Topic: Sad News From The Boston Marathon....

I highly doubt that North Korea had anything to do with this. To me it seems more like a domestic terrorist than something from the outside. Besides not sure if this has anything to do with it but today in Massachusetts is Patriots day a day that celebrates the start of the American Revolution.

Makes no sense. Unless the ones responsible are mentally ill and/or uninformed, I don't how targeting a marathon will get their point across.

Sure, there's a lot of vulnerable people, but when I'm confronted by a tiger I don't run away from it to kill a different tiger in hope to get my point acrossed.

• It is said at the latest that 140 people over 150 people were injured while 3 fatalities (from 2) had been documented so far
• Of the 140 injuries, 15 victims are currently in critical condition while it's reported that as many as 10 victims suffered severed limbs
• A handful of people from the medical centers are being questioned

• It has been documented so far that up to 176 people were injured from the incident, with as many as 17 people in critical condition
• The eight year-old child involved in one of the casualties is identified as a Dorchester resident Martin Richard, whose mother and sister were also injured from the incident and are being treated in one of the medical centers
• Massachusetts governor says there were no additional bombs
• According to Boston Globe, the detonated bombs were apparently homemade bombs fitted with "prepared" shrapnel materials

If you're a terrorist, and you want people to be scared no matter where they are, you hit a target like this. If it was always predictable targets, then people could reasonably feel safe anywhere. Terrorists hit an event like this in hopes of planting that seed of fear in your mind at every gathering.

This wasn't an efficient execution of terrorism. Seems like a bunch of desperate amateurs to me.

Amateur terrorists, that's what I said. Still a threat as long as they're still out there but I doubt they'll be free forever.

Apparently 4 of the 17 critically injured victims are in grave shape and could die at any time.

• From the latest investigations, it is implied that a circuit board, pressure cooker, and "small pellets and small 'sharp-nail' like objects" were parts that composed of the detonated bomb(s)

I'm still not sure why we need what basically amounts to a running news ticker thread regarding the bombings on this site. There are plenty of sites and news stations to go to for this information. I'm just saying.

I had this in mind while I made my posts, so I'll address it:

I'm sorry for posting the updates if it makes anybody uncomfortable, as I feel that this is somewhat a state of emergency. People in this thread were making discussions about the issue, and so it doesn't seem right for anyone involved in this thread to not have the important information. In addition, it may be better for the concerned people to slowly digest the information for the better. So I decided to take the precautionary route and provide consolidated updates of what's going on on this thread.

Things have settled and it's reported that the U.S. forces and investigation don't detect any more threats. And for the gist of the overall situation, Boston Globe published a constantly updated summary about what has happened so far.

Not quite. Theoretically, posting the actual YouTube video on this thread will more likely make the users curious since the thumbnail is exposed and one can just press the play button. Mechanically speaking, clicking the link isn't that much different from pressing the play button on the embedded player

but...

the human mind should be considered, as we are curious creatures.

As for the video of the actual explosion, users should not only provide a YouTube link, but they should also provide a warning for others. The video captures serious content that may be too intense for some people to see. Do keep in mind that we have people as young as 13 years old in the threads.
