rarity in North America in cartridge form and is one of the rarest genesis games I own. It is not an easy game to find from my past experience.
I also got Chrono Trigger -ds, Dragon Quest 4-DS, Crystal Warriors-Game Gear, Baroque-Wii, and Dragon Quest Swords : The masked Queen and the tower of Mirrors-Wii.
I have a reply for comment about the Sega Saturn and the n64.
Sega Saturn can't be a vc system on the Wii.
It is caused by 2 facts.
1.) The amount of memory a Saturn game takes up. 2.) Sega Saturn is a difficult system to emulate and it was a difficult system to program during its lifeas proof.
N64 doesn't have a lot of vc games for a three reasons: 1.) Nintendo has problems emulating Controller Paks and Expansion Pak for some reason.
2.) Most 3rd party games used Controller Paks to save n64 games.
3.) Rare has the rights to most n64 games they did with Nintendo.
I am happy that Super Punch-Out got esrb rated and I hope it gets release in North America by April.
I have no plans of downloading Super Punch-out!!, but this game has a pretty good following.
I got Super Punch-out!! and it is a great games. I got it cheap for $6.00 at a flea market back in 2001.
Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen is at a great price when it comes out on the vc.
Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen was one of the last 2 Enix games published in America till 2000. Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen is a difficult game to find as a result.
Since top 10 rpgs list are being made, here is mine is in any order:
Lufia 2 Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy 6 Xenogears Dragon Quest 8 Skies of Arcadia Final Fantasy Tactics Lunar: Silver Star Story Suikoden Dragon Warrior 7
I played Secret of Mana on cartridge last year before it was released on the vc.
I feel Mana shouldn't be on the top 5 list for 2008 vc releases. I have a problem with the game without using other people to control the other 2 characters in the game. The A.I. is very limited when it comes to getting around corners. This means you must constantly backtrack and try to get your teammates around whatever obstacle is in their way. I had to do this several times during the game.
Since it appears like no more tg-16 or turbo duo games will be making it on the vc, my top 10 unreleased dream VC list is way different as a result.
My top 10 with tg-16 or turbo duo games is the following: 10. Master of Darkness 9. Mischief Makers 8. Megaman: The Wily Wars 7. Pulseman 6. Terranigma 5. Power Strike 2 4. Panorama Cotton 3. Recca 2. Parodius Da! 1. Pop'n Twinbee
I bet most of you never heard of most of the games on my dream list.
I wouldn't sell the cartridge a first place for different reasons.
1.)I still play me nes time to time and my younger brother and I own over 100 nes games.
2.) I have been collecting video games over 20 years besides playing videogames. My younger brother and I own over 600 games as a result.
3.) My younger brother lives with me and he owns a nes also. He also plays nes games.
4.) My younger brother and I have 3 tv sets that are made to play video games and having a nes hooked up isn't a big deal for us. We a lot of video game systems hooked up as a result.
5.) While I can download vc games at will right now, the shop channel will be gone sooner than later.
6.) My younger brother and I only download games that we don't the systems for, games that are to expensive for us to buy, or games that are imports.
7.) Owning games before they make to the vc means that I am saving money in the long run and it saves room on my Nintendo wii.
It means I can use the money that I otherwise spend on a wii point card for Sega Saturn games, lynx games, Atari 7800, 2600 games and any other system that I still want to buy for.
8.) Nintendo will not keep up the shop channel on the wii forever. It means I would have to buy the cartridge again if I sell the cartridge. While I save the vc games on my sd card, I am not able to upload them on my wii.
Yes. Sega made 3 different versions of revenge of Shinobi back during the 16 bit era for the Sega Genesis in North America. The final version had Spiderman and The Terminator, but not the other characters including Batman are not in the final version.
Licensing issues is a key factor. I know Revenge of Shinobi was on Sega Smash Pack vol. 1 for the Dreamcast.
The problem is Spiderman's value sky rocketed due to the 3 Spiderman movies after Sega Smash Pack and 2 more Spiderman movies will be filmed next year.
I think Marvel and any other party involved has to be asking for a lot of money due to the popularity of the Spiderman franchise since 2002.
I think another videogame company owns the rights to spiderman videogames right now.
I don't download games on compilations at all. There is no hypocrisy on my part since I don't download megaman or metal slug games.
I own a lot compilations on a ps 2, wii, and gamecube. The compilations on these system limit what games I download. It affected for the fact I didn't download a neo geo game yet.
Besides that, I don't download a lot of vc games due to the fact I own a lot of games on cartridges. I download mostly import games or turbo cd games

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Gradius Rebirth
I've been looking forward to Gradius Rebirth for a while. I doubt that I will be downloading it this week though.
I have been playing Shining Wisdom and I want to beat first it before downloading Gradius Rebirth.
Re: USA VC Update: Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars
I figured Alex Kidd: The lost Stars would be released today.
I wonder if Fantasy Zone 2 will be the next Sms vc game release next month.
Re: USA VC Update: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen

Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen was distributed 25.000 copies in North America. It was caused by the fact Enix was planning to close their America publishing division sometime in the year.

