What if Nintendo released a new patch of Splatoon amiibo, with one being the Octoling? Completing the challenges set by the Octoling unlocks her as a playable character, or costume.
I hope people realize that this isn't a popularity contest. The highest requested characters may not fit into the loose definition of what "Smash Bros." is. Say a character like Ridley gets the most votes. That doesn't mean he'll be included as a playable fighter. Sakurai already is against the idea because he doesn't want to water down Ridley's large menacing persona. I respect that. I preferably think Splatoon's Inkling will be an excellent inclusion, but I think whoever is put into the game will make a lot of people happy.
I've been hesitant about this Disney Inifinty. Honestly 2.0 was a little disappointing to me, and I wasn't sure where the series was going anymore, if anywhere (similar to what happened to Epic Mickey). I didn't want to think that Disney Infinity was becoming an annual release type of series where little improvement was made between the games. For this installment the additions of Yoda, Han Solo, Mickey Mouse and Mulan were not enough to make me too excited. I wanted to here how good the game was, particularly on Wii U. Fortunately, I've heard good things about 3.0, albeit for Xbox One and PS4 additions of the game. With assurance from Nintendo Life on its play sets being fun and its toy box mode being intuitive, I think I'll be picking this up afterall.
prior to announcement me: Well, it looks neat and all, but I don't know if it simply being a crossover brawler is enough for me. adds Chrom and Lucina me: Where can I preorder?
@Wolfgabe that is also true. Adventures, Assault, and Command weren't received well, certainly not as well as the original Star Fox or Star Fox 64. It's a shame that in an attempt to give people what they want, people accuses Zero of being too simple in comparison to Assault. It's like the superb Ocarina of Time was accused of too much hand-holding, which later appeared in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. A Link Between Worlds remedies that but instead was accused of being too narratively simple I'm comparison to the previous entries (a complaint that was carried over into TriForce Heroes). Double Dash!! was too different while Mario Kart Wii was too similar to older titles. Melee was too fast and Brawl was too slow. Not everything will be appeased by a title, especially when an audience doesn't fully know what they really want. I'm excited by Star Fox Zero and the direction it has taken, but I'm not going to protend that fans of the more "recent" GCN Star Fox titles are equally satisfied.
@TobiasAmaranth I'm sorry you feel this way. I feel the same way about Krystal in many ways, and while it's unsurprising that she will not appear in Star Fox Zero it is disappointing. At least Katt Monroe is in the game, and I think she's cool. The problem with the Star Fox series is that it lacks consistency. I think part of the issue is that Adventures, Assault, and Command were all developed by different people who took radically different interpretations of how Star Fox's story should progress. I can't even think of a logical way that any sequel can follow Command's branching plot(s) without making someone unhappy. Star Fox (NES), the unreleased Star Fox 2, Star Fox 64, and Star Fox Zero were all developed by Nintendo's in house development team (plus additional polish and level design from Argonaut Games in the first two titles, and Platinum Games in the last), and knowing how comparable those games are, Star Fox Zero's direction is not surprising. I know that Miyamoto in particular has been displeased with the direction that the Star Fox series has taken, and he probably felt that his Thunder Birds-esque game about animals in space was becoming too complicated for his taste. But Star Fox Zero turned out this way just because Miyamoto is developing it. The other franchises he actively works on like Pikmin and Mario also lack particularly profound character development and instead focus on gameplay. Not all Nintendo franchises suffer from this though. I think The Legend of Zelda and Metroid series in particular can have very deep and fleshed out narratives, and I appreciate that from them. The RPG's developed for their systems - such as Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, and Pokémon - can be surprisingly complex. Even HAL Laboratory's Kirby has a connected narrative between titles (not the most complex one, but I still think it's neat). This is just my personal taste, but I personally love Fox and the gang's designs for Zero. Because several Star Fox games were developed by different companies with different designers, I feel like all of the characters look completely different between titles, and that has always bothered me. However, in this title Fox somehow maintains a consistent look. To me he looks like as he did in Star Fox 64, Command, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Smash 4 all at once and I appreciate this. I also like how fluffy he looks. While Adventures still had its charm, I've always just favored Fox, Peppy and Slippy's designs from the older Star Fox titles. I think this is the best they've looked in years.
@Yorumi I believe Nintendo has poured a lot of soul, love, and breath into Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS & Wii U, Mario Kart 8, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Woolly World, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. I'm sorry you were disappointed.
I look forward to seeing what they will do with Star Fox Zero. I like the direction they are taking with it. Because the more the more recent titles - Adventures, Assault, and Command - were all handled by different developers, who all took approaches that Miyamoto disliked, I think Zero is a specific attempt to go back to basics.
