While we eagerly look forward to tomorrow's release of Aero Fighters 3, HAMSTER has announced it has acquired the rest of Video System's arcade game library and will be republishing some of the company's greatest hits in future Arcade Archives releases.
The exciting possibility of the original Aero Fighters popping up in the future, enabling us to own the complete trilogy on Nintendo Switch, is just a start. The probability of seeing the legendary Shin Nakamura developed Rabio Lepus joining up the ACA series in the near future should excite any Switch owning shmup fan no end.

Good to know, still need to pick up some of these.
...
Whens Windjammers?
@Luffymcduck Ask Dotemu.
Woot!!!
I just wanna hug HAMSTER.
Good. Now get IREM's catalog.
Pretty exciting! We need FOLDERS! More than ever!
I hope they pick up the Sega, Namco, Taito, Capcom, and Konami arcade catalogue soon too.
Even though the game was crap, I would love to see Konami Give Hamster the go ahead to publish Haunted Castle!
Wish I was more familiar with their work. Can't find any info on their games. It also doesn't help that their company name is SO vague for a google search....
Hamster keeps on chugging along! Go Hamster!!
@AirElephant I think they did that- Kid Niki was released a few weeks ago! Irem game.
It'd be really cool to see all of these upcoming, and previous ACA games, on one (definitive) physical card release. I'd be all over that.
@AirElephant they already did and released 2 games
@Alto Even if they packaged only a few games on one card it would still be an incredible value
Aren't they supposed to be releasing more of Nintendo's arcade games. Where's Punch-Out?
I don't know anything about Video System games.
@retro_player_22
namco arcade would be awesome.
ridge racer and tokyo tank battle would be just the best.
konami would be awesome as well; the GI Joe arcade game was so dang sweet. mame just doesn't work well with it. lots of glitches.
@Ryu_Niiyama
Me too!
@retro_player_22
That would be awesome. Especially since there is no VC in sight.
I hope Point Blank, Alien VS Predator and Crazy Taxi some how end up on there eventually
Portable Lethal Crash Race in tate mode? Spinal Breakers? My $7.99 is yours.
Road Fighter, Cleopatra fortune, Puchi Carat, The legend of Valkyrie; well, checking that another games for my wish list, XD
Yes! Give it ALL to them!
@Audiobrainiac Here's a list of the arcade
games they put out.

Although the game mentioned above Rabio Lepus isn't in there.
@OorWullie They were called V-System back then (late 80's)
Gotta admire their dedication.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Hamster is one of the main reasons I have 3 physical games and a couple dozen digital. And I'm an oldie that used to hate digital. I love the one price fits all model. While some titles may seem overpriced, you get Garou for six quid at home and on the go. So how many titles you releasing now Hamster? 1000? What's astonishing is that 1000 can no longer be considered jokey pie in the sky.
Bravo Hamster. Get out there and get deals with all the major arcade developers from the 80s and 90s. Starting with SEGA, Capcom and Konami.
@OorWullie Interesting. Thanks!
Sweet. Was just thinking about the original Aero Fighters last night and wondering if we’d see it come along.
YES!!!!!!
Twinkle Star Sprites please! You now have the rights, so bring it to us!
What does this mean in terms of Baseball Stars Professional's ETA? (only half kidding . . . )
Hamster has to make a lot of money from all these excellent ports.
Good for them! And ultimately good for us as well of course.
Hamster has put out Konami arcade games on PS4 such as Gradius, Life Force, Contra and Haunted Castle. Hopefully those come to Switch too. Go Hamster!
As soon as HAMSTER releases Mr Do! as an Arcade Archives, I won’t ever need another game on my Switch again
It's a long shot, but Die Hard Arcade would be rad. The Saturn version is too dang rare and expensive! Even the original JP version minus the Die Hard license would suffice.
And when is Nintendo releasing the Arcade Punchout?
Switch has to be the best handheld system for retro classics ever.
Bubble Bobble for me. It would be perfectly suited to local multiplayer for the Switch. While I still love Bubble Bobble, I was frustrated with it's disappointing sequel Rainbow Islands. Come to think of it, Gauntlet would also be worth a release for some classic 4 player co-op.
@madmatt213 Well, there was a Neo Geo Mr. Do! game. So who knows we might end up seeing that one 😉
@Lroy there actually was a Mr Do game on the Neo but was totally different from the arcade classic we know and love.
Whoops you knew that- misread your comment my apologies! 😆
@BillyB we need Warner Bros. To help us out with Gauntlet and a ton of other ex-Atari & Midway classics they own!
I need Bubble Bobble and R-type on Switch.
I’m just exploring which schmups to get, seems I’ll be spoiled for choice!
Capcom's Willow and Data East's RoboCop, were it not for the licensing, would be fantastic releases.
@joey302 No worries, do drop a line into the Arcade Archives thread chat going on about retro/arcade games: https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/nintendo-switch/arcade_archives?start=120
Plus, take a look at the arcade high score challenge thread too: https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/nintendo-switch/arcade_shmup_high_score_thread
Lots of great arcade game enthusiasm being shared.
I have the Super Famicom version of Aero Fighters 1 and I love it, but I’ve never tried the arcade version.
Thank goodness, something different to the same old Neo Geo stuff.
@Lroy awesome! Good to know thank you!
I got 2 holy grail arcade classics i would jump for joy if they come to Switch.
1. Bagitman
2. Phoenix from Taito.
Also gonne buy Dragons’ Lair. But that won’t be a Hamster game.
I mean, cool for fans of 80s and early 90s arcade titles. I guess the rest of us will just keep waiting for our nostalgia...
@Heavyarms55 You do realize that a good amount of these retro titles came out in the late 90s, and even early 2000s if we also include the Psikyo and Data East stuff. Anything more current is going to command a higher price, making the abundance of titles Hamster is putting out now simply not logical nor lucrative going further into the 00s. Even trying to procure more current libraries of more prominent publishers would be a huge cost vs. profit risk.
I think it really just comes down to your nostalgia not being old enough yet to have a large enough library without incurring a cost prohibitive place in the market.
These games wouldn't sell if that price point was even approaching $10 (or higher). Honestly, the price is the biggest draw. And it sounds like that prohibitive price point is also right where your happy nostalgia year to dollar ratio would lead. Like $15-20 easy. Hard sell. Many.
@Herman187 No, I really don't agree. I know a lot of people dying for the same sort of content that I am. The sheer abundance of people modding original hardware, or seeking things like the GDP win and other Chinese piracy machines to play them shows the demand is there.
