Why release a game that started on mobile devices on a home console? Wouldn't the 3DS have been a more natural recipient?
I think Paper Monsters is a way better for real buttons then a touch screen.
When we started Paper Monsters in 2010 we just wanted to bring a good platformer to mobile. At the time there really wasn't much on the App store like it yet or much at all really. Indie development was a lot tougher 4 (almost 5 when i started working it) years ago.
The options for a new guy working from home were really go mobile or make a PC game no one would ever find. We went with mobile and along the way made a lot of sacrifices.
This is basically the game we wanted to make 4 years ago but just couldn't for a lot of reasons.
I think people forget we aren't some big company. We are a couple dudes mostly getting feedback from our kids!

Because the paper graphics requires HD to really give an illusion of paper?
Man, somebody should have alerted Nintendo of this "fact" before they wasted their time making Paper Mario games for sub-HD systems!
The only "paper" about Paper Mario is in the gameplay mechanics with the shifts of dimensions. The surfaces in Paper Mario have no paper textures that could give an illusion of realism (like Paper Monsters Recut does).
I got the game today, played like 3 or 4 levels. Cute little platformer, I like it so far. But I think the main character should have more sound clips to add variety.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
It's an easy platformer aimed at beginners and kids.
If you look for something that's on the same difficulty level as Kirby and below, then it's an alright choice.
Platforming veterans that are used to Mario, DKC, or Rayman will likely complete it in 4 - 5 hours and won't find anything original or truly outstanding in it.
It's a little rough around the edges and buggy too.
It was a pretty fun game, and overall it works just fine (with the exception of some bugs). In one of the space-levels I sank through the platforms a few times. One of the space-levels has a very bad framerate. And the buggy mini-game did freeze on me (but this problem is already known). Also if you go to a platform on the left in the endboss level, your character dissapears but you can keep scrolling the screen to the left. You even see Little Red in the air!
By the way: How do I get 100%, and what happens then? I have found everything, but the menu still shows 99%. Some people say that's also a glitch. But I wonder if you do unlock something when hitting 100%!
This game looks really cool and if I didn't have such an enormous backlog already I would pick it up but with Monster Hunter coming out next Friday I have no idea when I will be able to do so.

I've enjoyed playing it.
Super easy, but great visuals, it's a good game for relaxing.
I am interested in entertaining people, in bringing pleasure, particularly laughter, to others, rather than being concerned with "expressing" myself with obscure creative impressions. - Walt Disney
I beat it a few weeks ago. It was fairly easy, but I enjoyed it a lot. Not every 2D platformer needs to be hard. It was relaxing, and good, simple fun. I also really liked the music and graphics. I was actually conflicted about playing off-TV on the Gamepad because I didn't want to miss the visuals in HD (I did anyway; it just seemed right).

Yeah, the game isn't hard or a award-winner by any means. And I am not the biggest fan of the graphics. But in the end it was a fun and relaxing platformer. And it was charming.
It seems I am missing 1 gold-button, most definitely on the overworld. Since I think there weren't that many gold-buttons on the overworld, where may the last one be? Anyone?

Sorry no love for Austrailia (or Germany for that matter). I wish we could but it's much more complicated and more so expensive than it should be.
UPDATE:
We have also submitted an update with more than 30 bug fixes and Pro-Controller support.
It's just waiting for approval.
We just didnt realize what all we had to get set up to submit an update.
Lesson learned and we'll be much faster in the future.
:/
We are also working on a Wii U exclusive 3D super action mini platformer with tons of unlockable characters. I think it's gonna be really awesome.
