The man behind the muscle-bound Gears of War series has stated that he'll be keeping a close eye on the Wii U.
Cliff Bleszinski - Design Director at Epic Games - was responding to open questions on Reddit and had this to say about Nintendo's new console:
Being raised on All Things Nintendo I will always I love all things Nintendo. I'll be watching the Wii U closely. I think Nintendo may have initially lost a little of their core with the Wii for a bit, honestly, and they seem to have realized this. I believe they also recognize that we live in a "multi-screen" culture hence the controller design. I played ZombiU at PAX and it was promising (even though the controls could use a little loving!) so we'll have to wait and see.
It's not the first time Cliff has expressed his love for Nintendo and it certainly won't be the last. It's also not the first time he's made public his positive opinion on the Wii U.
But will he finally put his money where his mouth is and make a game for a Nintendo platform this generation?

CliffyB and WiiU... not just a happy coincidence?
Jazz Jackrabbit 3 please.
I reckon we can see SOMETHING from him (obviously not Gears of War, however). Get us some Solar Winds or Jill of the Jungle reboots happening
Jazz Jackrabbit 3! I mean it would be perfect. Bring Jazz into HD and it would be perfect for the Wii/Wii U Audience.
jazz jackrabbit lol
yeaaah i loved that game back in the days, didnt even knew it was from him.
at least a digital eshop title!
A revitalisation of the Jazz Jackrabbit series for the 3DS/Wii U and even a remake (and/or sequel) to Jill of the Jungle for the 3DS eShop would be amazing. I wouldn't care if they were straight ports of the original DOS games.
Wii will be watching U closely as well Mr Belszinski
I sure hope he does something. I'm a big Nintendo fan, but I like Gears of War too.
It's pretty ridiculous that Nintendo has to prove themselves to any 3rd party, after all the success Nintendo has brought to 3rd parties since the days of the NES (your Konamis, Capcoms, and Squares are where they are today thanks in large part to Big N). Plus the fact that, in comparison, Sony and (especially) Microsoft are relative newcomers. Should be the other way around, that 3rd parties must prove something to Nintendo before they can make games for their systems. I don't like this notion that 3rd parties are taking a wait and see attitude.
sad to say people sho still. But i got my hands on a wii u from someone who stole
@FluttershyGuy and their always whining too.
I once read a developer say that "Nintendo's games are too good" and that was why they can't sell on their systems.
If you look at the top selling games of ALL TIME you will see that Nintendo holds almost ALL spots, Nintendo has nothing to prove to anybody.
@FluttershyGuy: I don't know how old you are, but Nintendo had some tight control on software devs/pubs in the late 80's, & early 90's. That alongside more recent years' (moderate amount of) news, from devs/pubs complaining of Nintendo being difficult to work w/, gives Nintendo that reaction from a lot of software co.s, I believe.
Edit: Also, possibly 1 more dev for the WU is just another good point for the WU.
You know, despite making himself look ridiculous and offensive for the sake of offensive, I like Cliff Blezenski. When he publicly speaks and writes he is surprisingly well-composed and presents some interesting ideas. As for this topic; I am interested to see if Epic does anything with the Wii U. With Unreal Engine 4.0 most likely not resource-friendly enough to run on the Wii U, it will be interesting to see Epic's last effort on Unreal Engine 3.0.
@NintendoLand If you think about it though, behind all that bs is a little truth. Nintendo obviously should stay with their usual awesome games but, unless you're already a big named developer, it's pretty tough for your game to get enough attention when a possible Mario or Zelda or whatever is right around the corner.
Still completely uninterested in anything Epic Games has developed.
Gears of Wars is great, but I can't see it being on a Nintendo system.
@hydeks Well good for you because Gears of War is an Xbox exclusive. I can easily see him working on something for WiiU eventually.
I would love to see the Gears universe eventually make its way to Wii U. It's the only reason I own a 360 but I probably won't by an Xbox One for a number of reasons. I'll miss Gears, though; it's my favorite series.
