Re: Splatoon 3 Fresh New Update Now Live (Version 8.1.0), Here Are The Full Patch Notes

@AstroTheGamosian I agree that Splatoon 3 does a terrible job at low level play, the amount of times I've seen new players in my turf lobbies as an S rank level 80 players is way too much.
Even ranked mode apparently can be whacky at times, it's why they hide levels and ranks.

The main problem isn't splatting, it's that the game does not really have a space for low level players, even compared to Splatoon 1 and 2 which I've noticed are way less sweaty than 3.

I think it's a mixture of bad matchmaking and the game not really having anything to stand out for casuals to buy the game if they already have Splatoon 2 so the game is mostly filled with the core fan base.

Re: Soapbox: Has Nintendo Set A Precedent That 'Switch 2' Can't Hope To Match?

The_Flume

I don't care how many units they sell, just as long it's enough for them to keep making consoles in the future.

If the Switch 2 wants to meet or surpass the Switch in sales, I think all they need to do is nail the name, marketing, have some unobtrusive gimmick and be more powerful.

Many people would probably love a handheld with the power of the Steam Deck but without janky software.
The handheld space right now is really similar to home gaming, we have PC gaming/Handheld PCs and then we have the consoles/Switch.
The PCs have more power and can do more but the consoles are just plug and play and simple to set up. Depends on what you want.

Re: Nintendo President Says Longer Game Development Cycles Are "Unavoidable"

The_Flume

The best way to combat the longer development cycles is to stop focusing on hyper realistic, physics and graphically intensive games.
Games like Red Dead Redemption 2 is the worst for this, making snow physics that is so well made that they never clip with any model is kinda unnecessary.
I guess PlayStation fans do expect this though, they get angry if Sony dares to reuse one asset, or if physics for a random barrel of apples is too unrealistic.

Thankfully Nintendo has not fallen into this trap, they don't care if physics slightly clip with models, and they don't usually go for hyper realistic art styles and graphics.
They focus on gameplay which is the most important part and it decreases dev time instead of trying to make snow hyper realistic.
