The full list is as follows:
Famicom:
- Clu Clu Land D (A Disk System "sequel" to Clu Clu Land)
- Takeshi no Chousenjou (One of the worst games ever - Watch this followed by this to see why!)
Super Famicom:
Sega Master System
Sega Mega Drive:
- Dragon Slayer: Eiyuu Densetsu II (March 3rd)
- The Revenge of Shinobi (This was thought to never get a rerelease - The original game included Spiderman, Godzilla and others!)
PC Engine:
- Space Invaders: The Original Game (CD, March 3rd - This is practically the same as the SNES version!)

Wow, this is not good. I wonder if this is the beginning of the end for Virtual Console...
What?? Revenge of Shinobi is awesome news, wash you mouth out with soap and water
Wow, Revenge of Shinobi! I can't wait till the US gets this! Not only is this game amazing, but it features some of the best video game music ever by the legendary Yuzo Koshiro.
Cool, Super Shinobi will be on my list. Now, all I really want to see is Snow Brothers for the Megadrive and I'll be really happy. Sad that I have until April to find out if there's even a hope of that...
Wouldnt it be easier to release Revenge of Shinobi in Japan? Arent they less sue-happy about legal issue there?
@Dazza
It's not that this selection doesn't have good games in it, it's just a little sparse compared to what Japan usually gets. Am I the only one discouraged by that?
Yay, Takeshi no Chousenjou!! I had already seen the Game Center CX episode on it about a year ago and since then I always wanted to try it out. Thanks for the links to subbed episodes, though. Didn't know they even exist...
hahahaha, that video of Takeshi no Chousenjou was fun
i watched it, and i never thought there would be a nintendo game this bad, but its even worse than just bad... omg...
as for the rest: space invaders isnt my game, clu clu land can be fun, sonic chaos looks fun, and would be better if put volume at 0 and play own music
imo sonic chaos music is kinda annoying
Takeshi no Chosenjou? i wonder what will happen if that appeared in the Hanabi Festival for Europe...
Not bad but not great either. The Revenge of Shinobi is my type of game and one i will add to my wish list since I really liked Shinobi 3. Although i wounder when we will get Shinobi 2?
Space Invaders on PC:Engine must be one of the stupidist releases on VC yet. This is even more banial than the SNES version. A complete waste of a CD ROM2 format.
Have Nintendo opened the doors to a zillion Space Invaders ports?!? o.o
Takeshi no Chousenjou is very interesting piece of game history. We surely wont see it released outside of japan, and thats a good thing. I think it belongs to them.
Oh well for Japan, they already have more games than U.S. and Europe so if they get less games per month that's too bad.
Did anyone besides me notice 2 TG16 games announced for NA on Hudson's site? Bomberman 94' and Detana!! Twin Bee.
I was begining to wonder if revenge of Shinobi would ever be released. Too bad I've already played the much better Shinobi 3.
The second game will seem lame by comparison. I'll still get it though just to check it out.
The Revenge of Shinobi as awesome.
I am looking forward to this
We still haven't gotten Shadow Dancer yet though
Where does Shadow dancer fit in? Is it more of a spinoff? Was it any good? I missed most of the Shinobi games. I was always more into Ninja Gaiden myself.
Yeah, Takeshi no Chousenjou is not coming outside Japan. It's more a practical joke than a game, and it's so famous for being this that people are very well aware of what they're getting. It's part of the appeal, just like how Plan 9 From Outer Space got released on DVD and actually sold.
Most non-Japanese aren't in on the joke, however, so Nintendo wouldn't dare bring it over. You need to know what you're going to with this game. (Plus, the game is somewhat texty).
But yeah, there's definitely an appeal here. It's not a bad release - those of you thinking it is aren't really understanding what the game is actually about.
@17. Link79
Shadow Dancer is the arcade sequel to Shinobi.
It is a good game, but it is not an easy game.
You lose a life if your hit once. That is the major problem with the game.
Lose a life if you're hit once? Ugh I hate those type of games.
Soooooo.......
Whats that big game....... none of these intrest me....
Oh god, I remeber that video thing about the NES game. XD
But how are they gonna get the part where you got to sing a song (PERFECTLY, seriously, no freaking mistakes at all) to work? XP
@ rapadash6: You are.
Revenge of Shinobi is releasing on VC after all? Sweet! Hope it makes it over soon. Even though it won't be the same without Spidey and Godzilla.
I want to see Takeshi's Challenge appear as an import someday, just to experience it's absurdity, though it looks unlikely. Other than that, it looks like Japan's gonna have a pretty boring month this month.
That's quite thin for Japan. It is a little worrying but who knows what there'll be next month.
"Space Invaders on PC:Engine must be one of the stupidist releases on VC yet. This is even more banial than the SNES version."
I Didn't even know that was possible
At least tell me the music is good in the CD version of Space Invaders: The Original Game...
