Well I hope Nintendo gets a good chuck of the sales money if they are the ones paying for it to be published. I can't wait for this game. I love jrpgs.
When the next Tails game goes to PS4 though without any knowledge of how many "fans" of tails games there are on that system, can someone please call this guy on his complete BS he is spouting? A console wont be successful without more games. But companies wont put their games on the Wii U because others aren't putting games on it? Im sick to death of this excuse. No one seems to say these things about putting new games onto PS4 or NextBox, Just Nintendo.
Look, everyone knows Nintendo can do better than this. All we need is them to realize is that we want lots of Nintendo games at launch. Don't try and be friendly to third parties by letting them release whatever crappy old port they want at launch. Where has that got you Nintendo? It failed with the 3DS's launch and it failed again with the Wii U's launch. We've had poor old ports of games instead of new games. EA has all but walked out on you. The Rayman fiasco. For gods sake Nintendo, just make some games of your own, lots of them, and watch the system and your games sell. And then talk to third parties who will be begging you to let them make games for your console. Not the other way around.
The fee is too high thats for sure. It's like a whole new world when I load up the european eshop storefront compared to my Aussie one. I like to buy things on the eShop to support the platform, but seeing as how when I use my credit card to buy things, I still get charged an international transaction fee. Our Aussie eShop is a rouse. Even Nintendo cant be bothered having an Australian based site, yet they still over charge us for their games, dont have as many games on there, and get charged hidden fees by the banks for using it. We aussies are getting royally screwed over.
I love the Gamepad. If there were a few things I would change with it it would be to have analogue buttons and triggers, and possibly some trigger placement, and a multi touch screen. But I accept the way it is other wise the cost of it would be unfathomable. Ever since the VMU on the Dreamcast controllers, I knew there was something special about having a 2nd screen. Then the DS came along and proved it was awesome. Now if only the Wii U would catch on.
I don't own a tablet, so instead of going to my laptop, or using my smartphone to onto websites, I find myself using the Gamepad a lot. It is excellent for browsing. It's fast and clear and just generally awesome. But when in that browsing mode, it is instinct to want to use pinch to zoom for pictures. I can get by without it, but I can see how it could be dismissed by the general public. That, combined with the low portability, short battery life, all compounds to make it seem less attractive than a stand alone tablet, but that's not where the Gamepad really sits. It's somewhere between the gaming, TV watching and Internet browsing crowd. Feeling connected to these things as opposed to just using device A and device B at once.
I wish the game wasn't so short, but that is my only criticism of the whole game. It is still worth every penny. In fact I think it's because it is so enjoyable that when it ends, it's almost heartbreaking. I can't wait to see what their next game will be.
Damn lucky Americans. I was hoping Nintendo was going to be taking over publishing duties of SMT games for their systems. I hope they still do in regions where Atlus doesn't seem to care about.
While I have no problems with the current price, a price drop is needed to make the userbase expand to a decent size. Here is why:
Despite what Nintendo say and what us agreeing fans think, Wii U tech is clearly old. Why would any gamer with a 360 or PS3 jump on board with Wii U for graphics that look no better than what they currently have? And with the next gen consoles promising much more powerful graphics than Wii U, they are better off waiting.
The only ways to convince the masses to flock to Wii U is to have great first party content available and lots of it. So far this hasn't happened. Secondly we need to see 3rd party games coming to the console that the PS3 and 360 are getting and they need to be released simultaneously. No more old ports. No more waiting for a Wii U conversion. Why buy a Wii U when more games are coming to the current systems sooner and more of them.
The second way is to cut the price. Install base goes up, 3rd party games appear more often.
So far Nintendo have failed to have lots of 1st party games available or announced, and failed to secure big 3rd party games.
I know this sounds like I am down on the system, but its just some advice I wish Nintendo would take, so more people can fall in love with the Wii U like I have. It's a brilliant system, the Gamepad is a brilliant concept. I use it so much. It's my fave controller ever. And there is a lot to look forward to. But I just don't think it will be enough for the system to find massive success without Nintendo going all out and throwing games at us from all their franchises, creating new ones, and throwing money at devs to bring their big franchises to Wii U. I will be happy with whatever Nintendo do. But without some major action on the price front and content front, the Wii U remains a hard sell to the general public.
So many reports of indie games coming to Wii U. It's good news all round really, but I do have to wonder if all of these games will be available worldwide.