Re: USA VC Update: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen
Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen is a deal on the vc.
I found Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen last month around $80.00 at online store in stock. I didn't buy the game for $80.00.
Re: The Revenge of Shinobi
@Lapetus,
I wouldn't download The Revenge of Shinobi. I already own the cartridge. I also have a 32x hooked and a Sega Nomad.
I don't download games that I already own and that includes Shinobi 3. I use Wii points on the vc side for c64, turbo cd and import games.
I also beated Revenge of Shinobi with the good ending several years ago.
Re: The Revenge of Shinobi
Fun, but difficult game.
I played this game when I first got my Sega Genesis.
I am another one that thinks Shinobi 3 is better than Revenge of Shinobi.
Re: The TurboGrafx-16 Returns to North America in March
I am looking forward to Detana!! TwinBee being release this month.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - March 2009
@17. Link79
Shadow Dancer is the arcade sequel to Shinobi.
It is a good game, but it is not an easy game.
You lose a life if your hit once. That is the major problem with the game.

Re: USA VC Update: Commodore 64 Launches With Three Games
@Don
A Commodore 64 is a computer. It was released in 1982 and was supported through 1994.
Commodore 64 was more known as a gaming machine than business computer due to the fact there was over 20,000 game titles for it.
Re: USA VC Update: Commodore 64 Launches With Three Games
I am happy the Commodore 64 is finally the vc in North America.
I never owned a C64 or play a game on the c64 despite being old enough to play them back in the 1980's.
I heard of some c64 games, since some c64 game releases were also on the Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Sega Master System, Nes and the Atari Lynx.
I will be downloading Last Ninja.
Re: USA VC Update: Life Force
I am excited if the surprise is the C64.
I heard of the system but I never owned a c64 or play it's games back in the day,
The C64 came out when when I was a little kid. I enjoy playing games from older systems like the Atari 2600.
Re: USA VC Update: Life Force
Life Force is one of the shmup games on the system. I own the cartridge version and my top loading Nes is hooked up.
Re: USA VC Update: Wolf of the Battlefield: MERCS

Re: USA VC Update: Sonic Chaos
Sonic Chaos is an okay game gear game.
It is one less Sonic game that needs to be released the vc now.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - February 2009
At least Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars shouldn't be as bad as Alex Kidd: High Tech World.
Re: OFLC Update: Two More Imports
TwinBee is an import game that has been on my vc want list for a while.
I will not be downloading Bomberman 94 when it comes. I own the genesis version of the game.
Bomberman 94 is a great game single and multiplayer. At least Hudson hasn't give up on the vc yet.
Re: OFLC Update: Two More Imports
@Adamant:
I like playing Mega Bomberman in single player mode. Matter of fact, I like playing most Bomberman games in single player moder for the GBA.
Re: USA VC Update: Wonder Boy in Monster Land

There wasn't much of a difference between Wonder Boy or Adventure Island to me. The graphics were given an edge to the Sms.

Re: USA VC Update: Wonder Boy in Monster Land
@Stuffgamer1
Adventure Island is better than Wonder Boy.

