As some of you may be aware, Monster Hunter X just launched in Japan only a few days ago. The follow up to last year's Monster Hunter 4G boasts a much more dynamic and fast paced combat system that should make most fights even more exciting and spectacular. While it's still not confirmed for the West, it's practically bound to happen given how successful Monster Hunter 4 was.
Nonetheless, it appears that Japan has taken to the newest installment quite well. A user on NeoGAF recently spotted that the game has just overtaken its predecessor on the eShop for total units sold, and in only three days of being out in the wild. While it's difficult to track sales on the eShop, we have some idea of how many digital units were sold. When it outdid Gunman Clive, that put it over 140K copies, so we know that sales have at least passed that milestone on the eShop.
What do you think? Will Capcom be releasing a Monster Hunter X Ultimate here in the West? How many hours have you put into Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

R.I.P Monster Hunter 4G
I'm going to miss that game when I'm importing a JP N3DS & MHX to my house.
Monster Hunter does not seem to end! I could wait for an eventual release in the states as I have not gotten 4 yet.
Got the demo. I love that game. You can play as Felynes! FELYNES!!! <3
I put about 150 hours into 3U when I got 4U. I'm now about 600 hours into 4U, and can say not only is it my favourite 3DS game but one of the best games ever made. Truly need MHX in my life.
I would consider importing if it weren't so expensive. Could I hack one of my old 3DS to be region free and play this game online? Probably not, eugh! Really don't want to wait years for localisation :/
Judging from the demo, this game deserves it. They improved the animation and they pushed the 3DS to the very edge of its limits to achieve the best graphics on the 3DS ever with a good framerate.
Is there a nice collection of the updates this game introduces somewhere, or would just watching some gameplay on youtube sum it up enough? Interested in checking this out. Haven't been paying attention to it.
Now gimme it.
@Retro_on_theGo Capcom Jp released a few videos displaying the different "Hunting Arts" and hunting styles that give you an idea of whats going on with all the flashy moves they show in the first trailer. Gaijinhunter, Kogath, and Arekkz have the game and are playing it, lots of updates on their twitters and respective YouTube channels (all in English too)

It looks great...too bad I can't get into monster hunter.
Will there be an ultimate version of this game?
I'll buy the MH4 in the eshop Cyber Deals, vut I'm afraid it won't be worth the hundreds of hours I'll probably spend on it, depending on how long it will take to this game come to the west. MHX have a lot of improvements I like and there is no way to carry on items and weapons from MH4...
@amiiboacid I'd imagine there will be if they release it here. Generally enhanced versions of these games come out a little after the original, and that's the one that they localise.
I just finally broke my Monster Hunter 4U addiction to actually get to some of my game backlog, and then you have to go and get me hyped for more Monster Hunter. THIS ARTICLE IS AN ENABLER!
This is great news! With how well 4U sold in the west and how well X has been received in Japan hopefully it won't be too terribly long before we see X over here.
I cant wait to buy it =)
Nintendo.....buy Capcom before Monster Hunter becomes more of a Sony exclusive where they will make it worse and if it fails to reach 2 million, Monster hunter is gone.
Not into it but its good to hear that it sold well and for those looking forward to it. And let me guess.....we'll get some Monster Hunter character in Smash instead of a first party character?
last time i checked time spent on mh4u was 1500 hrs. ive finally had my fill now though. i even finished zelda LBW yesterday. there are other games out there hunters, lol
Heh, I just started MH3 last weekend. I hope I can catch up with these games for when X launches over here.
I need X, and i want it now,......
Ultimate version for the wiiu svp,...
They better not take forever to bring this over here...going to avoid all videos of Cross this time. (besides, I got 4U to mess with still)
That is amazing! And sorta annoying considering I am still doing Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and yet have tons to do! Then there is my previous playthrough of 3 Ultimate with my sister -_-
Well the localization is probably going to take some time so better get moving to beat 4U! Which will take time since I just started Kid Icarus: Uprising and am hooked! And then Xenoblade comes out in 3 days as well 0.0
I think the super extra sales might also be due to the fact that extra hunting styles are being added. Combat will become more flashy so I can see previous detractors of the series actually liking the new options more.
Nintendo are doomed, no 3rd party support, needs record breaking games zzzzzzzzzzzzz...
The plethora of new things this game introduces has overloaded the hype beyond imagination, and also caused a comparably massive 3DS import wave from western players, who then got the digital version of MHX to avoid long waiting times for a physical copy.
@Artwark Considering that Monster Hunter started its glorious streak on Sony consoles, I doubt it would fail there. But Sony fans have both GOD EATER and Toukiden to fill their hunting needs, and I don't think Capcom would want to butt in there at this point.
I only just bought Monster Hunter 4 last week! Enjoying it so far though.
Damn, love the series! Cannot wait to get it when it eventually gets a UK release, hope it's not too long of a wait.
@Moon Yes, you can. If your 3DS system is not up-to-date and you own a certain game or never connected it to Internet without taking some security measures.
This week Media Create chart will be fun. MHX will slaughter everyone and will continue for weeks.
Hopefully it comes to the West, as it can give much life to ageing 3DS.
Considering how successful it's apparently been in Japan, it would be curious if they did not release it in the west. And that's not even considering the success of MH4U. Hopefully localization won't take too long.
If this is released it might be a good place for me to start playing Monter Hunter.
It will be localized, Capcom has seen the steady growth of MH in the west, so if they want to keep the momentum, this one one be out as well.
We need this game already finished every quest in MH4U send this game to us early 2016 please!!
So it's already out in Japan? Wonder if there'll be an enhanced remake called Monster Hunter XG.
XG...
GX....
F-Zero GX 2 confirmed!!!
Monster Hunter 4G is a game that's been on my wishlist for a while now, but I haven't bought it yet. Should I wait for this new version now?
@Artwark
Monster Hunter started on Playstation, and has actually been more successful than ever with Nintendo, so I wouldn't worry about that one bit.
I wouldn't want Nintendo to buy Capcom, much less Monster Hunter. That would mean Capcom would have to answer to them when it comes to everything, from game design to localization and if/when it gets made.
Nintendo isn't much better about handling less popular series either, MH could just as easily become the next F-Zero or Metroid.
