Re: Picross S3 Brings Colour Puzzles To Switch This Week, But There's Still No Touchscreen Support

If you want to try picross with touchscreen controls, Pic-a-Pix Deluxe has a free demo. Although we included this feature from day 1, what we've learned is that players like to be able to touch the screen for fast navigation around a large grid, but it's not all that useful for painting pixels once you get into bigger puzzles (not that Picross S goes very large, but there is DLC in our game that goes up to 40x30). We've not actually heard of anyone playing with a stylus on Switch.

@crackafreeze It is a new demo for Pic-a-Pix Deluxe, to replace the Christmas-themed one that was released last year. It has 12 new puzzles, colour blind mode, and a few fixes. There is a patch to the main game that also adds these features, rolling out any day now!

@Nintendian You might be under-estimating the work required in creating this kind of puzzle ever-so-slightly It's vitally important that a Picross puzzle is solvable using logic alone. I've seen some games where you get to a point and have to guess, and it's dreadful!. If you just feed in a random image, it may or may not be uniquely solvable - but more often than not, it won't be. So then it needs tweaking to make sure the logic is sound; but you still have to make sure it looks like the image you want. You can try this yourself in games with a generator, like PixlCross. While making Pic-a-Pix Color we developed our own algorithms for generating/solving but still decided to purchase content from a company who have a team of experienced puzzle artists, because it's all about the joy you get when those beautiful pictures are revealed

@Eisenbolan Thanks for your support! As I'm currently in the USA, I picked up a copy of NYT from a retro store yesterday so I can check it out We have a meeting next month to discuss a new range of licensed puzzle content too!

Re: Review: Epic Word Search Collection 2 (3DS eShop)

@UsualNoise Thanks for this. I wonder if we can find a workaround. Triggering the scroll when dragging is no problem, but the game is doing some clever stuff for memory management that stops it being possible right now. Only slightly more of the wordsearch than you can see on screen is in memory at once. If it scrolled as you dragged, there would have to be a limit to how far you could drag, otherwise you could end up with a loop that began on a letter it no longer knows about - which means kaboom! Having it stop dragging suddenly might feel odd. Consider it on the list, and we'll try some things

@Eisenbolan Thanks for the feedback, and I'm really glad you enjoyed Epic Word Search. There's definitely another pack of those to come, but we still have a few new games to come before putting a "2" on the end of anything

@RCMADIAX Absolutely right. We may have been able to go down the licensing path, but I suspect this would have delayed the game by months, if not years, and ultimately would have allowed it to support only a small handful of amiibo. Giving a little extra to anyone who owned any amiibo was the real turn on for us in making this game

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th January (Europe)

You are right to expect Word Puzzles by POWGI to be identical on both platforms. It's so identical, it comes with a cross-buy deal, which wasn't included in this announcement. Buy it on Wii U and get the 3DS version (on a linked NNID) for free! Or vice versa!

@BulbasaurusRex Each completed multiplayer game counts towards unlocking the next mini-game. It takes 1-3 completed games for each new mini-game. That's about 10 minutes of gameplay on average to unlock each new game. I hope you enjoy the demo with your sister

Re: Minecraft Wii U Edition Classification Has Been Removed By PEGI

A reversed date is the most likely explanation. The "release date" for PEGI purposes is basically an embargo date, before which they won't publish details of your rating - a delayed release has no bearing on the rating. The ratings web form asks you to type it in European DD.MM.YYYY format, which could be easily done wrong by an American team. 11th December is a Friday, and therefore a suitable release date for a retail game.
