I think it'd be a neat feature, although I wouldn't take advantage of it. I hate how DS games look on the 3DS, all smeared and smudged on the larger, higher resolution screen. Sure, I can hold start and select to run them at the proper aspect ratio so they look sharp as a tack, but then I've got all that wasted real estate. I still have my DSi (as I never get rid of systems) so regular DS games will always be played on their native system.
However! I'm a picky guy, and not everyone has a weird brain like me. I think that if they did add DS titles to the Virtual Console it'd be very, very successful. A lot of people either skipped the DS or had a lost/broken one that was never replaced, and this would be a good way for them to catch up on a massive library.
That said, the list of the old Gym Leaders to appear has already been revealed (I won't post it for spoilery reasons) and you don't have anything to worry about.
I'm with you Tom, Epic Mickey for me. Started it a while ago, never got around to finishing it. There's a lot of love that went into making that game, and that makes it more fun to play.
Other than that, just my Minecraft server with my wife and friends!
Wow, that looks deliciously painful, I can't wait to play it. I missed Super Meat Boy, so this will be my first go-round with such a difficult platformer. I love the simplistic art style, which I think goes well with the style of game it is. I'm definitely excited for this now.
@billy-beauts I didn't mean it like that. The "launch" level of excitement lasted that long, but I was still really into the Wii for a very long time, even with a second console joining my entertainment center!
@Sony_70 Man, playing as a human is boring. You play as a human every day! I'm leaning towards Ogre, which is odd for me because I usually don't like big hulking characters.
I'm definitely interested. The world and character designs are simply gorgeous (but what else would you expect from Toriyama?) and I can't wait to see more. Still holding out for Wii U info, though. That's the version I'll be picking up.
I saw this while I was picking up Avengers vs X-Men yesterday, it looked AMAZING. I have a couple of the UDON books already (Mega Man Complete Works, Street Fighter Tribute) and they're wonderful products. I hope to add this to my coffee table soon!
Easy there buddy! We're working on corrections. You can forgive us for the confusion; getting secondhand reports from both a Japanese television show and a Japanese Twitter account leaves plenty of room for wires to be crossed and things to be misinterpreted. Rest assured spreading inaccurate information is never our goal, and we'll be aiming to fix whatever needs fixin'.
Make it so! I loved the first game, especially since it gave me a chance to play as B.D. Joe, Beat, Billy Hatcher, the Bonanza Bros and Chu Chus again!
Ooooh, I definitely want to know more about Samurai Sword Destiny. Uninspired name notwithstanding, it looks vaguely reminiscent of Muramasa on Wii, which was a game I had a LOT of fun with.
Putting aside the legality, this looks like a slick device. I love the actual design of it and while I prefer to play games on my couch rather than at a computer, this would be fun to just plug into my laptop when my wife has dibs on the TV.
This happened with Twilight Princess as well, didn't it? Wasn't there a room where if you saved and quit, then reloaded your file there you couldn't get out?
What I find interesting is the most vocal complainers about Link not speaking are people who don't even play Zelda. An acquaintance of mine HATES Nintendo but he keeps insisting that Link needs to talk. I don't really know why it matters to him.
I, personally, feel that there's more than enough emotion and personality in the little grunts and exclamations of the characters that we don't need voice acting. It would just seem so ODD with full voice overs at this point.
Good call on Skylanders, Thomas; if it wasn't on the list, I would have had to prepare a short essay (and PowerPoint presentation) explaining why it SHOULD be.
I spent a good chunk of time in the trenches at GameStop, and I can verify that is indeed what their computer system looks like. On the surface it looks legit. A word being added to a title, like "Fever" to Rhythm Heaven isn't enough for them to change the listing most of the time.
If this IS true, though, it means that all my ritualistic sacrifices to the RPG Gods paid off. You're welcome, everyone!
@Rapadash6 I imagine Star Fox and Yoshi's Island haven't made it yet because of emulation issues, due to them using the Super FX and Super FX2 chips, respectively. Here's hoping they find a way to emulate them soon!
I don't necessarily agree with Miyamoto's sentiment, but I certainly respect it. He's very firm in his dedication to keeping games simple, which, in today's industry, is pretty admirable.
@WarthoggerPete About a week or so ago, lots of sites were reporting a rumor that Valve and EA were both attempting to woo Nintendo into integrating their respective digital distribution platforms into Wii U's online functionality. It just struck me as fishy when a few days later the CEO of EA comes out praising Wii U's online plans.
I wonder if this is a subtle way of saying Nintendo opted to make Origin, rather than Steam, part of its online plan?
Either way, considering all of the glowing talk from big industry names and the confidence they seem to have in the machine it's going to be a knockout.
I don't mind paying for DLC, it's the Day One DLC where all you're downloading is a 128kb unlock key for content that's already on the disc that really irks me. Same with retailer-exclusive preorder bonuses that, again, just unlock something that's already on the disc. Part of why I love Nintendo so much is that they don't play that game.
I love DLC that extends the life of a game (look at something like Mass Effect or Fallout 3), but it's the nickel-and-dime stuff (pay $20 for extra costumes in any new Capcom fighter) that I can't get behind.
I was REALLY hoping this would come our way and I'm overjoyed that someone had the sense to do it.The trailer has no gameplay, but I don't care. Inafune's name being attached to the game along with a trailer that fantastic has me signed up, sight unseen.

Re: Talking Point: DS Games Deserve Digital Distribution on 3DS
@Nanoline Oh, I know. I don't like having all that blank space on the screens, especially the touch screen.

Well this just makes me want Animal Crossing 3DS even more!

Re: Skylanders Giants 3DS To Be 'Completely Different' Than Wii
Color me excited. Skylanders is one of my favorite games. Rad figures, excellent production values and some of the most fun co-op I've ever played.
Re: Funcom: Wii U Could Do MMOs Without Compromise
Dragon Quest X is going to be amazingly awesome on Wii U. I'm also holding out for Phantasy Star Online 2!
Re: Adventure Time is Coming to DS
Algebraic!
Re: Review: PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond (Wii)
@Katzii I haven't played the first one, so I don't really have a way to compare them. I'm just going by how PokéPark 2 stands up as its own game.
Re: SEGA AM2's First 3DS Project is Not Virtua Fighter
@Heavy_Barrel
THIS. There needs to be some Fighting Vipers up ins, and soon.
Re: Get Your Pokémon Sequels Teaser Trailer Here
That's what I was thinking as well. Combining the third version with the remakes is actually kind of a rad idea.
I'm dying for some new information, though, not just a trailer that pans over the still images they've already released. I NEED MY FIX NINTENDO
Re: North America Gets Pokémon Black and White 2 this Fall
Woo! I'm glad I held off on importing my Living Pokédex into my copy of White. It would be a pain in the butt to move it over again.
Re: Pokémon Black & White Version 2 Announced
That is because Pokémon are awesome.

Re: Nintendo Reveals More Dates for Zelda Concert Tour
I'd really like to know why Nintendo seems to hate Boston so much.

Re: Digital Makes Up 14% of Key Nintendo Franchise Sales
I'd say another "Nintendo Life Favorites" section in the eShop should do the trick.
Re: Reggie: Virtual Console on Wii Isn't Dead
@Incognito_D Well, my other explanation is that they re-released it on the DS not long ago and would rather people pay $35 for it instead of $8.
