Continuing the never-ending avalanche of Switch news coming from Gamescom 2018, Microids has released a teaser trailer for an upcoming comic book adaptation on the console.
The game in question is Blacksad: Under the Skin, a new title based on the film noir comic series 'Blacksad'. Players will get the chance to discover the 1950s New York ambience presented in the original material, joining detective John Blacksad in conducting an all-new investigation.
Aside from the trailer above, details surrounding the game are still rather few and far between. We do have an official synopsis to share with you, however, which details Blacksad's dark corruption scandal:
The early 50s: Joe Dunn, owner of a boxing club, is found dead. Meanwhile, rising star Robert Yale, due to take to the ring for the most important fight of his career, has mysteriously disappeared. Sonia Dunn, Joe’s daughter, takes over the club and must deal with its financial woes. She hires private detective John Blacksad to investigate Yale’s disappearance and to find the missing man. This sinister case will take our investigator to the darkest, most dismal depths of New York.
At present, the game is scheduled to release at some point in 2019. We expect to hear more details on this one in the coming months.
Until then, why not share your early impressions from the game's first trailer in the comments below. Do you like the aesthetic? Are you intrigued by the plot?

Really looking forward to this!
Blacksad is astounding. If you haven't read it and see this comment, go do it right now.
I can't imagine it working as a game, but I would be happy to be wrong.
This looks interesting. I've never heard of this series, but it seems like it may be worth checking out.
Noice...
@NewAdvent I heard from my uncle that the next Animal Crossing is going to be ultra dark with you taking on a made man working his way up the ranks of the "family"
Whole-heartedly agree that everyone interested should read the comics. I’ve imported all of them from France, but there are English and Spanish versions too. It’s some of the most beautiful water colors I’ve seen.
So while I wait for Blacksad 6, guess I’ll buy this game.
@FragRed @NewAdvent Animal's Crossing by the Coen Brothers!
From quickly glancing at the video, it looks like an overdue reboot of Animal Farm in a modern era?
It looks great... When it's not moving. Animation is really stiff, something I feared considering the dev...
Loved the comics, so I'm definitely watching this one.
Microids is on a roll!
Loved these guys since i played Syberia around 2002. While some games have brutally sucked, the good ones tend to be VERY good.
Alright! The tone is definitely set.
That's some dodgey looking motion capture and self-shadows, but this is a story trailer that needed to be ready for Gamescom, so I won't hold any of that against them.
I'm just happy this game exists, I'm a big fan of the comics.
@NewAdvent Animal Crossing: The Coppola Restoration
Love Blacksad comic, hoping this adaptation is good.
I mean, good thing they are saving it for 2019, they should polish it to their best.
Be good.
... and in 2020, microids will make something based on Canardo ? Someone has to get them out this 80’ franco -belge bandes dessinées shelve....
Not sure about the game, but the comics look great, definitely going to check those out!
Makes me wanna finish LA noire , got physical copy for 30$ 3 months ago
This makes me think in the Disney's TaleSpin but more darker.
