Re: Reaction: Ubisoft Bets Big On Wii U

TheChosen

Ubisoft showed a brilliant line-up, and not just for Wii U. So good that Sony used a good chunk of their conference to promote Far Cry 3 and Assassins Greed 3 as well. And Watch Dogs looked amazing.

Rayman Legends was great, but it turned awesome right when the music-level started. Im pretty sure this is gonna be the top platformer of this year and the next Mario gonna has to be really innovative to top this.

Now lets hope we'll get some more ZombiU (God that name's awful) footage on Nintendo's conference!

Re: MDK2 Dev Will Never Develop for Nintendo Again

TheChosen

With not going into any of the Wiiware sucks talk (its bad, thats pretty much established) and if MDK2 or Baldurs Gate are any good (quality games), lets get on to other points:

1. From what I've heard, other platforms have their own sale-quotas which have to be reached until the developers start forking any cash. Could be that Wii's just the biggest of them all, but I like to point it out to some people who think such limitations dont exist in other platforms.
2. I looked up for hype, news or any other stuff related to MDK2 in NintendoLife, all I found was this and the review
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2011/04/mdk_2_shoots_for_1000_of_your_nintendo_points_on_9th_may
And with GoNintendo, which pretty much gathers every bit of news on the net that have some relations to Nintendo, there's 4 reviews (one from magazine, one from this site), Nintendo Channel video, announcement of its development and announcement of its release. Plus these newsbits that have popped up.

So yeah. If you're expecting to fill anykind of quotas or to get any sales at all, you might consider advertising, hyping and promoting the game bit more.

EDIT: And I forgot to mention that this is the first appearance of the series in a Nintendo platform. This is the second game of the said series. And its an old, obscure series that is more familiar to PC gamers.

Re: Men in Black: Alien Crisis Confirmed for Wii

TheChosen

Eh, I'll give it a benefit of a doubt. Could be good. But then again, Lightgun games are basically just "point and press trigger" and plenty of Wii's shovelware games follow the same easy lines whether its about shooting things, photographing or ballerina dancing..

Re: Resident Evil Revelations Producer Says Series Needs Action for Success

TheChosen

I dont care as long as the game is good. For older games, the so called "horror aspect" came from the fact that ammo was more limited and best choice of action was to run and save it for a better encounter (whatever could that be). If there's a zombie in a game, I want to shoot it.

Old Resident Evil games were good, but when 4 arrived the series went great. Much more fun to play when you dont have to think "Should I shoot that zombie?".

Re: Indie Developer Phil Fish Says Japanese Games 'Suck'

TheChosen

All the indy-developers are arrogant, egoistic jerks who cant get their games out in a time.

There, I can generalize them all just by on this one guy, kind of like how he probably found out that latest Final Fantasy isnt like the precious FF3 on his Super Nintendo.

Re: Feature: Nintendo’s Biggest Blunders

TheChosen

I wouldnt really call censorship being a big blunder. What did it really affect in the end? Few words, some graphical changes. Loss of sales? Nope. Sucked for Mortal Kombat (even though SNES version was more playable), but after that Mortal Kombat 2, 3 and so on had the violence, Nintendo and Rare stroke back with Killer Instinct, N64 was pretty much a heaven for fps games and so on and so on.

People back then probably didnt even realize that their games had some kind of censorship and even if they did, would small changes like "holy to pearl" really hamper the gameplay that much? It did for some games like Ultima VII, but there arent much of those games where gameplay actually suffered because of censorship (and Ultima VII had several other problems to begin with and no, Im not counting Wolfenstein 3D. Just because there's no blood or swastikas doesnt mean game is bad.).

Sega games werent that different either. They were just "edgy and cool", not hardcore.

And finally, before Playstation broke out, consoles were mostly considered as something kids would play, at least in America. It was the 80/early 90's with moral guardians and such and it was easier time for them to spread fear and paranoia.

Now, out of those blunders, I'd say only the CD-addon and Virtual Boy were the only real blunders. Sony would have gotten the control of Nintendo's IPs per the contract (or something like that), but the outcome took a huge bite out of Nintendo's market. And Virtual Boy was just so bad and rushed. Your mileage may vary with the Wii, but before that, it was the both Playstation consoles who got loads and loads of shovelware. Im not saying Wii isnt any better, but if someone's gonna start pointing and blaming, Wii's wasnt the first console to have shovelware.

And I love those cartridges. Like said, they do things CD's cant and just because you cant do cool CG, orchestrated music or spread game into 4 cd's doesnt mean you cant make memorable masterpieces.

Re: Nintendo Rejects The Binding of Isaac

TheChosen

Well, the game does have a lot of questionable religious content, from Mom trying to sacrifice his son to God to making deals with Satan. Then there's drug-use, occultism, the usual levels of violence, urinating, gambling, womb-level...in other words, plenty of reasons for ESRB to stamp up a high-rating and to get everyone over-sensitive go mad at it.

Also, get over it people. I dont care if Ninendo wants it or not.

EDIT: The creators attitude reminds me of the whole Super Meat Boy thing again.

Re: Feature: 3DS Games You'll Probably Never Play

TheChosen

Meh. Wasnt really that excited about getting a sequel to Megaman Legends in the first place. Never thought the games were that good to have such huge, rabid fandom.

I bet the game sucked anyway. Companies cancel games for reason.

Its cancellation does suck for the whole series though, but people overreact too much to this. Some are even very hypocritic, yelling that "Capcom is dead to me" or "They're killing Megaman" yet have no problem purchasing the newest Resident Evil. He'll be back in a proper game eventually.

Re: Talking Point: Achievements, Trophies and Wii U

TheChosen

I always liked what they did in Brawl, with the challenge thing. Im okay with the achievements, but I'd wish unlocking them would give me rewards.

Also, achievements more or less indicate how much game you still have left to play and sometimes are kind of spoilery, especially progress related. Some even show you how many secrets you still havent uncovered and Id like to figure out that part myself.

Re: See, Kids? Sonic and Mario Weren't Always Friends

TheChosen

There was a war? I missed out all the wars against Megadrives and Playstations, mostly because I was too young and later all of my friends had the latest Nintendo console of the time, the Nintendo 64.

I even borrowed a Megadrive from my friend once.

Re: Konami Dissolving Hudson Soft

TheChosen

Such is live.I dont really see why we should hate Konami for doing what is just business.

Nevertheless, another legend has passed on. Master Higgings, Bomberman, Bonk, that ship from Star Force....we salute you.

Re: Icon Games: "Nintendo's Policies Put Jobs at Risk"

TheChosen

From the company that brought us such memorable instant-classics like Soccer Bashi, Family Games, Arcade Sports and Stunt Cars....

Strict? Yup. Awful online store? Definitely. So but some effort on making the bloody games if you're expecting some revenue in the first place and dont just expect that gimped online store to work just because it has the word Wii on it.

I dont think this would fly on Steam either, so maybe you should try the Apple Store? I've heard they pretty much accept anything.
