Re: Talking Point: DS Games Deserve Digital Distribution on 3DS

SpaceKappa

Great article, Tom!

I think it'd be a neat feature, although I wouldn't take advantage of it. I hate how DS games look on the 3DS, all smeared and smudged on the larger, higher resolution screen. Sure, I can hold start and select to run them at the proper aspect ratio so they look sharp as a tack, but then I've got all that wasted real estate. I still have my DSi (as I never get rid of systems) so regular DS games will always be played on their native system.

However! I'm a picky guy, and not everyone has a weird brain like me. I think that if they did add DS titles to the Virtual Console it'd be very, very successful. A lot of people either skipped the DS or had a lost/broken one that was never replaced, and this would be a good way for them to catch up on a massive library.

Re: Get Your Pokémon Sequels Teaser Trailer Here

SpaceKappa

That's what I was thinking as well. Combining the third version with the remakes is actually kind of a rad idea.

I'm dying for some new information, though, not just a trailer that pans over the still images they've already released. I NEED MY FIX NINTENDO

@Hejiru

Easy there buddy! We're working on corrections. You can forgive us for the confusion; getting secondhand reports from both a Japanese television show and a Japanese Twitter account leaves plenty of room for wires to be crossed and things to be misinterpreted. Rest assured spreading inaccurate information is never our goal, and we'll be aiming to fix whatever needs fixin'.

Re: Turn Your Retro Cartridges Into ROMS, Legally

Putting aside the legality, this looks like a slick device. I love the actual design of it and while I prefer to play games on my couch rather than at a computer, this would be fun to just plug into my laptop when my wife has dibs on the TV.

Re: Aonuma: "We'll See" About Zelda Voice Acting

SpaceKappa

What I find interesting is the most vocal complainers about Link not speaking are people who don't even play Zelda. An acquaintance of mine HATES Nintendo but he keeps insisting that Link needs to talk. I don't really know why it matters to him.

I, personally, feel that there's more than enough emotion and personality in the little grunts and exclamations of the characters that we don't need voice acting. It would just seem so ODD with full voice overs at this point.

Re: Rumour: Xenoblade Chronicles North America-Bound

SpaceKappa

I spent a good chunk of time in the trenches at GameStop, and I can verify that is indeed what their computer system looks like. On the surface it looks legit. A word being added to a title, like "Fever" to Rhythm Heaven isn't enough for them to change the listing most of the time.

If this IS true, though, it means that all my ritualistic sacrifices to the RPG Gods paid off. You're welcome, everyone!

Re: Reggie: Virtual Console on Wii Isn't Dead

@Rapadash6 I imagine Star Fox and Yoshi's Island haven't made it yet because of emulation issues, due to them using the Super FX and Super FX2 chips, respectively. Here's hoping they find a way to emulate them soon!

Re: Peter Moore Bigs Up Wii U's Online Functions Again

SpaceKappa

@WarthoggerPete About a week or so ago, lots of sites were reporting a rumor that Valve and EA were both attempting to woo Nintendo into integrating their respective digital distribution platforms into Wii U's online functionality. It just struck me as fishy when a few days later the CEO of EA comes out praising Wii U's online plans.

Re: Peter Moore Bigs Up Wii U's Online Functions Again

SpaceKappa

I wonder if this is a subtle way of saying Nintendo opted to make Origin, rather than Steam, part of its online plan?

Either way, considering all of the glowing talk from big industry names and the confidence they seem to have in the machine it's going to be a knockout.

Re: Nintendo: We Won't Charge Extra to Unlock In-Game Content

SpaceKappa

I don't mind paying for DLC, it's the Day One DLC where all you're downloading is a 128kb unlock key for content that's already on the disc that really irks me. Same with retailer-exclusive preorder bonuses that, again, just unlock something that's already on the disc. Part of why I love Nintendo so much is that they don't play that game.

I love DLC that extends the life of a game (look at something like Mass Effect or Fallout 3), but it's the nickel-and-dime stuff (pay $20 for extra costumes in any new Capcom fighter) that I can't get behind.
