@Agramonte That was going to be my exact response, what justifies this being priced $10 higher and if you spring for the physical it's essentially double the price the game cost at its original release
That's actually not true.PS4 achieved that in 270 days vs the Switch in 284 days. Also remember although during the holiday release PS4 did not release worldwide.
With that said go Switch wishing it unlimited success, i love it, including all my systems! Although due to still excellent software such as DKC Tropical Freeze, W101, Twilight Princess HD, WW HD, Captain Toad I can't put my Wii U out to pasture yet.. Also Nintendo can we get physical Bayo 1 copies for all territories sheesh..
@AlexSora89
I wouldn't jump to the conclusions though to say MH isn't going to be releasing on the Switch Capcom knows it makes money for it, probably will be developing portable versions i.e. XX etc. There is mention Capcom wants to open up the series to a bigger audience so I chalk that up to just business. If it feels like a backstab than you're taking it way more personal than it should be in the end they're just games, besides it's early announcements will come, don't always look towards E3 with so many trade shows and specifically TGS geared towards Japanese games sometimes you just have sit back and wait
@JaxonH Just a note, be careful on stating VCO is unlimited use because it does state limit 1 per customer and they've recently updated their terms again which states that does fall into the violation category. I have known people to get their BB accounts banned and they have been active with their hammer, a banned acct means current in place orders not shipped get cancelled, no more online ordering, in-store only, basically renders GCU/elite useless etc..
Well i suppose you have to start with optimisim right?? I will say this is a different market and the Wii was at the right place right time for the blue ocean strategy, tech has evolved since then with the introduction of mobile etc etc. For a high number such as that you need a combination of price point and hardcore gamers from different tastes in addition to hot buzz, marketing and appeal and casual friendliness. I'll keep expectations in check as Ninty may need to approach the $200 baseline along with a built up library of titles to really take off in the stratosphere of going above 40-50 million. PS4 is at that prime stage where a mix of diverse software, price, marketing is propelling them through the roof. When that mix is in place word of mouth also becomes a driving engine. They stand at over 53 million units sold in 3yrs 2months ahead of PS2 numbers hardware and software wise with exclusives releasing now into the next couple of months as currently known. That's the mix of wave riding you need. My hope is expectations is for Nintendo to do well and for the success of Switch to be cemented but not judged against if they can reach a tall order of 100mil. 40-50mil should be more than considered a successful system especially with multiple players in the gaming market.
@NEStalgia By the way from my research on charging etc, the USB c to a cable comes in the Pro Controller box according to the description info. What i did recently was get myself a good rated and quality USB c to a as well as having an extra USB c to c available from my Google Pixel phone. I bought a Qualcomm 3.0 wall charger that has a quick charge USB c connection as well as two high speed USB a (standard USB) ports on it. By the way sometimes i charge my phone with the a point instead of c and its almost equally as quick. So with that said that allows me a portable method to deal with charging the switch without removing the hardwired AC adaptor....And yes by the way i checked voltage and watts and I'll be getting adaquate charge and better quality than the supposed start kits will offer. One last thing i covered down on is a quality car adaptor charger again with a USB c quick charge port and Qualcomm USB a ports. My experience with the Vita and 3DS although the switch is newer tech and a bit more power draw, covers the needs. (Long post i know...my bad)
@NEStalgia Yea i agree with you. It's frustrating and stressful for a lot of folks to have to watch like a hawk and even then, some don't have the ability to stalk if they're at work or otherwise. You and wolf1313 seem like good peeps, my tip for sharing is follow Nintendo Wire on Twitter. They actively tweet on products (Amiibo, special editions, NES Classic, accessories) going live with links included, (even before available) it's how i got in. Some may be a little annoyed at that info but i wish all genuine gamers and fans best wishes in acquiring the things they desire and I'm sure that if you choose to use it will help you do so at least from a Nintendo products standpoint. 😀
@WOLF1313 The Switch Pro Controller went up on US Amazon a short while ago and is currently out of stock, i got in on an order myself. I would keep an eye out for other retailers though and Amazon's restock
Here's my take...Nintendo could tell me the sky is purple, it doesn't mean I believe them. The switch is a handheld that has the benefit of being output and upscaled to the TV and the fact it's a platform that hosts Nintendo software I'm perfectly fine with that. I can understand why they wouldn't address it as such for several reasons:
1. The 3DS is still running strong, in their eyes they'd rather not suffocate its sales and bury it by calling it a successor.
2. Calling it a home console allows you to charge "console" prices for the software.
3. They want to bury all instances of the Wii U as possible.
4. Console's are more appealing to the west.
5. Defining it as a console, you can charge out the gate "console prices" for the hardware.
But come on at the end of the day this is a machine that has all of its guts in the tablet, it can live its life without ever being plugged into the TV if you so wish, that there defines its role. Besides if it acted more as a tablet there would be CPU/GPU in the dock where it would function as a higher powered and also key point..stationary console. Now maybe they opt to do that in the future but then it would be a true hybrid in its nature.
