Fantastic review, James! I'm DYING to play it myself. I know how rare it is to see 10s given out around here and it just seems to solidify all the great things everyone's been saying. It needs to be Sunday, like, NOW.
@V8_Ninja, have you read anything they've done besides their comic proper? When they set out to tell a story (Cardboard Tube Samurai, Lookouts, On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, all their Penny Arcade Presents stuff) it's incredible. They're fantastic at creating and fleshing out worlds, they just choose not to for their comic strip. Knowing Jerry's writing and Mike's art, this is going to be simply fantastic.
My wife and I have been having an absolute BLAST with this, and honestly it's our pick for Game of the Year so far. It's THAT much fun in co-op. We've already been back to the store several times to buy more figures and can't wait until the second wave hits next week (as it contains characters we're dying to play with, like Warnado and Hex).
You'd think this game would just be a cash grab, but the production values are just so HIGH. The story is written by the writers of Toy Story and the music is done by Hans Zimmer, who you probably know from the Pirates of the Carribbean movies.
It's a SUPERB action-RPG and playing it in co-op makes it so much fun. I honestly think everyone should play this; it's just too good!
Good decision to keep motion controls in, they're a big part of why I'm so excited for the game. When they first showed off the Wii Remote, all I could think about was swinging it around to control the Master Sword. Twilight Princess let me do that, albiet rather clumsily, so I'm REALLY excited to take advantage of the MotionPlus functionality here. My dream from 2006 will finally come true!
I'm in, sight unseen. If you have those names and pedigrees all in one cartridge, you probably need special gloves to handle it. Mere mortals are not physically capable of touching such a concentrated amount of awesome with bare skin.
The original was a pretty ok game (I got stuck and didn't finish it) so I'm not super stoked for the sequel, but I see it as a good sign that all of these third-party developers are supporting Wii U. It'd be very easy for them to brush it off and stick to the status quo, but it's nice to see Wii U being thought of as more of a "contender" than the Wii was.
I was skeptical of this at first, mostly because it gave me the impression that a new model was forthcoming. It's cheap enough that I'm not really worried about it, and hey, the box looks classy!
I was under the impression that this was going to be a straight port of the original GBA game... I'm super stoked to see all they're adding to it! I played the GC version with friends, but I'm looking forward to tackling this one with my wife and sister-in-law.
Hm. If the 3DS had launched to critical acclaim, sold out everywhere consistently and been every bit as awesome as Nintendo had said it'd be, I would NOT be concerned about this.
However, that's not the case, and evidence has shown time and time again how rushed the 3DS was. As a day-one adopter who was already burned by an immediate price SLASH, now when an attachment is being provided to compensate for the device's shortcomings, I'm afraid I'm going to get burned AGAIN next year when a new model is launched with the extra circle pad and shoulder button built in.
As it stands, I'm very much hoping that this is more of a Capcom attachment than a Nintendo one.
@edhe That's been my problem... I added money to buy Link's Awakening DX, and it left me THIRTY CENTS SHORT of buying Super Mario Land with the remainder. It's frustrating, for sure.
Hey, all you guys who paid $250 at launch and are saying you spent too much... I spent TWICE that on a 3DS for me and one for my wife, plus multiple games!
I'm not complainin', though. I love Nintendo and I got to be part of the hype, which is a lot of the fun for me. The price cut stung for sure, but I'm happy with the free games (the majority of which I'd buy anyway) when they really could have just given us nothing.

Re: Penny Arcade and Nintendo Team Up for Zelda Comic
That's awesome! I'm a huge Penny Arcade fan and I love seeing Mike and Jerry play in someone else's sandbox. I can't wait to see how this turns out.
Re: Japan Gets Super Street Fighter II with Online Play on VC
That is SO bogus. I love playing newer fighters on Xbox Live but man, I'd love to play the old ones against devious human opponents.
Re: Wii U's First Launch Title Announced Already
A reminder, because I hear this so often: It's pronounced "GUY-den", not "GAY-den."

Re: Get the Job You Always Wanted in Fantasy Life for 3DS
Level-5 and Brownie Brown just need to make ALL the video games from now on. Geez, I don't know how their stuff is so consistently amazing.

Solid lineup, I'm certainly happy with it. They're all games I would wind up buying anyway, so I'm stoked.