@Mister_Wu the Koopalings have never been Bowser's children except in US really. Of course Miyamoto, who is based in Japan, would honestly state otherwise.
Toads have never formally been gender-defined until Nintendo was asked, so it ' snot like they're going back on their word. And given that they are based on mushrooms, sexless life forms, it makes sense.
Yoshi is a dinosaur. Yoshi had always been acknowledged as a dinosaur.
Will interact with the main series games?! Color me intrigued. I think it'd be awesome if you can upload the creatures you catch into the Pokémon Bank and use them in the main games. Or vice versa, you can access your Pokémon from the main games and battle with them in Pokémon Go.
I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed. I feel like ever since Steve Jobbs passed away Apple has had difficulty in keeping momentum and staying relevant. It is still a recognizable brand name, and Macs are often considered the best laptop, but they seem hesitant to push the envelope. Microsoft and Nintendo have been making greater strides in technological and conceptual developments. Apple on the other hand is producing an Apple TV on par with 2006 technology.
@rushiosan this isn't Smash Bros. In Hyrule Warriors, Young Link and Link play completely differently. It's assumed that Toon Link will also play completely different and utilize his arsenal from The Wind Waker, similar to how Young Link uses the Ocarina of Time and Fierce Deity Mask. The appeal comes from people's love of Wind Waker; some people consider it their favorite Zelda game.
A part of me sincerely hopes there is more to this game than meets the eye, but I feel like if there was we would know about it by now. I appreciate that Nintendo is using Chibi-Robo in a new way, and a simple platformer may draw in a broader audience. However, based on the genuine heart and soul put into previous installments, ones that were based on an original concept, this title seems to be a let down.
But who am I kidding. I'll probably still buy that Chibi-Robo amiibo.
I don't get some of these comments. It's true that the two were originally let go, but if you read the full story, you'd learn that their car was confiscated. After the firearms were discovered, they were BOTH arrested. They were not let off the hook. Do you honestly think Boston's police would've just brushed something like this off after the Boston Marathon Massacre?
@Yorumi Hyrule Warriors was essentially a new installment of Dynasty Warriors, but with characters from The Legend of Zelda. It outsold every previous Dynasty Warriors game, but I don't believe it's because the gameplay formula of Dynasty Warriors suddenly seemed appealing because of Link and Zelda. I think it's because people have always wanted to branch out and play these other characters in Zelda. I know people who love Midna and Ghirahim, and would've liked them in Smash. But suddenly you have Hyrule Warriors, with allows you to play and battle with all of these characters you've come to know and love. I don't think the fact that it is essentially a Dynasty Warriors game changes that. If a Dynasty Warriors game was going to be exclusively released for Wii U, I don't think anyone would've cared as much.
The same is true about Pokkén. I don't think the majority of people care that it is essentially Tekken. People have just wanted a dedicated fighting game with Pokémon for a long time. It could've played like Tekken, Street Fighter, or Smash Bros. and not have changed anything. So it's less about Tekken and more about Pokémon. That's why people are getting excited.
@Peek-a-boo, I feel that Nintendo is very protective of the Metroid series and would rather handle it internally. I feel they're trying to avoid a situation like Star Fox or F-Zero, where the franchises were handed off to various outside developers. If I recall some of the higher-ups at Nintendo, such as Miyamoto, didn't like the directions taken with it.
Federation Force is in a different situation because it is being produced by Tanabe, the leading producer of all previous Metroid Prime titles. He was looking to produce a multiplayer-focused game similar to Metroid Prime Hunters, but with an emphasis on co-operation instead. There was even a point in development where you did play as Samus, but given the emphasis on multiplayer it was to be the focus of the main campaign, not just a multiplayer mode like Blast Ball. Tanabe didn't think it would make sense to have four Samuses on screen and instead looked to focusing on the Galactic Federation and their endeavors throughout the galaxies. While it is not a traditional choice, Federation Force was developed as a Metroid game first and a multiplayer shooter second. Personally, this is not the game I wanted, and I do have a slither of hope that this Spanish studio will produce a new Metroid title for Wii U, but I think Federation Force will be a fine game in itself and should play with some interesting themes. I'm actually looking forward to it.
I hope I'm not offending anyone else's opinions, but I honestly don't think this creature has anything to do with Zygarde. The similarities end at them both being green and serpentine. It's important to know that Zygarde is considered a Legendary Pokemon, which never evolve, so I seriously doubt that this thing is a pre-evolved form. Nor would I say that it's a form change of any sort. I think it looks too different from Zygarde for it to make sense.
I believe this is a completely new Pokemon. It is very cute and small, but also quite primitive looking. I'm inclined to believe it's very ancient. I think it's to fill a role similar to Legendary Pokemon like Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Manaphy, and Victini.
