@HollowGrapeJ I agree with you there, and that’s the thing. Nintendo should be literally shoving the good stuff to the forefront. We don’t need all these iPhone games cluttering the screen!

@Deathwalka I suggest you keep it. I almost sold it, but then I got The Messenger, Rogue Legacy and Dark Souls. Plus, shovel knight gets a physical release in April so at least there’s that to look forward to.

I was astonished at how dull Mario Odyssey was, did you play it?

@Indielink I would say more like 2%-4%. I don't have the patience for mediocre games, anymore. Plus, being realistic, 260 is way too many games for one person to play. Of the 260, maybe 10 will appeal to any one person.

@Rayquaza2510 That's funny, because I tried all those games that you mentioned, including Stardew Valley, Crashlands and Undertale and found them to be incredibly boring and underwhelming. Not trying to dog your favorite thing, just sharing what I thought about them.

People have no tolerance for simple disagreement, yet, the only way to truly learn anything about yourself is to have discussions with people who think differently from you. I guess it's too much to ask for from a video game forum. Have you ever posted on Kotaku? Dear lord. That place is treacherous.

Wow, what a smart business decision. If they had released that feature from the beginning, nobody would be playing the game right now. It's amazing that a company can not only parse up sections of games and then sell them as DLC after release, but can also take out entire gameplay mechanics and then slowly dripfeed them through updates. Gaming really has changed!

This might sound weird, but it would be great if they could slow down with the releases on this console. I find myself swimming in cheesy looking flash games and things that would be better suited for iPhone. Where are all the really heavy hitting games? Weren't they supposed to port the Dark Souls trilogy to this thing? I know Nintendo always got slammed for having not enough games on the Wii U, but that was their own fault because they stopped supporting the system and just let it fizzle out. I'm all for more games, but more GOOD games would be great and LESS of these awful shovelware titles would be even better.

That being said, ARK is supposed to be a heavy hitter, but last I heard it was just a really buggy mess. Did they fix the bugs, or pull a Bethesda and port over a buggy game like they did with Skyrim?

@rjejr People think if you don't like one aspect of something, you must dislike the entire thing. These little websites breed these petty people that almost feel cult-like in their group-think. You speak against the "popular opinion," and you're labeled as a troll or something. People just can't stand having to deal with a little cognitive dissonance from someone disagreeing with their "favorite thing."

@Crono1973 Oh I'm with you on that one. It's alarming that they didn't put a few obvious titles, like Castlevania: SOTN or Soul Edge or even Mega Man X4. Plus, from what I'm seeing that UI is ugly. If the modding and emulation scene blooms like it did on the Nintendo minis, I'll definitely get one, but if it doesn't? Out of the box it's very meh. Even the NES mini, which had a fairly lackluster selection still had some of their heaviest hitters.

@Almighty-Koz Sony’s success largely comes from copying Nintendo over the years, so don’t you think there might be some games on there that, while different from Mario games, helped them stay extremely relevant?

@Crono1973 It’s an interesting take, but it’s possible that Sony knows that the system will be used for emulation, so they are taking the Bethesda strategy and letting the fans fix what they borked. Also, in regards to your mention about analogue sticks, were there any notable games that utilized them? When I was a kid I don’t recall ever needing them for the games I played.

Does anyone actually care about this stuff, outside of Sony or Nintendo? Are people still doing the "my team is winning!" nonsense?

Thank goodness I didn't back this. The little 8-bit throwback they made is really fun, but I hope they don't botch their main game. It would be nice to get a new Castlevania, heh.

Way too expensive for a crumby iPhone game. I played until I hit the paywall on my phone a couple years back, but I don’t have the patience to grind these sorts of things anymore.

Is there really that much to say about this topic? I was alive during the sega/Nintendo stuff and I would hardly say that my generation was defined by it. Sounds like a bit of a stretch.

@FarkyValentine motion blur is one of those “mileage may vary,” things. Some people love it, others don’t, and most don’t even notice it.

This company should handle the port of Dark Souls 3, when it comes time for that.

@Spectra I hear you. I almost backed Might No.9 and then something in my gut told me not to. Glad I listened! Kickstarter just doesn’t feel right to me, ever. I don’t like gambling, and KS always feels like such a big gamble.

For me:

1. Is it fun?

2. Is the frame rate/performance stable?

3. Is it aesthetically pleasing?

4. Is there bad voice acting/writing?

Generally speaking, that’s all I look for. Funny because the Crashlands game doesn’t hit any of those checkboxes for me. I found it to be another vapid piece of iPhone shovelware.

@LegendofCreed It’s a marketing tactic to keep your attention on them. You never outright say “no.” That will make people forget you existed. Lol

I’ll hold out for Wind Waker, that’s a much more fun game.

I'll hold out for R-Type 3 or R-Type Leo. The first two didn't age too well, sadly, but I'm glad the people that enjoy the original arcade games can get them on the Switch now.
