Re: Poll: What Are Your Favourite Super NES Games?

stinkyx

Super Castlevania IV was one of the first games my parents got me and I buried in it the far back of my closet, I was so scared of it. Had nightmares about it periodically until I dug it out and beat it years later. Conquered my fear AND I fell in love with its whippity goodness. Amazing game!

@invictus4000 My thoughts exactly! Except $40 is still a little steep for a "sale"...I forgot that this game launched at a whopping $50! I think $30 is the sweet spot for this game...I know it'll be amazing and well worth it based on their pedigree...I'm just not a big fan of the chibi style, especially when it's done with 3D models!

Re: Poll: Which is the Best Pokémon Game?

I wonder what Ronda Rousey would pick...

I haven't played them all, but I think XY is the best overall, in terms of refinement...it's the Pokemon game I'd always wanted ever since Pokemon Stadium gave everyone the first taste of fully 3D Pokemon combat (only took 13 years!).

My personal favorite is actually Fukemon, heh heh heh...

Re: September's Club Nintendo Reward Details Are Confirmed

This is why I stopped registering my games and doing the surveys - _ -

I don't expect them to offer very good rewards, but it would be nice if they didn't offer the same ones year after year.

I've also been using the registration as a direct forum to beg for SNES and GBA games on eShop, but that's obviously gone nowhere...

Re: Super Mario Bros. Movie UK Blu-Ray Release to Offer Brand New Documentary

@stanleecroup I wouldn't call this movie so bad it's good...I would call it utter trash. Just look at what Luigi, Bowser, and the Goombas look like...disgusting. This film has no resemblance to the games whatsoever, visually or in tone and thematic content. It's like a sick, sick fan-fiction. shudder

As for the behind the scenes content, I wonder if it has Bob Hoskins saying, "The worst thing I ever did? Super Mario Brothers. It was a f******nightmare. The whole experience was a nightmare. It had a husband-and-wife team directing, whose arrogance had been mistaken for talent. After so many weeks their own agent told them to get off the set! F****** nightmare. F****** idiots."

Re: Previously Teased Alone In The Dark: Illumination is a PC Survival Horror FPS

stinkyx

@Kaze_Memaryu Alone in the Dark was originally about Lovecraftian horror, which means the horrific unraveling discovery of an unknown evil (usually cosmic...thanks Wikipedia!). Like...oh crap, there's been a giant cavern full of ancient, not-of-this-world creatures under my house, and they're going to kill me. In games, it's actually been all over the place...for instance, in the original games, you did hilarious nonsense like fight pirates and dress up like Santa Claus. This time around, I just hope they have a story to tell or an interesting take on the genre, not just another me-too sequel.

I for one am happy to hear that it's a first person SHOOTER and not a bandwagon-jumping Amnesia / Outlast / unarmed-hidey-type horror game that there have been a lot of recently (namely on the PC indie scene). Personally, I can't go wrong with a non-zombie horror FPS...Call of Ctuhulu: Dark Corners of the Earth, Doom 3, Clive Barker's Undying and Jericho...lots of fun.

Re: Keiji Inafune Juiced Up Azure Striker Gunvolt

In a time when there are an unbelievable number of trash games, it's always good to get serious, constructive feedback like IntiCreates presumably got from Inafune.

Then again... I know early footage isn't all-telling, but compared to this game...Inafune's Might No. 9 looks pretty boring to me, haha.

Re: Talking Point: New Ideas, Not New IPs, Are The Key for Nintendo

stinkyx

Captain Toad is a great example of the point this article is making. They reinvented Toad into a wreckless baddonkey who simply does not give a love, goes around tresspassing, looting, and killing everyone he comes across.

I haven't played Super Mario 3D World yet...based on that game, what kind of difficulty should one expect for Captain Toad? I prefer difficult / challenging games.
Please watch the profanity — TBD

@wolfhound91W
I loved 999 too! But...the VLR bug is basically not fixed:

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/08/virtues_last_reward_glitch_resolved_in_eshop_version_maybe

If you end up playing this game, I recommend you NEVER save in ANY of the Puzzle Rooms. There are a couple rooms where it's well known that the bug will be induced, but it's also been reported that there is a slight chance the bug can be caused by saving in ANY puzzle room (as I found out). I own the retail version and got the bug in the second chapter of the game, because I saved in the puzzle room.

Ever since my game got screwed up, I haven't touched it. Having my game progress completely undone is something I refuse to deal with.
