You're doing it wrong... :/

I think you would agree that spamming the same attack button over and over again in Super Smash Bros. isn't fun? So why would you do that? Same goes for Bayonetta (or any game for that matter)..

Bayonetta and it's sequel are far from button-mashers. There's a level of patience and finesse required to do well, and also a matter of knowing when to fight and when to evade. I'm going to be working on a tips video for when the game comes out, which should hopefully be helpful to those new to the series.

@bezerker99 Don't blame the game, the fault is entirely on you . Calling this game a button masher is just wrong. I myself was worried if this game was a button masher when the game was revealed. After playing the demo, my doubts were shut for good

Tried out the Demo, freaking sold and will pick up the game day 1. The demo is around 10~15 minutes long and it sells the game REALLY well! What I love the most is the combos and how different weapon totally handles differently!!

Umbran Climax is just the shiet! This game is wayyyyy to similar to Devil May Cry (not the reboot crap), and that is a BIG plus point for me!

Pretty much my experience but it was still fun lol.

I imagine once you learn the combo's better, the game will come together more. Right now it just feels like a button masher.

Alot of it has to do with dodging. There's basically no room for error with higher difficulties and further into the game. That goes for alot of games, and this is just a starter demo that's obviously near the beginning of the game.

Yeah, some people are going to feel this way. But Kamiya and P* Games makes games that are hard to master. He grew up in the arcade's and it was all about impressing the "gallery" watching behind you with your style and skills. Their games today reflect that era. Most people see it as simply spamming or "button mashing" instead of taking time to learn, master, and put on a show to the gallery of yesteryear. A great interview about Kamyia is here if anyone were interested in leaning more about one of the most unique game designers today.

Erm, Hideiki Kamiya only did the story and supervision, Bayo2 is Anabi's and Hashimoto's baby. But yeah, if it still plays anything like the first, the game is a lot more fun if you actually take the time to learn the mechanics. Lots of games can be cheaped through, but you're only cheating yourself if you take the easy way out. That's not just a way to enjoy a game, that's how you enjoy life, man.

They aren't bad games, you are just bad at them. There is a difference.

in conclusion:
W101 - too convoluted
Bayo2 - too basic
end of.

The demo left me speechless honestly - the way this game is shaping up, it might as well become the greatest action game ever.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Only if it can beat the previous "Best Action Game Ever"... which most people consider to be Bayonetta 1 lol

The people who say the demo was to basic/easy/whatever, did they really get platinum on all things in the demo? Personally, I find it pretty challenging to get above silver (using buttons, haven't tested the touch controls).

Ah, the joy of "this is a stupid button masher" or "duh, it only uses two buttons, it sucks". Its music to my ears
Im so glad, that other action games use 26 buttons for their combat system...
In all honesty, i played the demo and the only thing i though was:
"half a month more...just half a month..." I can hardly wait, preordered the collectors edition bundle box collection thingy

But, here are some tasks for the more simple minded people here:

  • Name an action / hack and slay game, where you "dont just spam buttons"
  • Can your favorite game be judged in about 10 minutes ?
  • What do you consider a "deep combat system" in a game like this, that would work in this type of game.

And just for the heck of it: @bezerker99 Just to annoy you as much as your shallow opinion annoys me Have a great day.

@Retro_on_theGo Well, since DmC was the definition of a flop, id say its the best since MGS Rising Revengance, which is, if you ask me, THE go to action hack and slash game period !
But yeah, judging by the demo, Bayonetta 2 isnt that different from one, which automatically makes it leagues better than its current competitors

Of course they didn't. I would assume Stone Medal or Bronze Medal, silver at best.

If you don't bother learning how to play you'll be punished with crappy rewards.

So long as you learned your lesson. I'm not deleting that one post I wrote, though. I like it too much.
