Re: Soapbox: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Won't Be The Franchise's 'BOTW Moment', And That's Okay

theGamerPad

This is a stupid article. Of course Prime 4 is going to be a Prime game and not anything drastically different. Its not a new series. Secondly, Prime was Metroid’s BotW moment. Third - This is WAY TOO early to have this discussion. We hardly know anything about the game, there can be a lot of new gameplay evolutions here. The first time Nintendo shows its major games, a year + from release, they often don’t show off the new mechanics. They unveil those closer to launch.

Re: Sega Reports 'Sluggish' Sales Of Sonic Superstars And Other Major Titles

theGamerPad

@Banjo- majority of game sales, for most games, happen in the first couple weeks. Only things like big Nintendo titles, GTA, COD and Minecraft sell months after release. Sega had to drop the price down to $40, even $30 fast. It was $30 (half price sale) before Christmas. So think how they had to sell 2x as many copies to make the same money as opening week. Now its down to $20.

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

theGamerPad

It needs to be backwards compatible more than any previous console especially for preservation purposes.

Lets be honest, the joycons are the least reliable controller Nintendo has made. The Switch 2 undoubtedly will have a new controller which in the future will make joycon drift and such failures irrelevant

Its also a portable/hybrid system, not a standard console. As soon as 3DS stopped production the systems and games went UP in price. A N2DSXL console USED goes for the price of a new switch. This hardware gets damaged more than consoles, screens get scratched etc. its going to be less likely Switch consoles will be preserved as well as previous Nintendo consoles

If its not backwards compatible i will never buy digital from Nintendo again

Re: Contra: Operation Galuga Blasts Onto Switch In Early 2024

theGamerPad

@RupeeClock I agree. I hate this art style and character models. Seems like a poor choice for a remake too, I love Contra and never thought this needed a remake (Maybe Operation C). Wayforward did Contra 4 and that art style was much better than this. This looks almost amateur

Re: Review: Chained Echoes - One Of The Very Best RPGs Of The Year

theGamerPad

@frabbit yeah but it doesn’t take very long to get tapped out of all of that library. Then all you have to look forward to are new additions. Similar to netflix. No matter how much content they have, only a fraction of it is appealing to each person, and once you’ve seen it, There’s no need to see again

Re: Review: Chained Echoes - One Of The Very Best RPGs Of The Year

theGamerPad

@frabbit the game is only $10 more than a 1 month sub or $5 less than a 2 month sub. Is there really going to be another game of quality content added to GamePass in the next 2 months? Not likely. So pay a $30 rental fee for 2 months or $25 and own it.

There’s also a lot of ways to get a discounted eShop card. Like Costco always has $50 cards for $40.

Re: Blood Bowl 3 Gets A Release Date, But As Usual, Switch Owners Will Need To Wait

theGamerPad

@JeanPaul Mutant League is fun. Its obvious more Arcade style and fast paced like a Blitz game

I played BloodBowl2 on PS4 years ago, and its fun in the sense that its something different...i think i might have preferred humans and more normal style football than monsters, but it is unique in its chess/strategy type moves. You don’t really control the players i think, it was more like coaching simulator. As a football fan, you’ll probably appreciate it

Re: The Nintendo 64 Platformer Glover Is Coming Soon To Switch

theGamerPad

@Chibi_Manny here’s the thing, it’s no longer ps3/360 era and before. Pretty much everything will continue to be re-released or even reprinted if a dollar can be made. I don’t think nearly as many games will be lost forever. Companies like LRG are re-releasing PS4 games on PS5 even with it having backwards compatibility. It seems like from this point on into the future the digital stores will carry over and remain backwards compatible. There are PS3 games that got remasters on PS4 getting released on PS5.

Retro collectors and gaming archivists shouldnt apply older generations logic and fomo onto modern gaming. The industry realizes the value in keeping these alive much more than in the past and often future proof their licensing

Re: A New Bayonetta 3 Report Features A Differing Account Of PlatinumGames’ VA Pay Offer

theGamerPad

@TheStormGL eh. I dunno. $15k - $20k for 20hrs of work is pretty good. Especially for a game that might not sell that well, or I should say might not profit that much.

Bayonetta has been kinda niche and only really exists so Nintendo can have a M-rated exclusive. Its more about strengthening their library for the system than expecting it to be a big seller.

Its Nintendo’s big title of Q4 (non Pokemon) and they’re not advertising it at all. That probably reflects how little extra budget is left or how little they expect it to sell

Shes out of her mind thinking Bayonetta has made $450m

Re: Fired Nintendo Worker Comes Forward With An Account Of Their Dismissal

theGamerPad

She clearly violated the terms by tweeting that out, and it’s absolutely unnecessary to tweet it out, if she’s willing to chase clout or brag in such a public forum about her position or about the work going on, who knows what she says to people privately. Its a huge red flag and risk. Very stupid of her

As far as her question to Bowser, she’s asking him/Nintendo which is the wrong place to even direct that question. It SHOULD go to the firm that should hire her, as that is her real employer, not Nintendo. Secondly, even issues like this with Nintendo is really supposed to be directed to Nintendo Japan not NoA.

Being fired for the question would be messed up, but her tweet is the clear and obvious violation that would lead to firing of someone so low on the totem pole, unimportant and replaceable disclosing any private information about a company highly concerned about leaks

Re: Nintendo Confirms Physical Edition Of First Bayonetta, Launching This Year

theGamerPad

@HammerGalladeBro probably a few things going on here

  • Nintendo was unsure how well the Bayonetta ports would sell since it wasnt particularly great on Wii U, so they wanted to have just 1 SKU and not have 1 & 2 compete. So 1 didnt get a physical since 2 is where Nintendos money is
  • Bayonetta sold better on Switch than it did on Wii U, so they are probably happy to see there is some life and excitement for the franchise and think they could release a small physical print. Probably 100k or 200k copies. They know it will sell out and not leave overstock
  • Bayonetta 3’s success and sales are likely not threatened by Bayonetta 1’s release a month before, in a way, its promotion for 3

Re: Sonic Origins Arrives 23rd June, New Trailer And Website Are Live

theGamerPad

This collection is lame and so bungled in a way only Sega can do. Half of these games are already on the cheaper Sega collection (+48 other games). This is way too expensive for what it is; but then they also made a bunch of different money grab versions. Something as simple as these ports should have been available almost immediately in the announcement and hype of the 30th anniversary or the movie release.
