Re: Rumour: Dark Souls II Now In Development For Nintendo Switch

Switch_will_fail

@GraveLordXD I've never heard anyone complain about Tomb of the Giants before so that ones a little odd to me. I like Tomb of the Giants. And as far as Lost Izalith goes, it's one poor area in a sea of well designed areas. It seems a little odd to complain about DS1's level design as a whole based off of one area. But to each their own

@GraveLordXD The biggest problem with 3 is not "bad" level design per say but very linear level design. It's pretty lackluster compared to DS1's sprawling interconnecting world. Other than that though DS3 is a pretty worth while sequel. It just sucks that the Switch probably couldn't handle it, not without major compromises anyway

Re: Review: Dead Cells (Switch)

I was pleasantly surprised to find out this game was getting a physical release at first. Until I realized that not only does it cost more than the digital version but the Switch version costs an additional $5 more than other physical versions, lol.

On top of that Okami for Switch isnt getting a physical release at all in the West despite having one on ps4 and Xbone. Apparently owning physical games on Switch just isnt meant to be 😢

Re: Soapbox: Fortnite's Motion Controls Leave a Lot to Be Desired

Switch_will_fail

The reason Splatoon 2's motion controls feel "smoother" is because of the FPS. 60 fps is naturally going to feel smoother than 30, thats a given. But that doesnt mean Fortnite's motion controls are worse by any means.

Honestly, Splatoon 2 is the one that could learn from Fortnite. Not the other way around. Fortnite offers more control customization options and has better friend connectivity options too. Why is "Team Turfwar" not an option? Oh wait, gotta save that game mode exclusively for Splatfests for some reason. And don't even get me started on Salmon Run. Lol

Don't get me wrong I love Splatoon as much as the next guy but if you stop and look at these games objectively, you'll see that Fortnite is hands down the superior multiplayer experience

@geshem You should try upgrading your nail at the nailsmith and also equip different charms. Some times switching around my charms was enough for me to get through a boss I was having trouble with.

Also due to the open ended nature of the game there's nothing stopping you from leaving that boss and coming back to it later once you have better equipment.

I haven't been able to put Hollow Knight down since I bought it.

It's picking up the slack left by Celeste. I found Celeste to be wayyy over hyped and I was left disappointed. Hollow Knight on the other hand is tough but fair, has an amazing art style, great soundtrack, tons of content, and it's all for just $15.

Hollow Knight is an absolute no-brainer.

Re: Review: Little Nightmares: Complete Edition (Switch)

These people in the comments freaking out over "The reviewer being entitled to their own opinion" are probably the same people that DDoS attacked the Jimquistion when he gave Breath of the Wild a 7 lol.

But in all seriousness, yes, of course the reviewer is entitled to their own opinion. That goes without saying. However, that doesn't relinquish said reviewer from any form of criticism himself or of the responsibility of a fair review.

What if someone gave The Witcher 3 a 1 out of 10? Would you say that's a good review simply because the critic is entitled to their opinion? I know I wouldn't. I would argue that person probably has poor taste, and I would suggest others to disregard that review.

What I'm trying to get to here is: Don't let this review scare you away from playing Little Nightmares. Little Nightmares is a really neat game that more people need to experience. We need more games like this, so when one comes around we should probably try to support it

Re: Soapbox: Dark Souls’ Ruthless Recipe Perfectly Suits Switch’s Evolving Audience

Dark Souls is my absolute favorite game of all time. I've put well over 500 hours into it spread across multiple platforms and the fact that this port has me excited to jump back in even after all that speaks volumes to how timeless this game is.

Dark Souls 2 and 3 kind of left a sour taste in my mouth, they were good but not quite the masterpiece DS1 is. This is absolutely the best place to jump into for newcomers. And as far as the difficulty goes.....well, git gud.

Re: Feature: Vote For Your 2017 Nintendo Life Game of the Year

Switch_will_fail

@Tarvaax That is true, I'll give you that. BotW story takes a backseat intentionally so that the open world and the gameplay can shine more brilliantly. But that doesn't at all excuse Nintendo's poor choices in marketing the game. They could have focused more on the world and gameplay aspects, and less so on the story in the trailers. I'm sure less people would have felt mislead.

Re: Feature: Vote For Your 2017 Nintendo Life Game of the Year

Switch_will_fail

@Tarvaax I'm fine with criticism but complaining that Breath of the Wild isn't like past Zelda games comes off as counterintuitive. That's the entire point of Breath of the Wild, to break past conventions, to move the series forward in a new direction. If you don't get that then maybe the game just isn't for you. But don't act surprised when people disagree with you when you are upset that BotW isn't what YOU want out of a Zelda game. If you want it to be like the classics then I suggest you maybe play those instead

Re: Review: Yooka-Laylee (Switch eShop)

Switch_will_fail

@Galenmereth You don't have to "yield" those elements as subjective but that doesnt change the fact that they are. You say you won't argue that YL has no merit yet your words suggest otherwise. Both games can be good in their own right. One doesnt have to be good at the expense of the other. Gamers are always very polarizing in their opinions, everything has to be compared to those around it and I dont really understand why it has to be this way. If you stop comparing every game you play to your personal favorites you'll enjoy them a lot more.

Re: Review: Yooka-Laylee (Switch eShop)

Switch_will_fail

@Galenmereth Odyssey is worse in terms of graphical fidelity and resolution in both handheld and tv mode. Also Odyssey is less challenging, has more but much smaller and basic levels. Mario isnt better than YL in every category, they both have thier own strengths and weaknesses. Stop making out Odyssey to be better than it is
