While perusing the 3DS eShop notifications and wondering why on Earth Tetris is being removed from the store, we saw a far more helpful message outlining that the download platform has a hefty chunk of maintenance on the way.
There'll be a little over seven hours of downtime, though maintenance taking down the eShop stores is relatively common. Just so you're not trying to buy some goodies on 1st December, though, the times of the disruption are below.
From Monday 1st December at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK / 7pm CET until Monday 1st December at 5:15pm Pacific / 8:15pm Eastern / 1:15am UK (02/12) / 2:15am CET (02/12)
Affected Services:
- Nintendo 3DS eShop
- Wii U eShop
- Wii Shop
- Nintendo DSi Shop
That's your lot. As this maintenance happens fairly regularly we wouldn't hold out hope that anything hugely exciting will happen, but we're pretty sure the stores will be very stable afterwards.

I hope they would add dedicated servers for better online experience.
You can never have enough of some good ol' system stability.
@Azooooz it's a free service what more so u expect?
@PinkSpider since when does something being free mean it couldn't be better? I expect them to do everything it takes to keep the service working as well as it can. That is all.
There's nothing wrong with the service as it is though. I haven't had any problems all year. not had one laggy match on Mario kart 8 or anything. Can't complain at all here. Nintendo are doing a fine job
Online works fine more or less and let's stress for one more time that it is FREE.
Maybe they'll put that nifty Christmassy music on the Wii U eshop again...
@PinkSpider for the most part your spot on but their entire system collapsed last Xmas you might remember and smash, a popular online game has just released so demand for servers will be at an all time high this festive period. I'm personally very happy with the service but more people means Nintendo act and they have been a bit slow on the uptake of new ideas lately!
@ULTRA-64 I've had far more problems using Sony's paid PSN than I've had using Nintendo's free Nintendo Network service.
All the big games are having online problems on launch at the moment.
Bad timeing Nintendo with Smash bros Wii U and Pokèmon ORAS!
well this sucks. I don't have money to download any games until the 1st and a lot of the ones I want, the sales expire after that date.
@Pokefanmum82 get up early and download on the morning of the 1st, before going to work?
Good to see this. Hopefully this is prep for Christmas so what happened last year doesn't occur again. NN is pretty decent for free, but not on par with PSN and XBL. (But they're paid services.)
Hopefully the eShop will be stable enough to handle the many Christmas sales.
@WebHead
Well, PSN only requires payment on PS4 and only for online gaming, so the reason why PSN is so much better lies in the fact that it's been around much longer.
@AVahne plus it has more features and such. Though admittingly, with the problems PSN has been having lately that PS plus money isn't being used effectively.
A little off topic but, It would be cool if they remixed the NSMBU Frosted Glacier Overworld and Athletic theme for the Eshop.
@WebHead I was about to comment on PSN's down times lately.
Thanks for the heads up. Now I have to make sure I download everything I want that's on sale before Monday.
Oh my god i think the maintenance started early for me!Cause i can't access the eshop for no reason lol,oh god i'm losing my sanity cause of this.
Download Tetris from the 3DS eShop now, if you haven't already! I D'loaded it day one when it came out...
Just as Ultimate Tetris launches, the VC version disappears... Coincidence?
Every time an eShop update occurs, I hope that they will put SNES games on the eShop... but they never do...
@potatomage7 There's plenty of SNES games on the eShop... If you own a Wii-U!
I think he meant n64
No, I'd be willing to bet he meant SNES. There are thousands of gamers who have been chomping at the bit to have SNES games put onto the 3DS VC. Sadly, Nintendo has been rather inconsistent with their statements. First they said they'd like to keep portable VCs on 3DS and console VCs on Wii U and yet...NES games are on both and GBA games are on Wii U only (with the exception of those part of the ambassadors program).
That being said, now that you mention N64 on VC...I doubt that's ever going to happen either. Nintendo has been saying for nearly a year and a half now that we'd see N64 games on Wii U and still nothing.
Wow, the top icons on the 3ds eshop look horrible, and it takes like 15 seconds for the 3ds go to into sleep mode when in the shop.
