WIKIPEDIA said the following "Sonic Drift is a kart racing game released in Japan for the Sega Game Gear in March 18, 1994. I own a Digital Press Collector's Guide. It didn't list Sonic Drift as a North American game Game gear game. The Dp online rarity guide listed Sonic Drift as non U.S. game. You can check it out on http://www.digitpress.com .
I am an old school gamer, but I didn't hear about Sonic Drift 1 back in 1994.
Sonic Drift was not released in the United States in 1994. Most gamers in the United States didn't have to place Sonic Drift till the 2 gamecube collections came out.
Sonic Drift 2 was released in the U.S in 1995 though and I heard about it back then despite not caring about hand held systems back then.
I didn't care about the Game Gear and Game Boy because I had problems seeing the screen while I was trying them out. I tried them out at stores back in the day.
I heard about about the game by seeing game magazine ads.
Megaman 9 is made for the old Nes crowd in mind, not people getting their start in the 32 bit/64 bit era. Capcom is going back to Megaman's roots in the orginal series. Games in the Nes era were very difficult games. The first Megaman was no different.
A person has to play nes games like the Ninja Gaiden series to understand the difficulty level that games had back in the day. Beating a Nes game at that time meant you had some great game playing skills in playing a certain game. I've beaten Ninja Gaiden 1 without game genie in the past. It was considered a great gaming accomplishment by other gamers back in the day,.
The difficulty of Megaman started to go downhill was in Megaman 2. The energy tanks in Megaman 2 made it a little easier for gamers.
@x.SuperMario.x Satoru Iwata was at the TGS in 2005. He revealed the Nintendo Wii's Controller there during his keynote speech.
Nintendo does have different press events though outside of E3. Last year was a prime example. They used that press conference to announce Wiiware games during the fall of 2007. I know Nintendo used to have Space world as an event.
I got the mixed up by Nintendo's Wiiware game announcements last fall. The TGS happened a couple weeks prior to that.
When you hit my age, you will start to mix up facts a little bit over time or need help to remember things. I am not using this excuse as damage control. It is a fact.
I am older then most members responding vc news stories. I remembered the Snes launch release in 1991 as a teen.
I have a lot of things to remember that are not video game related.
Nintendo might showing a lack of effort intentionally. They may have a press conference during the fall like they did last year..
Other Game Companies might be looking The TGS to show their full hand. The TGS takes place in October. The TGS is becoming a more important event then E3 is right now.
E3 doesn't have as much luster as it did a couple years ago. E3 is on the decline and is starting to turn into a joke. I expect even less companies being at e3 next year.
Some top videogame publishers or developers didn't show up at e3 this year like Activision. There was less publishers or developers at E3 this then there was last year. That is telling me E3 is not as important in the Video game industry as it was a couple years ago.
Nintendo of America has nothing to do with Chrono Trigger not being released on the vc. SquareEnix is repsonsible for that. SquareEnix only cares about making the most money on a game.. They want the customer to buy a remake of a game full price than put the same game on the vc.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask has some type of an emulation problem. It existed with Gamecube disc that had The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on it. It is possible the issue still exists with that game.
Megaman 1 & 2 are on the Megaman Collection for Gamecube.
@BB Sting
Capcom has nothing to do with the Mortal Kombat series. They didn't created the series and they didn't port any Mortal Kombat games to game consoles.
I know this for a fact. I saw Mortal Kombat in the arcade back in 1992. I also played all Mortal Kombat games released the Sega Genesis.
Midway created the Mortal Kombat franchise and they still have rights to the series. It is up to Midway to release the games on the vc as a result.
The first two Mortal Kombats were ported to game consoles by Acclaim with Probe being the developer. Midway was not a game console publisher at the time Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 came on game consoles.
The other Mortal Kombat arcade games were ported to game consoles by Williams or Midway.
It will be great if Megaman 1 & 2 will make to North America. It would cut down the complaining a little bit from Wii owners.
I wouldn't download the 2 Nes Megaman games though. I own still own the cartridges. Mega Man 2 is a great game. I consider Megaman 2 or 3 being the best in the series.
Being a well known game doesn't mean it was released on the Nes in North America. Dig Dug was an arcade game released in North America. It was on early 1980's game consoles matter of fact.
Dig Dug was not released in North America for the Nes. It was a japan only game back in the day. You have to blame 1980's Nintendo of America management for that, not today's NOA..
Dig Dug 2: Trouble for Paradise was released in North America for the Nes, not Dig Dug.
Neo Geo was not a well balanced system in different genre's. That is why 8 out 13 Neo geo vc games are some type of a fighting game..
Neo Geo was a game console based on Snk's arcade hardware. It was used to port Snk arcade games as a result and gave games the ultimate arcade experience on a home game console. It's games were the signs of the times in arcades.
Arcade game genre's back in the early to mid 90's were mostly fighting games, shooters and some sports games. I played in the arcades back in the late 80's to late 90's. The arcade genre fighting games was actually two different types of fighting games.
The fighting games were seperated in two groups. One one them was called beat'em ups. They were side scrolling fighting games with bosses at the end of each level. That was hitting the arcades for years. One of the first was Kung Fu Master. It took Renegade or Double Dragon to make them very popular. They died in the arcades around 1993 or 1994. The other type of fighting games was tournament style fighting games. That style of Fighting games became popular after Street Fighter 2. Their orginals came from the mid 80's from games like Karate Champ, but it took Street Fighter 2 to make them very popular.
Some arcade companies also made puzzle, action, hack & slash arcade games. Snk didn't go much in those genres in the arcade,
In North America, 52 of 89 Neo Geo games released on Cartridge were fighting games. The 2nd highest was 16 sports games. The 3rd highest was 15 Shooters.
You have to get used to it as result. There are some other Non fighting games as imports or Neo Geo CD games.
Alex Kidd in Miracle Word is the game in the Alex Kidd series imo.
One is one of the best sms platform games ever. Alex Kidd in Mircale World also is one of the best Sms games ever imo. Hopefully there will be more great sms games making it to the vc like Zillion.
Sometimes, Esrb is not accurate in vc releases or gives people false hope.
Some of the leaked vc games took several months to be released. Shining Force 2 hasn't been released yet on the vc despite being leaked in November. Crackdown was leaked by the esrb even long than that, but Crackdown hasn't been released it yet. Super Turrican 2 was leaked in June last year, but it has been released yet.
At the same time, some leaked games were released right away.

Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa is a good game if you like platform games. The biggest problem is no one downloads imports like this one because they never heard of the game. Not hearing about the game, doesn't mean the game sucks.
Metal Slug and Samurai Shodown are greats, you are not after the 2 collections or own the metal Stug , Samurai Showdown Anthology will be coming later this year.
The true problem is the of vc lack of games being release, not the quality.North America has been getting only nes and Neo Geo games for the most part since the start of May.
Europe Shouldn't be complaining. They are more getting vc games a month than North American gamers do.
Double Dragon is a good game as long you don't consider it as an arcade port. The nes version is not a true arcade port to me. No 2 player simultaneous option and not starting with all your moves is a turn off to me. I don't think there is a great arcade port of this game. I played 4 arcade ports of Double Dragon and the best one is the Genesis version.
There is no reason for having a 1 vc game week in North America.
Great Concept for a rpg at the time Phantasy Star 3 came out.. The battle system is the worst of the phantasy Star games. You also have problems healing in the game at times.
Phantasy Star 3 really doesn't have any tie-ins to the first two phantasy Star games. Phantasy Star 3 wasn't made by the same people that did the first 2 Phantasy Stars. The people who did Phantasy Star 3, also did Sword of Vermillion.
Phantasy Star 3 is not a must have rpg for the genesis.
Great game that happens to be very different from the arcade version. Double Dragon is one of the first Nes games I ever played. Double Dragon is a must have game for people that like beat'em ups.

There is a limited amount of continues for this game. I've read the Japan version of this game is easier like not having limited continues.