Go Gunman Clive! Well earned. It's a fab game and deserving of as many sales as possible. Plus the extra cheap price compared to other titles certainly warrants a purchase from everybody who owns a 3DS.
Can't wait for this update. I don't mind the games taking a while to load, but going into settings and quitting games and going to Miiverse should be all sped up.
Great work Nintendo. Now get to work on making Miiverse available on smartphones, and 3DS, and get rid of this NNID business of being locked to a single console. Then I will be an even happier Wii U owner.
While I wouldn't be buying it as I hate first person shooters, its a shame its not coming. There is no point porting it at a later date either. We already have enough old ports of games on the Wii U. It would be ever so nice to see a story about a huge 3rd party game that's coming to all platforms. The only ones that come to mind now are Assassins Creed 4 and Rayman. Possibly Watchdogs. All Ubisoft games.
I want my Miyamoto Mii sent through spotpass that other people have been getting but it won't get sent to my 3DS for some reason. Only got a puzzle piece sent through.
Tomb Raider sold well over 4 million copies in its first month and they are expecting more? That's a success in my book. If they can't make money from that, something is very wrong with their business strategy.
Here's a tip Square Enix. Stop turning your main rpg franchises into online games. Return FF to proper turn based gameplay. Stop trying to make it so realistic. And give the people what they want. A remake of FFVII.
I have a 12gig data limit where I live and I pay through the nose for it. I can't get ADSL, so wireless is my only option. It's expensive and prone to drop outs and totally useless for online gaming. I buy a lot of smaller eShop games on my 3DS and Wii U, but retail games, unless they are fairly small file sizes, I'm forced to go boxed. Which i don't mind at all, and it does really depend on the game. Especially with the 3DS. It's much more convenient having everything already there on my handheld console, as it saves having to find and pack and keep safe a bunch of carts. But I don't see much of an advantage with having full game downloads on my Wii U or any other home console unless its a good deal cheaper by buying online (which it generally isn't) or its a game that is hard to find in stores.
It wouldn't be an issue if Nintendo decided not to charge so much for all their own old games. I'm willing to pay a premium for games that have been updated, fixed, translated, etc, but paying $6.50 (AUS) for what is basically a ROM on the 3DS or Wii U with functions like 2 player actually taken out, it's just insane. Now these 30cent VC Wii U games. Obviously not sustainable, but they are probably selling very well.
Had mine at launch, and while I did have some away time from the system due to lack of games at the start, that sure changes and time went on. And it's mainly due to the 3DS eShop. There has been so many games on there that are amazing. If you have a 3DS but haven't taken it online to buy things from the eShop you are seriously missing out. I have almost played my 3DS more than I have my old DS consoles. It's just that good. And once Pokemon X & Y get here it will be my most played console for sure.
I love 3DS, even more so when I upgraded to the XL. If anyone has yet to buy one, definitely buy the XL version, and I implore you to seek out the games on the eShop.
"And as fun as the online component is, it's disappointing that there's no local multiplayer option whatsoever; it would have been a blast to tear around Fairhaven with one player on the GamePad and the other on the TV."
Damn, thats me out. When I saw that this game was two player thats what I imagined it to be. Even a split screen would have been awesome. I really wanted to buy this game. I need more Wii U games and am quite happy to support 3rd party games and this looked like the one to get. No local multiplayer though stops me from buying though. I'm so dissapointed.
Well, considering the other versions were so critically panned, it makes no sense to release a Wii U version of the game. It wouldn't sell much due to the low userbase of the Wii U coupled with the stink of bad reviews from the other console versions. Had all versions launched together they might have stood a better chance of decent enough sales from the Wii U version, but being delayed, having bad reviews, with every possibility of the Wii U version being the worst yet, it's definitely for the best that it doesn't see the light of day.
It's such a shame. Here was meant to be a big 3rd party game launching across all the systems, a game that wasn't skipping the Wii U, and this is what the final result is. Nintendo aren't having much luck.
I really wish that the 3DS saw those kind of sales numbers outside of Japan. It would help if we got some more high profile games like Japan does all the time instead of months and months before anything good comes out.
I loved the Powerstone games. Why haven't they been getting the rerelease upon rerelease treatment that Capcom usually bestows upon their "beloved" franchises.