What's even funnier is this is the SECOND Space Invaders game on the PC Engine for the Japanese VC!!! There was a HU Card port a few months ago (had a slightly tarted-up version and a B&W arcade port); this is the port of the SNES/PSX game on PCE-CD.
@Spikey: If they released that over here I would predict mass suicide amongst the completist gamers...
Takeshi no Chousenjou looks like a pile of poo but at the same time i wan't to have a go. Its quite sad really
I'm concerned with the # of Jap VC releases dwindling...
Well Revienge of the Shinobi is one of the games built in the Pocket Megadrive by Tec-toy for which i got the american version which is under the atgames badging .
Revenge of Shinobi was simply awesome.
I watched those videos for that Takeshi no Chousenjou, and I've got to say it looks like a train wreck of a game. I would never download it if the US had the misfortune of receiving this game.
Yeah, Takeshi's Challenge won't come because it would need to be translated, and I'm doubting there'd be enough curiosity demand for it.
wow wheres Bass XO
Anyone care to mention the suprise title.... please, I hate being in the dark.......
@Rapadash6: Yes, probably the only one Actually no, Objection Blaster seems to be aswell.
I wonder if they'll change Revenge of Shinobi with some other characters
While Revenge was my least favorite in the Shinobi series, it's still a great game, and I do hope it gets a rerelease stateside, even if the do remove Spider Man.
lol to the video of the guy beating the game. Poor fella...lol
That vid was hilarious, thanks Marcel! How will they emulate the mic on a japanese wii?
@Bahamut ZERO: The surprise titles mentioned in the original post are Takeshi no Chousenjou and Revenge of Shinobi.
Checking out Revenge of Shinobi, there were software revisions removing Batman and Godzilla and replacing them with other characters. Spider-Man and Terminator were still in it though so I'd say that'll be the version that comes out.
In Takeshi no Chousenjou, how they will arrange singing in Famicom pad in the Wii version..??
@41, togovero
Well, they'll probably make it so that you use the Wiispeak instead.
Of course, the Wiispeak might also open the possiblilty of Hey! You! Pikachu! coming to the VC soon.
Marcel, those videos were awesome! Thanks for making me laugh
Yeah, mucho thanks for the Takeshi no Chousenjou videos, Marcel!
Expose paper to sun for one hour.......HAH, that's beautiful.
So is that Takeshi the actor and who did Takeshi's Castle? That makes the game make quite a bit more sense....... heheh.
And now I want to play a shooter where you can never gain altitude in a given stage...........
As far as Shinobi, I'm kinda wanting the classic original Shinobi. The Master System version is not quite up to the beauty of the arcade version, but it'd be a million times better than the NES version, and be pretty enjoyable I think. Makes me glad the VC has so many systems, so that better version at least have a CHANCE of being the one chose to be released.
.
.
Heh heh..........wait one hour............. I like it!
I wonder if it'll be a news item here if they use WiiSpeak for Takeshi, it'd definitely be a discussion point anyhow.
@ Captain Konami: Yes, it is indeed Takeshi Kitano (AKA Beat Takeshi) from Takeshi's Castle.
Ah, thanks Drake. Then that game definitely works, though probably not for usual gameplay reasons.
And I wonder if one of those Famicom controllers with the mic built in can still be had....... probably frustrating as heck to use, but a really awesome collectors item. I do hope, just on principle, that they manage full capability for Takeshi no Chousenjou. A game that......er, unusual, deserves a proper rerelease. I wonder if a better mic might make it less troublesome, though probably still utterly obscure unless one knows the game is looking for karaoke.
The microphone was built into controller 2 of all original model Famicoms (the original Famicom had 2 controllers permanently attached. Only controller 1 had Start and Select, and only controller 2 had the microphone.)
I had a feeling that the legendary game would be that particular one. For whatever masochistic reason, I want to try it out. >_>
They could get away with localizing Takeshi no Chousenjou by simply giving it a does-what-it-says-on-the-tin title, like The Game Made By Takeshi, Who Hates You.
@48:
Ah, huh. Hardwired controllers, eh? One with a mic, one without? Those crazy Japanese, god bless 'em!
As much as I prefer my grey and white NES, that bright red Famicom looks just cool-strange enough for me to want one.
Hah, that WOULD be a suitable export of Takeshi no Chousenjou......people guessing what the heck is going on and being frustrated. Maybe the "Evil Game by Takeshi" actually breaks the language and culture barrier. Truely ultimate genius game design!
Out of them, Takeshi no Chousenjou has my interest. I think it might turn to be quite popular.I look forward to seeing how it works.
I don't see why Revenge of Shinobi was never re-released. I mean, the game in the series that's CONSTANTLY re-released, Shinobi III, has Mecha Godzilla in it, I think the 5 or 6th boss, and it's unedited. It looks like Mecha Godzilla, clear as day.
Hooray. More ninjas!
Aprill will be better what with Majora's Mask and all.
