So you've got your lovely new Nintendo Switch and you're planning to take it out and about with you, to parties and such like. But let's be realistic here, this isn't a seemingly indestructible clamshell design like the 3DS, and you'll want to make sure you protect that precious 720p screen as well as carry some accessories around with you to boot.

With that in mind here are some of the best Nintendo Switch carrying cases that you can buy right now so you are ready to protect the portable powerhouse when it's out of the house.

Nintendo Switch Accessory Set

You can enjoy a full home-console experience anytime, anywhere with the official Nintendo Switch Accessory pack. This pack includes an attractive looking carrying case which has enough room to stash your Switch with Joy-Cons attached, and it also includes a screen protector. We don't really like screen protectors here at Nintendo Life and would probably use it as a drinks coaster instead, but you may think differently.

PDP Nintendo Switch Premium Console Case - Zelda Edition

PDP has a large range of officially-licensed Nintendo Switch cases on offer, but the Zelda edition is our favourite. It features a soft canvas zipper case, holds up to 14 game cards and even includes a cleaning cloth. It's also a bit of a bargain at only 15 bucks. We can only find this one in the US for now, but it looks like a winner.

All In One Armor Case

Are you the kind of person who likes to travel light or take the kitchen sink with you? If you are the latter then Subsonic's All In One Armor case might be the one for you. This hard case storage carrier for Nintendo Switch offers space for the console, Joy-Cons, a Pro Controller, cables, charger and games.

If you're serious about playing epics like Skyrim and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on planes, trains and automobiles - carrying around a Pro Controller would be a great idea. It's also very reasonably priced. This appears to be a Euro-only offering for the moment.

HORI Tough Pouch + Game Card Case 24

HORI is one of the best officially-licensed Nintendo accessory makers. We've bought their stuff for many years - going back to the GameCube days - and it never disappoints in terms of quality. The HORI tough pouch looks nice and simple, holding only the Switch with Joy-Cons attached and 5 games. The soft interior protects the Nintendo Switch from scratches and wear, as you might expect.

If you feel you'll want to carry more games with you, then you could also pick up the HORI game card case. It will fit in 24 Nintendo Switch game cards and also has a slot specially designed for a spare micro SD card. These HORI accessories appear to be US only for now, but you can be sure they will come to Europe soon enough.

Orzly Carry Case

Here's a low cost option for you from the wonderfully-named Orzly. The hard EVA shell will keep your Switch protected while the soft inner material ensures your device remains free from scratches. It fits the Nintendo Switch tablet, 2 x Joy-Con controllers, and features a separate inner pocket for cables, games, and other smaller but essential accessories.

RDS Industries Traveler Deluxe Case

This officially licensed Nintendo case is very popular on Amazon at the moment and boasts a durable hard shell case which holds and protects your precious Nintendo Switch. The padded divider protects screen and zippered mesh pockets hold extra Game Cards. It looks like another great value option for protecting your Switch.

Even More Nintendo Switch Cases

Last but not least, here are some more great Nintendo Switch cases and covers which you might not have considered.

Whichever case you decide on, you can rest easy in the knowledge that you're protecting your beloved Nintendo Switch. If you plan on taking your Switch out with you on your travels then a case is essential, and with lots of options to carry Pro Controllers, cables and game carts, you really are spoilt for choice here.