I wouldn't mind Nintendo marketing it to other way around handheld first without stationary benefits and distance themselves even further from the other companies and stacking up against condole horsepower etc and also to alert the handheld seekers out there this will be the latest piece of tech of tech for them...But as listed above I can acknowledge some potential reasons why they may not want to go that route.
At the end of the day though I'll be supporting this and looking forward to the innovative titles and fresh software because I really do enjoy Nintendo and the games + experiences that come along with it. For me it's a perfect additional console to house for my entertainment needs.
@TheLZdragon The console market in itself is much smaller in Japan. The Pro is more of a luxury item vs a must have iteration. For the folks who want to buy into the console's ecosystem they obviously go for the cheaper Slim model logically speaking
@PtM Head to Polygon and read the article man, what's wrong with being educated about a situation before commenting on it. That programmer you say of hearsay was actually on board during the FF6 to FF7 transition
For all you keyboard warriors jumping in defense on either side of the fence, instead of being quick to point a finger or call out clickbait or decipher what you assess the situation to be without reading or research regardless of how Damien approached the article, I recommend going to Polygon and actually giving the article a read it's quite long and detailed. Also Polygon worked on this piece for 2 years. What a read through will also do is disconnect yourself from being defensive towards Nintendo or aggressive towards Square and appreciate a good piece of gaming history recorded in a fairly interesting article.
@JaxonH Kudos to your response. I never understood the need for people to draw the line between companies. It's not an either or proposition. I understand financial situations may limit what one can own but it doesn't have to skew your perspective. I like you own a PS4 Pro, XBox1 S as well but I wouldn't dream of saying just because I have those and the support they receive I can move on from Nintendo. No, quite the opposite as a gamer I want the best of all worlds (especially Ninty), there are amazing pieces of software on each side of the fence I want to experience not only to mention the strength of the industry needs all the players to be fairly successful from a growth and creative standpoint.
It's time Nintendo, feed us. Educate us, show us the consumer, fans and audience that you've learned from previous shortfalls and are trending in the right direction of returning to a position of respect, growth but more importantly flat out fun. The entire industry wins when the big N is flourishing and humming along. I want to see improvements and just have that feeling again things are on the rise....features, marketing, price, inventory availability, clear communication, aggressive development/clear grasp of HD development and unique and creative software. We believe its your time to shine Nintendo now go out there and show the world they should pay attention and take you seriously too.
@DanteSolablood I assume they meant this generation compared to the DS which through around massive weight, but I agree the 3DS is holding its own. Even as someone who owns a PS4 Pro XBox1 S, Vita in addition to current Nintendo portfolio I hope the Switch has that 3DS like appeal and catches fire quickly. I want it to enjoy the success of the 3DS so the software can follow and we can have a golden age of software output in HD. Besides Nintendo needs to rule this middle ground where we can get those unique and creative AA titles from them and developers where they don't have to put it all on the line like a triple AAA budget would require.
@cfgk24 @Wexter Why do you feel Eurogamer needs to stir the pot? If anything they've been fairly credible. In my opinion I think it's folks just don't tend to want to absorb or accept anything that doesn't fit what they would like to see happen whether it's the Mass Effect situation, this BOTW, or any other related to Nintendo being left out. Not saying it's factual one way or another until Nintendo announces the official info, but to completely dismiss it from folks with a litle bit more insight than us is illogical
I've never understood why folks can't process positive praise as simply just that... positive praise. I always see fanboys specifically in this instance right here try to downplay other systems (yes I know it goes both ways). Is that because they only own one system?? Does that feeling seem to validate your purchase? As a gamer I enjoy all systems to an extent. I grew up with my first experience on NES but I also respect the quirks and games I've played on Playstation families and to an extent Xbox as well from a home console perspective not withstanding handhelds. Hell I would hate to have missed out on the "Trails of" series which is now one of my favorites RPGs by not having a Vita and likewise I can say that about Earthbound, Panzer Dragoon, Bayonetta 2 etc.. Back on topic Druckmann has played his role in providing some fantastic entries to the gaming realm so I see no need to attempt to downplay his achievements especially when he is being positive as other execs/developers of different platforms have done before just tip yourhat and keep it moving, it's about games in general not a versus melee.
I think people need to detach themselves from a comparison mindset and look at what we're being presented independently. I look at what we're seeing as a resurgence of Nintendo understanding they've made some mistakes and are looking to right some wrongs. Portability + Docking? Hell yes! I'm not concerned about it being as powerful, I own a PS4, Xbox 1 , 3DS, Wii U and Vita and probably a Scorpio upon release as well, so in essence if you're a gamer disconnect the toxic fanboy mindset, i love each system for what they provide and damn sure looking forward to the Switch

@RiasGremory
I believe he's correct according to what the developer has last stated. Look no other than our very own Nintendo Life for the article:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/10/doom_eternal_has_been_delayed_and_the_switch_version_is_the_most_heavily_affected
Also an article on NintendoEverything today states Switch version later, apparently not much later but no announcements to make at this time.