Re: RPG Action Comes to the US Next Month in Ys Book I & II
@x.SuperMario.x- Comment 69,
Nintendo didn't screw all of us with Super Mario Rpg. Some people already own the game including myself.
I am a person that doesn't believe in downloading games that I already own.
Not everyone wants the same vc game. Everyone has different games that want. You shouldn't say everyone is screwed as a result.
Re: RPG Action Comes to the US Next Month in Ys Book I & II
I hope this is true.
Y's Book 1 & 2 is one of the games that I want on the vc. I've been waiting for it for a long time.
Re: EU VC Update - International Karate +
Neo Turf Masters shouldn't be coming next week. North America is 2 games behind Europe in Neo Geo games released on the vc.
Art of Fighting 2 was released in Europe on July 11th. I expect Art of Fighting 2 to be release before Neo Turf Masters as a result.

Re: USA VC Update: Super Fantasy Zone and Gley Lancer
I can't complain about the switch from tg-16 games being release to genesis games being release due to the fact I like to play shoot-em-ups.
This is a good week for people that like to play shoot-em-ups.
I hope this means North American gamers will getting more genesis games soon after Super Fantasy Zone and Gley Lancer.
Re: US VC Releases - 14th July - Donkey Kong 3
I am looking forward to one of Monday's vc games.
According to Hudson's vc site, we are getting Break in and Star Parodier. Both of them are imports.
Star Parodier is a game that I am looking forward to. I like to download import shoot'em ups. Shoot'em ups is one of my favorite genres of all time.

Nintendo shouldn't be done releasing their early Nes games yet. They didn't released 10 yard fight, Golf, Clu Clu Land, Kung Fu and Pro Wrestling.

At least there was 2 vc games were released this week. I hope this will continue.
Re: EU VC Releases - 11th July - Neo Geo Duo

At least vc owners can't complain about Ninja Commando being another Neo Geo fighting game since it is not.

I thought there would 2 vc game release this week since last week had 1.
I doubt there will be a Neo Geo fighter next week.
I think Nintendo is releasing only 1 game for the vc each week now.
I expect a tg-16 game to be the only game release on the vc as a result.

I own Sonic for the Master System. It is the best platformer on the Sms imo. The Sonic games for the Sms are pretty good.

The Game Gear version of Sonic is the same as the Master System.

Fatal Fury 2 is a solid release.

No 2 player simultaneous option and not starting with all your moves is a turn off to me. I don't think there is a great arcade port of this game. Re: Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium
Phantasy Star 4 is a classic.
It has everyone thing that you expect out a rpg. It has a great plot, great graphics, great use of cut scences, great battle system and very music.
Phantasy Star 4 is the best rpg on the Sega Genesis. I recommend it to anyone that doesn't own the cartridge or Sega Genesis classics.
Re: Master System games hit the Japanese VC
The list of March vc games should be up on this Friday.

Great game that happens to be very different from the arcade version. Double Dragon is one of the first Nes games I ever played. Double Dragon is a must have game for people that like beat'em ups.
Re: US VC Releases - 18th February - Ninja Gaiden III
Phantasy Star 2 is a great game, I recommand use a walk through.
Ninja Gaiden 3 is the toughest Ninja Gaiden game on the nes.
Hopefully Shining Fore 2 will be coming soon.
Re: EU VC Releases - 18th February - Sega Week - Phantasy Star II
Phantasy Star 2 is a good game. I recommand using a walkthough or use a Phantasy 2 game map. It is easy to get lost in the game for those who never played the game before.
Re: US VC Releases - 4th February - Operation Wolf
Lords of Thunder is a shooter for the Turbo duo/tg-16. It is a sequel to Gate of Thunder.
I expect Lords of Thunder coming next week or the week after.
Re: Fantasy Zone
It is a good Shmup. The difficulty isn't too bad if you get used to playing the game. The game controls are very good. It is up to how much skill the player has playing this game. The game would make a great addition for vc owners that didn't own the game and like shmup games.
Re: Wii Gift feature out now in EU and US

Re: US VC Releases - 5th November - Super Mario Bros 3
I hope the release of Alien soldier means more Sega channel exclusives games like Pulseman gets released.
Re: Shining Force II: Ancient Sealing
Shining force 2 is one of my favorite Sega genesis games of all time. It is a great game for anyone who likes strategy/RPG games.
Re: EU VC Releases - 2nd November - Sega Week
There is one more sonic game called Sonic Eraser. It is a japan only game.
