Castlevania: Lords of Shadow — Mirror of Fate is one of the most intriguing third-party titles confirmed for 3DS, blending 2D and 3D perspectives and facing the challenge of living up to the previous trilogies on GBA and DS. We didn't think there'd be long to wait, with footage shown in the Nintendo 3DS E3 showcase promising a launch in Fall 2012; unfortunately that no longer appears to be the case.
Ahead of Gamescom in Germany, a press release from Konami outlined what the publisher would be showing off, including this little snipped about the 3DS title.
Konami’s resurrection of the Castlevania series continues, as the breath-taking Castlevania: Lords of Shadows series heads to Nintendo 3DS in 2013 with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate. Developed by Mercury Steam and acting as a prequel to the forthcoming Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, the Nintendo 3DS game follows Trevor and Simon Belmont as they enter the shadow-laden castle of series villain, Dracula.
A change from Fall 2012 to an unspecified time in 2013 is perhaps disappointing, especially as the title's development is far enough along to have a playable build at the Eurogamer Expo. Maybe Konami just wants to avoid the crowded release period later this year, which is perhaps more likely.

I guess they just don't want to release too many games in WiiU's launch window. No big deal, as long as the game is polished when it finally hits the shelves.
I dunno why, but i read "Mercury Steam" as "Freddie Mercury Steam", maybe i listen to Queen alot ._.
Great. Another game pushed to 2013.
Wow what a stupid reason they should go bankrupt now imo stupid konami....
delaying games that already are finished? lol idiots>.>
Does or does that not confirm the world ending on the 2112th, i can't decide. Surely people in the industry have that information now way before us.
Sorry for being mad....rlly pished some games i want keep get pushed back aka castlevania/metal gear rising.....etc
Noooooo! 2012 is not going to be a memorable year for gaming. Not like this game was going to have an effect on that, but I swear this year is the year of the sequels for the most part.
Just like Luigi's Mansion, I am disappointed by this news of another delay. However on the bright side, I wont have to spend as much this holiday on 3DS games, and can focus more on the Wii U.
@MrWalkieTalkie I believe setting the stage for the Wii U may very well be Nintendo's primary objective this holiday season.
Ugh.... What a shame. I kinda get why they did it but its still not cool.
dang, i was looking forward to getting it this year, oh well i still get it when it comes out next year
Ouch. They're really banking on Paper Mario and Layton to carry the 3DS this holiday season (NSMB2 is out way too early to make a huge dent at Christmas), which isn't the greatest idea, I don't think. Both are niche games that don't enjoy massive sales. Castlevania could have netted them a lot of hardcore gamers. Kind of a shame.
That is disappointing, but now I have one less game to get which means more money for the Neo Geo X!
Well the good news keeps on coming. If all of the big games are delayed to 2013 to avoid the "crowded" fall lineup, eventually it will create the same situation but in a different year.
Maybe this is a sign that there is going to be more Wii U games at launch.
At least Paper Mario and Code of Princess are still coming out this year. Layton too.
sigh.......I was hoping to get this in the fall. A halloween release would have been great.
If Konami were to release the original Castlevania for the NES via eShop along with the Game Boy versions, that would be just enough to tie me down until then.
Well this is disappointing since this was my most anticipated 3DS game this year.
Well that sucks. I was hoping to get this this year along with Epic Mickey.
My guess,the Wii U's release.
Nice to know all theses games are being pushed back, for a nice revive for our wallets/purses.
Next up: Wii U pushed back to 2013 worldwide. I've seen enough Nintendo system delays to know it's a bad sign we don't have more info by now. I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe the 1,000,000 coin goal in NSMB 2 is to keep us busy until 2013, with all these big releases getting pushed back to make a thin holiday season.
I'll keep an eye on this for next year then, looks decent so far.
Well this sucks but it makes sense, nintendo wants to focus on selling the wii U and its titles, like some guys said above, let's hope they take the make to polish the game or maybe add some more cool features to it.
@FluttershyGuy I highly doubt that the Wii U will be pushed back to 2013 because Nintendo knows that if its one thing that has to be released this year, its the Wii U and it has to be released in time for the holidays because thats the time when most video games and video game consoles just go flying off the shelves!
Still looking forward to this, Its worth the wait.
