We've already had problems with redundancy on the VC. They released every variant of Street Fighter II. When I was a kid, I always thought there was only one Street Fighter.
Being too young for the golden age of arcades, I had no idea there was an arcade version of Tecmo Bowl. I do have the SNES version, however, so I'll pass.
Many of Nintendo's customers are kids, who have no interest in old games because they always want the latest games. Once a game's even a year old, many kids stop playing it and move on to the next. The VC is targeted toward adults, which is not Nintendo's target audience.
MASTER SYSTEM: Columns, Castle of Illusion GENESIS: Gargoyles, Tecmo Super Hockey GAME GEAR: Sonic Drift 2 SATURN: Sonic R, Virtua Fighter 2 ARCADE: Sonic Championship, Virtua Cop
@121: Good point. While I've only downloaded games I never had, the only nitpick anyone should have generally is the lack of vibration on N64 games. The Legend of Zelda has its intro redone without the typos, but that's all right with me. What bothers me is that they put DS ads in Wave Race 64. Couldn't they have simply blanked out the ads? If they ever port Ninja Turtles II, they can simply erase all the Pizza Hut ads.
@114: They're not being disrespectful. They're just pressured for a new VC game each week. Most of these games are quickies, so to speak. They're easy to get the rights for, so they can release these while they negotiate with the big boys for the major games, which can take months.
A floating minigolf course? Puts a new twist on the term "water hazard". While the holes are unique, they don't have that classic minigolf feel to them.
Gameboy and Gameboy Color games would be interesting. If they start that, I'm definitely buying a DSi. Especially if they start re-releasing Game Gear games.
@95: I agree. No one on my university campus plays or has an interest in video games. I don't really know anyone else who'd come over to play video games. The internet has ruined that experience.
I agree: the graphics are horrid! Fox has a big head! Samus looks like she should be on the box, not in the game. Yoshi looks awful also. Link and Pikachu are ok, but I agree, I wouldn't be able to tolerate such horrendous graphics.
@madgear: I agree with you on the unlockables being fun. That's one of my favorite features in many video games: unlockables. The idea of working your ### off just to unlock a new character or feature. I just unlocked Baby Daisy and Funky Kong in Mario Kart Wii a couple days ago. Still working on Baby Wigi, Bowser Jr., Mii B, and Dry Bowser.
Concerning Brawl, it took me a few months to unlock most of it, but a year later I'm still unlocking tracks. My most recently unlocked tracks are Mach Rider (Melee) for the F-Zero Brawl stage (defeat fifty enemies in Endless Brawl) and Multi-Man-Melee menu 2 for the Battlefield stage (win Hundred Man Brawl in under 4:00). I still don't have all the tracks! What am I missing? That's what I love about Brawl, so much to enjoy.
I agree that simpler games are more fun. They don't have the overwhelming and often confusing features that their successors do. This is why I'm glad many of these new games offer Gamecube controller support. It makes it simpler that way.
BTW: Brawl does have online mode, if you've forgotten.
Ultimately, I still won't be getting this as Melee works fine as a simpler SSB.
I see that many people find SSB64 mediocre. I've never had it, but from the review I just watched, it looks almost identical to Melee. I'll skip this. Still waiting til StarFox SNES comes out.

Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - September 2009
I'm picking up a points card today. I'm getting Super ESB and SBCG4AP ep. 3.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - September 2009
Should I get Earthworm Jim? I never saw the cartoon.
Re: Nintendo Download: Jedis, Drills and Bubbles (US)
YES! I'm picking this up when possible!
Re: Nintendo Download 25-26 August 2009 (Japan)
North America better get some serious updating if Japan gets a huge update like this.
Re: Japan Gets 20 More Namco Arcade Games
WHAT!!? How can Japan get twenty games in one update when North America has to suffer with one a week, with two straight weeks of nothing?
Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Game Boy)
I had the DX version. I never found it that appealing.
Re: What LucasArts games do you want to see on Virtual Console?
Maniac Mansion
Super ESB
Super ROTJ
If they can do any of their PC games, I'd be extatic. DOTT PLEASE!
Re: LucasArts Bringing Classic Games to Virtual Console
NES
Maniac Mansion
Pipe Dream
SNES
Super ESB
Super ROTJ
Re: LucasArts Bringing Classic Games to Virtual Console
AWESOME! I already have Super Star Wars, but I'd rush out and get a points card immediately if Super ESB and Super ROTJ come out! Can't wait!
Re: Nintendo Download: Kindred Spirits, Rock N' Roll, Star Wars and Different Art (US)
Super Star Wars WTF? Totally unexpected for me. That adds to my backup should my SNES break.

