@Phle I had trouble with the dodging during combat until I turned off the motion control and used the R button. I couldn't get used to whipping the GamePad up to dodge. Now I'm unstoppable, mwahahahaha.
@Rect_Pola My wife has all three of the Mega Man X D-arts (X and both versions of Zero), with Zero on display in a permanent flamenco dancing pose because it's hilarious.
I also have the Sonic Nendoroid that I considered bringing in for some of these photos but I thought Link and Layton was interesting enough.
Yes! I sadly missed this the first time around, DEFINITELY going for the Wii U version. I hope they include the option to play it with the original 16-bit graphics.
@Phle Well, this is more "posable display piece" than action figure, and the price definitely denotes that!
Link looks amazing on display though. My wife @LadyStarstorm is a HUGE fan of Japanese collectibles and figures so she knows all the ins & outs of the different manufacturers and figure lines. Last night I barely got to hold the new Link Figma because she was so intent on posing him dynamically for these photos!
I was disappointed to see so many negative reviews on this one because I have a soft spot for those crazy Rabbids, good to see that there's still fun to be had!
The interface is the same as on the PS3 but it's slower and often won't load any videos at all. When scrolling through my subscriptions it kept saying "no videos" even though I'm pretty sure the Angry Video Game Nerd has a video or two up on his channel.
I'm sure it'll be fixed with a patch, but I'm kinda wondering how it got finalized at this point.
Also in the interest of transparency, I've been spending as much time with the Wii U games as I can, but even though it's an accounting position, I work at a grocery store and have had to help out since it's Thanksgiving week and I've been pulling 13 hour days. Expect an onslaught of reviews by me once things return to normal!
@rjejr I was in the same boat... videos on the Nintendo Channel on Wii ran slower than molasses in January if I didn't have them on low, and my Wii was literally ten inches from my router. From my experience yesterday it seems that the Wii U's WiFi capability is substantially more reliable. I was even able to do video chat and aside from an audio hiccup it was smooth as silk.
@rjejr Also their WiFi connection is MUCH better than what I've experienced with the PS3. Before I hardwired my PS3 via the ethernet port a single gig would take me upwards of four hours, and I have very good cable internet. I was able to download 5 gigs on Wii U in one hour.
@Red_Kinetic Probably early next year is when they'll start shipping with the firmware update pre-insalled. I imagine they'll wait until Nintendo TVii and all that is ready to go before they bother.
@rjejr It's inconvenient yes, but this update allowed them to get ahead on manufacturing and start pumping these babies out before the firmware was finalized, allowing them to avoid shortages like with the original Wii. Given the choice between hefty firmware update and not being able to purchase a console until next spring, the update is definitely the lesser of two evils.
If you've got halfway decent internet the update will probably only take you an hour. Use that time to get some chores done around the house! That's what I did.
@ReshiramZekrom Not that I've seen. It was an odd switch to make for Nintendo, but I imagine since they're letting you use any old USB hard drive converting those into blocks would be difficult.
So it won't even function like the Wii does, where you store games on the SD card but they're temporarily moved to the console itself each time you start them?
The ability to pause a game, open the browser, then go back into the game is awesome. It'll definitely come in handy when stuck in a game or trying to find all the heart pieces in the next Zelda!
It was really cool seeing all of our individual lists come together to form this one super-list. Some of my top games are towards the bottom of this list (and some of my lower-ranked games didn't even make it at all!) but all in all I think it's an incredibly solid top 20.
@rjejr Each Dream Cloud takes about 5 minutes to regenerate, so around an hour or so depending on how many you have.
If you're buying it with your credit card directly from the eShop you can add just the amount of the game. I've done that buying Virtual Console games.
Skylanders Giants! Day one purchase for me. My wife and I loved the original (got it on Xbox for HD-ness) and the sequel will definitely be gracing our Wii U on launch day.

Re: Review: Darksiders II (Wii U)
@RetroGBHippie92 I didn't play the first one either and I haven't felt lost at all. The intro sets it up pretty well.
Re: Review: Darksiders II (Wii U)
@ueI Aside from a few camera hiccups I didn't run into any.
Re: Review: Darksiders II (Wii U)
@rjejr It's used for a map and inventory when not used for off-TV play. It's kinda cool, though, as it allows you to hot-swap equipment very quickly.

@3Dash My wife ordered ours from AmiAmi... it was around $40 shipped, I think. She handled all of it.

Re: Wii U Update Will Be Available Out Of The Box Next Year
I love how my launch day picture has become the defacto Wii U "update" photo for Nintendo Life.

Re: Review: Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge (Wii U)
@Slapshot I know, that's why I said HOME console.
Re: Review: Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge (Wii U)
I haven't played the original release on 360/PS3, so I really wanted to review this as its own game to see how it stands up. Turns out, pretty well!
Re: Review: Nintendo Land (Wii U)
Great review Morgan! I'm hopelessly in love with Nintendo Land. I'm a man that loved Wii Sports... but I like this more.

Re: Halting Wii U System Update May Brick the System
@SkywardLink98 That's disabled any time the system is doing an update, be it firmware or a game patch.
Re: Halting Wii U System Update May Brick the System
@LavaTwilight Yep! Any time a console or computer is accessing any kind of memory, cutting the power is a bad idea.

@LavaTwilight Hard disk drive.

Re: Review: Pokémon Dream Radar (3DS eShop)
@Aqueous I'm not sure! I probably could have worded it better, but there's 21 available not counting the bonus Pokémon you can obtain by slapping in a Gen IV cartridge.

Re: Rumour: Death's Apprentice Heading to Wii U in, wait for it... 2015
Oh man, I haven't messed around with RPG Maker in YEARS but all of those sprites and tilesets are immediately familiar.