Here are the Wonder Boy games that were release on a different system on the vc:
Wonder Boy (sms) = Adventure island(nes)
Wonder Boy 3: Dragon's Trap (sms- could be release soon on vc) = Dragon's Curse(tg-16)
World Boy in Monster World (Sega Genesis) = Dynastic Hero (tg CD)
Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair (Mega Drive) = Monster Lair (turbo cd)
Re: USA VC Update: Wonder Boy in Monster Land
It is not a bad game for the Sms. I've played worse Sms games before like Great Basketball and Alf.
I will not complain any way. There is a good amount of games want to beat after I beated Shining in the Holy Ark before downloading another vc game.
I am looking forward to see what vc games will be announced on Friday for next month in Japan.
Re: Bubble Bobble Wii - Now With 4 Player Support
I am looking forward to when Bobble Bobble Wii gets released.
Re: Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Dfalco, It is not the worst game on the Sms.
There are far worse Sega Master games out there including the "great sports" series for the the Sms. I own and played over 70 sms games.
Re: EU VC Update: Mario Golf and Wonder Boy in Monster Land
I think it means Fantasy Zone 2 will be released next month or March.
Wonderboy in Monsterland is a good game, but I have to rank it 3rd out the 4 Wonderboy games I've played and own on cartridge. I didn't play monster Lair yet, and have no plans to.
Re: MUSHA
It is a must have download for a shooter fan if you don't own the cartridge.
Re: USA VC Update: MUSHA
@Goompapa,
I have to Star Parodier. It is a great game and it a great game for people that don't have a lot of experience in playing shooters like yourself.
Re: USA VC Update: MUSHA
Re: USA VC Update: Castlevania III
@Manicfatty
I also got Chrono Trigger -ds, Dragon Quest 4-DS, Crystal Warriors-Game Gear, Baroque-Wii, and Dragon Quest Swords : The masked Queen and the tower of Mirrors-Wii.
Re: USA VC Update: Castlevania III
@Bass X0,
I didn't play Shining Wisdom yet, but I ordered it last week online. I should getting it this week or next week.
Shining Wisdom was one of the games I wanted for the Sega Saturn since I bought a Sega Saturn last June.
Re: USA VC Update: Castlevania III
It is a very good week for a lot of vc owners.
I will not be downloading the game, but it is good thing for me right now.
I got 5 rpgs as Christmas gifts including Shining in the Holy Ark for the Sega Saturn and I am focusing on playing Shining in the Holy Ark right now.
Re: Ten Games We'd Like To See On The Virtual Console In 2009
@64. MarkyVigoroth,
I have a reply for comment about the Sega Saturn and the n64.
Sega Saturn can't be a vc system on the Wii.
It is caused by 2 facts.
1.) The amount of memory a Saturn game takes up.
2.) Sega Saturn is a difficult system to emulate and it was a difficult system to program during its lifeas proof.
N64 doesn't have a lot of vc games for a three reasons:
1.) Nintendo has problems emulating Controller Paks and Expansion Pak for some reason.
2.) Most 3rd party games used Controller Paks to save n64 games.
3.) Rare has the rights to most n64 games they did with Nintendo.
Re: ESRB Update: Super Punch-Out!! and Ogre Battle on Their Way to the US
I am happy that Super Punch-Out got esrb rated and I hope it gets release in North America by April.
Re: Talking Point: Is the Virtual Console On The Slide?
@58. Bass X0
Genesis Super Street Fighter II is esrb rated. It is on the 2nd page on the Wii platform search.
Re: EU WiiWare Update: Fun! Fun! Minigolf and Strong Bad Episode 5
I am now wondering if we will be getting a vc game on Monday.
I wouldn't be surprised if North America will getting vc games once every two weeks and Wiiware games once every two weeks.
Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
Since top 10 rpgs list are being made, here is mine is in any order:
Lufia 2
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 6
Xenogears
Dragon Quest 8
Skies of Arcadia
Final Fantasy Tactics
Lunar: Silver Star Story
Suikoden
Dragon Warrior 7
Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
@ Bahamut ZERO
Here is the answers to your questions:
1.) Lufia 2 is for the Snes.
2.) You may want to play Lufia 1 after you play Lufia 2.
Lufia 2 is a prequal to Lufia 1. Lufia 1 takes place about a 100 years after Lufia 2.
The story line of Lufia one had references to Lufia 2. The first 2 lufia games had a tie in with each other.
It appeared that Taito developed Lufia 1 with the intentions of making Lufia 2 a prequal.
I am willing to back up my statement if I am asked to.
Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
I played Secret of Mana on cartridge last year before it was released on the vc.
I feel Mana shouldn't be on the top 5 list for 2008 vc releases. I have a problem with the game without using other people to control the other 2 characters in the game. 9. Mischief Makers
8. Megaman: The Wily Wars
7. Pulseman
6. Terranigma
5. Power Strike 2
4. Panorama Cotton
3. Recca
2. Parodius Da!

Re: USA VC Update: StarTropics II
I got Star Tropics II for Christmas back in 1996 or 1997 from my younger brother.
Star Tropics II is a good game imo.
I will not download the game. I still own the cartridge.
I will not download a of new vc game releases anyway since it appears like Hudson will not release anymore turbo cd games on the vc.