Re: What Capcom games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
Aladdin SNES, please. And TaleSpin!
Re: What Capcom games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
@95: Apparently, only the NES Little Mermaid was Capcom. The SNES one doesn't have a publisher on its box. I'll take it anyway.
Re: What Capcom games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
@76: Jungle Book is Virgin, not Capcom
Little Mermaid, please (I'm a sucker for Disney).

Re: Game & Watch Games to be Released on DSiWare
It's either this or I'm buying Game & Watch Gallery 4 used.
Re: What SEGA games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
Having seldom played arcade games, I can't relate to any opinions on arcade ports.
Re: What SEGA games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
How about a Game Gear Classics collection on the DS? I'd snatch up Columns and Sonic Drift 2 instantly.
Re: What SEGA games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
How about releasing Sonic Xtreme on WiiWare?
Re: What SEGA games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
While I'll definitely get Virtua Cop, I'll also take Area 51. Either one is fine with me.
Re: What SEGA games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
MASTER SYSTEM: Columns, Castle of Illusion
GENESIS: Gargoyles, Tecmo Super Hockey
GAME GEAR: Sonic Drift 2
SATURN: Sonic R, Virtua Fighter 2
ARCADE: Sonic Championship, Virtua Cop
Re: Nintendo Download: Cores, Bubbles, Chariots, Sports, Numbers and Cars (US)
@128: You mean that Nintendo's corrupt management may have killed any chances of getting any more major titles? What the crap?
Re: Nintendo Download: Cores, Bubbles, Chariots, Sports, Numbers and Cars (US)

Re: Nintendo Download: Cores, Bubbles, Chariots, Sports, Numbers and Cars (US)
How do you know anything about these WiiWare games when they haven't even been released before?
Anyway, I'd rather buy a compilation of games for the Wii (e.g. Mario Party) than waste space on my menu with all these silly little games.
Commodore coupons for dinner again? When are we going to get some real games?
Re: Family Mini Golf
A floating minigolf course? Puts a new twist on the term "water hazard". While the holes are unique, they don't have that classic minigolf feel to them.
Re: Fun! Fun! Minigolf
I don't like the idea of having a forced do-over if I don't get the ball near the hole. I'll wait til there's an actual Wii game featuring minigolf.
Re: Bit.Trip: Beat
Looks like a fun twist on Breakout
Re: Nintendo Download: Fantasies, Fishing, Warfare, Reversi and Sudoku (US)
@Awesome5: I'm definitely waiting for WiiMotion+. I hope to get WSR along with Donkey Kong NPC and WarioLand Shake It.
Re: Nintendo Download: Fantasies, Fishing, Warfare, Reversi and Sudoku (US)
The "First Person Soaker" sounds fun, lol. Unfortunately, I usually don't buy a WiiWare game unless I can get a VC game to go along with it.
Re: Nintendo Download: 30th June - 1st July 2009 (JAPAN)
If they add the VC to the DSi, I might actually consider buying one. It's all the gimmicks and the lack of the GBA port that are turning me off.
Game & Watch: 200 points
Gameboy: 500 points
Gameboy Color: 600 points
Game Gear: 800 points
Re: Nintendo Download: Drill Sergeants, Puzzles, Golf, Art Styles and Planets (US)
Sim Earth? Yawn.
Re: Pokémon Red and Blue
Ah the days of exploiting the glitches and when Pokemon was new. Missingno., a million master balls, and Glitch City. The remakes are nice also.
Re: Nintendo Download: 23-24 June 2009 (Japan)
Gameboy and Gameboy Color games would be interesting. If they start that, I'm definitely buying a DSi. Especially if they start re-releasing Game Gear games.
Re: Nintendo Download: Super Smash Bros., Cocoto, Asphalt and Sudoku (EU)
I've only kept Melee because it's notably different from Brawl. Unless SSB64 is notably different from Melee, I'll skip this one.

OK, well I just want a full comparison before I spend $10 on it.
