Re: This Newly Discovered POW Block Bug Freezes Paper Mario: The Origami King

bkbooth

The bugs for this game seem to be getting a lot of press, and maybe rightly so being a first-party Nintendo title. But I've not seen any of the bugs while I've been playing. Granted they shouldn't have been there in release, but it's not likely to affect your enjoyment of the game, especially considering they just patched out most of them.

Re: Hardware Review: Genki Covert Dock - The Perfect Travel Companion For Your Nintendo Switch

@sanderev I completely get you having concern over this, and your advice is generally good. I would advise most of my friends and family to stick to official accessories. However in this particular case you're overstating things. I backed this on KS and it's safe (or at least as safe as an official accessory), this article (https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/08/heres-why-nintendo-switch-consoles-keep-frying/) outlines the Switch 3rd-party dock bricking problem, the reddit post which it links to was written by the engineer of this product. They knew the problem before making this product. A firmware update won't cause this to brick your Switch unless it was also going to cause the official dock/adapter to brick your Switch.

Re: Feature: Game Of The Decade Staff Picks - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I finally picked this game up on Switch and started playing it last week but I'm still well and truly at the point it hasn't clicked yet. I was actually considering trading it in, but this article has me thinking I should give it another go, maybe even 2 more goes, at the very least I won't trade it in until I've given it a proper chance.

Re: This Tiny Nintendo Switch Dock Has Just Obliterated Its Kickstarter Goal

Just want to chime in (few others have already mentioned it) to say that Andrew Geng is the engineer behind this product and he’s also the same guy who wrote the incredibly detailed reddit post about 3rd party docks bricking Switches that was a source for a bunch of tech articles in the last week. They’re well aware of the potential problems and they’re well aware that plenty of their target market are skeptical. I’m skeptical of 3rd party accessories but I trust these guys. Do your own research but don’t write this off as “just another 3rd party dock”. This looks awesome to me.

Re: Switch Owners Choose To Play EA Games On Other Platforms, Says Company CEO

bkbooth

I should be an easy sell for EA (with FIFA anyway). I don't own any other next-gen consoles, I've bought FIFA 18 and 19, played a lot of both, but there's simply no compelling reason I should buy FIFA 20 on Switch so I won't. Sadly their analysts will take that as a lack of interest in their products, rather than an indication that their products aren't good enough.

Re: Soapbox: I Don't 'Get' Smash Bros. And I Just Don't Know Why

I didn't get it either, I wasn't interested at all in all the pre-release Smash Ultimate promo material. The only Smash I'd played previously was on N64 at a friends place. A few weeks ago curiosity got the better of me so I picked up Smash Ultimate and I've found myself really enjoying adventure mode, but I've just finished it and don't think I can be bothered with any other modes now. My wife isn't interested and my kids are a little too young yet.

Re: EA Will Add Usain Bolt To FIFA 19 If He Can Secure A Professional Contract

bkbooth

What a clash of worlds seeing the jersey of a sports team I support as the cover image of a news article on a Nintendo site.

Bolt is great media exposure for the Mariners who are the smallest team/region in the A-League and sadly have been struggling for a few seasons now. Unfortunately from what I’ve seen he’s simply not good enough to earn a professional contract, even at A-League level. Fitness is one thing, but his touch is quite poor and so is his reading of the game which professionals learn over years of playing. That said, the first goal he scored was a fine finish, if he can prove himself worthy of a contract, well done to him, I just don’t see it.

I don’t think pace would make up for the rest of his stats if EA add him to FIFA, but I can see people adding him to their team for the novelty factor.

Re: Izneo Will Bring "The Netflix Of Comics" To Nintendo Switch Next Month

bkbooth

@Realnoize I actually like the "guided view" in ComiXology, I turn on the setting to show full page on page exit though, for some comics the context of the panel layout is important.

I've got no interest in reading comics on my Switch or on a TV and personally no interest in a subscription comics service, but I'm sure it will work for some people. I have a big library of comics on ComiXology so if they released an app on Switch I'd probably get it, but happy enough to leave reading on my tablet and just games on the Switch. Having a tablet and a Switch is a luxury though so I can understand why some people would want media apps like this.
