Re: Rumour: Kid Icarus: Uprising to Miss 2011 in Europe

Sigh, just when you started to think maybe NoE was starting to sort out its shoddy release dates. They were doing well with Ocarina of Time and Black and White. This is disappointing, especially considering the fanfare that was made over this game at E3 2010. I was half expecting it to be out by now.

Re: Feature: Sonic: The Nintendo Years - Part One

Great feature! I think Sonic CD is a little overrated, as I personally find the stages to be a little to fragmented to be as enjoyable as their cartridge cousins, however the music is killer - I still have my original PAL copy for my Mega CD II!

I think the only game I haven't played on this list is Sonic Battle. If it's going cheap on eBay it might be a nice way to celebrate the blue blur's birthday.

Re: Regional eShops Will Continue to Offer Different Content

SoulSilverIV

When I watched the Nintendo E3 stream, the speakers specifically referenced us viewers watching around the world, via the web. The emphasis here being "around the world" - E3 isn't some unknown convention in some corner of the USA. It's a globally recognised event, so why should Nintendo of Europe keep such content from us?

Also, NoE, you need to sort out your exchange rates. $4 does not equal £3.60.

Re: Here's Your List of DS Games Due Out This Year

SoulSilverIV

I'm wondering if the title "Professor Layton and the Last Specter" will stick for the UK release, or whether they'll change it, like they did with Diabolical Box/Pandora's Box and Unwound Future/Lost Future. I'm pretty sure they'll stick with UK Luke though. I'd be incredibly upset if they switched to Luke's US voice actor.

Other than that (day one purchase for me) the only other DS game I'd be looking into getting would be Kirby: Mass Attack. Epic Yarn got me into Kirby, and I'm interested to see what else the pink blob has to offer.

Other than that, could those be my last ever new release DS purchases? I'm sure I'll pick up titles I've missed from the back catalogue, such as the Zelda games, but still, it is sad to see support finally starting to wind down for the old girl. Still, she had a marvellous run, having started out on day one with Super Mario 64 DS.

I love my DS.

Re: BIT.TRIP SAGA

@pixelman

FATE and VOID are much less rhythm-centric compared to RUNNER. I would at least give BEAT or FLUX a go at some point. ;D

This is what I'm going to buy a 3DS for.

Re: BIT.TRIP SAGA to Bring Entire Series to 3DS

@Square-enixFan

Each game in the BIT.TRIP series is stylistically designed in such a way that it features a mash-up of trippy retro and modern visuals, giving the games a really unique and somewhat fresh look. All the games have some sort of rhythm element to them, and the soundtracks are second to none - all are chiptune inspired and improve depending on your performance, and some of the tunes are just superb. Each game up to FLUX relies on a fundamentally different game mechanic, e.g. BEAT is a pong clone, RUNNER is a platformer, etc. In this way, there is something for everyone in this series. The games are also renowned for their notorious difficulty, and the developers even have a dedicated webpage to honour those who have managed to obtain perfect scores. And whilst they may appear simple on the surface, each game tells a story and is completely open to interpretation and speculation by the fanbase, with regards to Commander Video and his journey. Overall, the BIT.TRIP games are really top notch examples of what developers can do with simple concepts if they put their minds to it, and, in my opinion, are some of the finest games I've ever played.

@Kirk

The difference between mobile gaming and handheld gaming is that you simply cannot, by en large (spelling?), find the same deep gaming experiences on a mobile app store that you can in the DS library, for example (which I hope I will be able to extend to the 3DS library once it grows further). I mean sure, spending 99p or however much it costs to download Angry Birds or what have you is all well and good, but I don't honestly expect to get a deep gaming experience from a pocket money priced game like that. I agree with some of the reports saying that cheap apps that cost only £1 or even less are de-valuing other, full price games. People are more reluctant to spend £30 on a game, even though it likely provides far more than 30x the amount of enjoyment a cheap iPhone game does. Plus, considering this package would cost you 4200 Wii Points (£29.40 in hard cash) I think £30 is more than justifiable for a portable, 3D version. Considering CORE alone has taken up over 50 hours of my life, I would more than get my money's worth from this package. Besides, Gaijin are a really promising team IMO, and I personally feel like they deserve my money, as they have crafted something amazing here and as a result have my deep and utmost respect.

Re: BIT.TRIP SAGA to Bring Entire Series to 3DS

Hey, thanks for putting this up Zach!

I couldn't give two hoots about Harmonica of Time (credit to anyone who gets that reference), THIS is why I'm buying a 3DS.

Also, I demand to know why CORE was only scored a meagre 8/10. It deserves 11/10 in my opinion. Is it a bad thing that this is my second most played Wii game, with 50 hours on the clock (behind Mario Kart Wii, 55hrs)?

Re: Review: Conduit 2 (Wii)

SoulSilverIV

How odd. 5/10 yet this game seems to have gotten more positive reviews elsewhere. ONM in particular gave it over 80%.

I think I might just pick this up and form my own opinion of it, I enjoyed the original Conduit and hopefully this should be fun too.

Can anyone advise on how well the Wii headset works with this title, i.e. can I literally talk to anyone without needing to add them as friends?