It is a horrible situation for Wii U owners and potential owners. I think the ports were acceptable at launch so the system had some kind of library. But it should be all new stuff from then on. How any publisher can justify their stance of saying Wii U ports of games don't sell when they are usually very old games, some with graphical issues, and most with DLC not coming for them, it makes me so angry.
I do want this game, Criterion have been really supportive of the Wii U. It's just I bet it's EA's decision not to support the Wii U version with DLC. It's like Rayman, I want to support the developers, but I don't want to support the publishers. Well, not EA, Activision and Ubisoft anyway.
Does he even think before making comments like these? Whether or not the Wii U succeeds, saying that it isn't innovative with its extra screen, but then go on to say that the PS4 with extra ram is innovative? Erm what?
Both Xbox360 and PS3 are sitting at around 70 million units sold worldwide, and are quite successful doing those numbers, how can he think that the next ones are going to be selling close to a million units each when they can't pull it off this gen, because we have smartphone and tablet gaming already intruding where they never used to when the 360 and PS3 were released, we have ouya and the Steambox coming to further eat away at market share of the traditional home console, and PC gaming is on the rise and getting stronger every day. I can see either the PS4 or 720 going big numbers, but I really can't see both of them being even more successful than their successors.
Also I think the WiiU will remain very profitable for Nintendo if they manage to sell 50 million consoles. I dare say some of the Wii owners that only bought one casually for Wii Sports and Wii Fit won't be back to play this time, but the core Nintendo fans should see them through to some big numbers eventually. It won't have the numbers to support the big AAA games of next gen that will need to sell 5 million or more copies to break even, but games for it won't have to be bank breaking to create.
I'm no fan of this Pachter at all. I don't see how his bias and blatant fanboyism to the latest and greatest tech despite what history has to say can be taken seriously.
I loved my Megadrive. Mainly for the Sonic games but I hired out so many games. Has the SNES had the jrpg releases in PAL areas I probably would have played it much more, but I loved the Sega feel so much more back then.
So they want Nintendo to supply them with a free dev kit, some money as a bare minimum if their game doesn't sell, and expect their character to be in a Nintendo franchise, and even then not promise some kind of exclusivity? What?
Interesting. Oh well at least the 3DS version will have better controls and 3D. Level 5 is one of my favourite developers, even though their games take take forever to get localised. I wish them all the success they deserve.
I haven't done the update yet, but I hope it fixes the freezing issue. My Miiverse crashes almost every time I'm on there poking around, NSMBU has frozen a few times, as well as Nintendoland, but I hardly play that any more. Sonic Transformed as failed to boot a few times but hasn't froze. Black Ops 2 hasn't had any problems. Scribblenauts has been perfect since day 1. I really could lose hours in Miiverse if it didn't freeze for me constantly.
Should probably leave Okami and Okamiden as they are. Of course another entry in the series would be great, but if the first two didn't sell that well, I doubt another one would, even if it reviewed well. I would like to see Okami HD on the eshop though. But I probably wouldn't buy it as i already have it twice. Maybe a reworked Okamiden for 3DS on the eShop could work too.
A first person shooter dev that thinks people only play first person shooters. There are many other genres of games that online multiplayer just doesn't suit. What a stupid thing to say. But having games that can get use online functions to enhance games is good. NSMBU does it well with Miiverse comments. ZombiU does it when you come across someone else's zombified avatar. The notion that unconnected 1 player games should just go away though is so narrow and biased toward just one aspect of one genre. Please.

Re: Platinum Games: Ask Capcom if You Want Okami 2
Should probably leave Okami and Okamiden as they are. Of course another entry in the series would be great, but if the first two didn't sell that well, I doubt another one would, even if it reviewed well. I would like to see Okami HD on the eshop though. But I probably wouldn't buy it as i already have it twice. Maybe a reworked Okamiden for 3DS on the eShop could work too.

Runner 2? Why you take so long.

Re: Crytek CEO: "The Notion Of A Single Player Experience Has To Go Away"
A first person shooter dev that thinks people only play first person shooters. There are many other genres of games that online multiplayer just doesn't suit. What a stupid thing to say. But having games that can get use online functions to enhance games is good. NSMBU does it well with Miiverse comments. ZombiU does it when you come across someone else's zombified avatar. The notion that unconnected 1 player games should just go away though is so narrow and biased toward just one aspect of one genre. Please.
