Yeah, it'll probably look exactly the same just on a lower resolution. Since the screen is smaller than what the games original output is supposed to be it should be able to looks really good on a small screen even if it doesn't support HD.

Yep, and that's all that's important really. If they can make it look the same without a HD screen then it's better to not waste more money by adding one.
I just want a new Metroid. Don't care if it's on Wii U or 3DS. Just a new Metroid.

Honestly I'm very uncertain....The Wii had the whole motion control going for it.....it was so new and exciting. The Wii U has a controller with a touch screen on it, it's not really living up to it's predecessor in the excitement department.
They say the "U" in the title "Wii U" is about tailoring a gaming experience to you and you alone....but I haven't seen anything yet that gives me that feeling.
Developers seem to be looning over the Wii U though (or maybe that's just EA) so there must be something that's going to grab attention.
As it stands right now, I'd still get the Wii U.....but probably wouldn't be a first day purchase.
The tablet isn't HD and there's no way that it can look exactly the same as an HDTV, unless it includes a built-in HD screen, which it doesn't.
From what I've read is that there is a noticeable difference when playing on the tablet in this regards, and what remains to be seen is how great of a difference it will be when playing a game that features extreme HD graphics via an HDTV and then swapping to the non-HD tablet.
There are just so many unanswered question about Wii U currently that need to be answered, and that is the reason that the market hasn't yet gotten excited over the system.
Wii U can only support one Wii U tablet per console, and the tablet isn't HD and there's no way that it can look exactly the same as an HDTV, unless it includes a built-in HD screen, which it doesn't.

Since the screen is smaller, it can render the graphics at a lower resolution and still look good. Look at RE: Revelations, it looks amazing on the 3DS, but put it on a big HDTV and it will look like a blurry mess.

That's not true. The only thing they said was that they don't have any plans on selling the WiiU Pad separately.
“Let me correct something that is a misconception. We said that the Wii U system will come with one Wii U controller, but we haven’t said that you can only use one Wii U controller. The fact is that if the developer makes a game or an experience that uses more than one, then anything is possible.”
And where did you hear that the change from the TV to the Pad was 'a noticeable difference`? Just wondering, I've only read some articles on IGN and Gamereactor. Everyone have said the games looked great on the Pad.
Well it's got the potential of being the next best console of all time. Best graphics for now, compatible with Wii controllers, new controller that could make the experience deeper and more diverse, hopefully great online, ... We haven't seen anything final about the system though so i'm not very hyped about it yet. Best thing for me would be to really have more adult oriented and less watered down 3rd party games on the console. As soon as i see there are great games coming to the system i'll consider a buy.
Edit: Local multiplayer could easily benefit from the new controller.
PS: Talked about some gamplay ideas in this thread.
Look at RE: Revelations, it looks amazing on the 3DS
I've got to disagree with you here. I was very disappointed with the graphics of this game on 3DS, they're just not near where I expected them to be for a system that cost as much as it did.
@19Robb92 I stand corrected on the multiple tablets, and thanks for clarifying that. That info slipped by me somehow - most likely when I was insanely busy writing for other site after E3, Haha.
As for the graphics in comparison to the tablet and an HDMI television, read what I stated in my original post. I said that there's a 'noticeable' difference when viewed on the tablet compared to an the HDMI TV, which most of the sites stated - not a negative statement at all, and completely justifiable from a tech standpoint as well . I did not say that there is a 'severely noticeable' difference, or anything of the sorts.
The point I'm making, which I thought I was clear about in the original post, is that the screen is not HDMI and even when compressed down to a smaller sized screen, which does indeed sharpen the image, games that push the systems hardware to its limits graphically, will most definitely take a significant drop when playing on the tablet alone. For most Nintendo fans this isn't an issue at all, but for those in the audience that Nintendo is trying to reclaim with Wii U, this kind of thing matters. HD gaming is now a commonplace staple in the industry and is a minimum standard for home consoles. While Wii U is HD compatible and the tablet does offer near-HD graphics, others looking for a way to get home console type gaming in a handheld device that doesn't tie up their homes television, this could likely sway to Vita's HD handheld, home console gaming experience instead.
It's a big concern of mine for Wii U going forward and one that Nintendo is very obviously worried about as well. And as I already stated before, it's another unanswered one of the many question that's still to be answered about the system.

Hopefuly Nintendo blasts some color and fun into the Wii U Console design. I know it's just a Proto Type, but so far it's looking pretty dull, uncreative and uninspired...It's bad enough that they completely ignored it during the E3 Presentation in favor of the Controller only, which is a FIRST in Nintendo Land.
Yawnnnn.....
WOAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! lol
I'd love it if the Wii U had a stand with a glossy cake layered multi shaded color design like the Aqua Blue 3DS, but in Sky Blue. And of course, the Wii U logo is a must.
It looks like Nintendo's take on Apple-style aesthetics and design.
Minimalism is awesome. The second design there is terrible. Looks like a kids' toy.
I still have some mixed feelings. Clearly, HD is great as well as the ability to play in the pad while my wife watches her favourite shows at the TV is very compeling. In the other hand, it is pretty obvious to me that most third party releases will not support the Wii remote and, as such, the biggest selling point of the Wii for me is gone. I really hate dual analog controllers to play shooters. Also, there are a lot of buttons in the Wii U controller, which means games interfaces will be as complicated as in the PS3/360, which is another minus to me. In the end, it will be the same. Nintendo and few outside developers will get it and create some good games, whereas most of the third party titles will be lacklusting in some way.
No it isn't. It's a great art/ design aesthetic. It's the entire reason that Apple products are popular.
I guess if you can't appreciate good aesthetics then it'd be boring, but that's your problem.
Anyways, these videogame consoles 'ARE' toys.
No. They're videogame consoles. They occupy space in a living room, and kids toy design doesn't suit every living room.
does everything have to be Mr. serious 'I'm a man' black and white with you?
No. It needs to be sleek and stylish.
god forbid we throw in a splash of color to make things more interesting, but nahh....'color' is for kids. sigh*
There are ways to use colour. Apple uses colour. Minimalist artists use colour. If that image is how Nintendo has decided to use colour, then the Wii U is an ugly console. That is a terrible hue of blue, and looks like it's been randomly thrown onto the thing.
