Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword Available for £24.99 in UK

SoulSilverIV

@James That's probably an accurate estimate actually. While I'm not saying there aren't nice people at Game, everyone in GameStation seems to express an interest in gaming, and enjoys chatting about games and the like. Some do in Game, however more often than not I just get marketing rubbish shoved down my throat. Plus I get real life Achievements for shopping at GameStation (OMG NO WAI)!

Go GameStation. I've generally found their staff to be nicer (although I've met some very friendly people at Game!!!) and I love the fact that they sell retro stuff.

Of course, I needn't worry since I got the game at launch for free by dressing up as Link. /endboasting

Re: Wii Celebrates Its Fifth Anniversary in Europe

SoulSilverIV

My parents bought one for my brother for Christmas... or at least that was the plan. They missed out on the launch since everything sold out so fast. Then they casually walked into an HMV on the 23rd and bam- Wii was in stock. What were the odds?

I didn't pick up my own Wii until a year later in Nov 07. Even then, trying to find a Wii was a marathon struggle as they were still selling out. Luckily Zavvi got some in stock with Super Mario Galaxy, which I was planning to buy to play on my brother's Wii in the meantime. Score.

Re: Nintendo Faces More Calls to Embrace Mobile

SoulSilverIV

But seriously, I would never buy a Mario or Zelda game on a touchscreen based smartphone. The lack of buttons kills the experience completely for me. I tried a Game Boy emulator with Super Mario Land on my Samsung Galaxy S II a few weeks ago. Couldn't even finish the first level.

Re: Super Famicom Reaches 21 Years Old Today

Never had a SNES. I was always a Sega fan myself, rocking Sonic the Hegehog, Toejam and Earl and Gunstar Heroes while all my mates stuck to Super Mario World and the likes. Whilst I don't regret a moment of it, I would like to pick up a SNES one of these days.

Re: Events: Eurogamer Expo 2011

Anyone know where I can find a guest list for this? I know Nolan North is going (Assassin's Creed, Halo 3: ODST) but sadly he's not going to be there on the only day I'm going.

Re: Review: BIT.TRIP SAGA (3DS)

SoulSilverIV

@11 Indeed. RUNNER stutters a bit on my computer, which is a 2.6GHz dual core i5 with a 310M nVidia graphics card, and that can cope with games like COD and Amnesia fine!

Now, excuse me whilst I go back to twidling my thumbs, waiting for a European release.

Re: Go First-Person in New Mario Kart 7 Trailer

SoulSilverIV

Glad to see the stunts from MK Wii are here to stay, although I don't exactly feel the same about the coins. They were an unnecessary pain in the bum in MK Super Circuit, and I'm glad that game gave you the option to turn them off during the Quick Race mode. I hope MK 7 will allow you to do the same.

Otherwise the graphics are looking great and the music sounds stellar as usual, however I did want to amputate my ears when listening to Daisy's constant cheering...

Re: Nintendo Europe Dropped London Life to "Avoid Delays"

SoulSilverIV

@XCWarrior

Personally I would have much rather had London Life over Xenoblade. Xenoblade, whilst looking like a good game, doesn't interest me since I'm not a particularly big fan of the genre, and London Life is part of a series I am a massive fan of. I would have much rather had the additional content in a game I will play than the game I will avoid.

@WhiteLayer

Yes, this is just a regular DS game, so there will be no region locking (thank goodness).

Re: Nintendo Europe Dropped London Life to "Avoid Delays"

SoulSilverIV

While it certainly makes sense for Nintendo to release this game before Christmas hits, I still couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that Nintendo chose to cut content, as I would have been more than happy to have waited for translation of the London Life minigame. Still, that American Luke isn't particularly appealing to me at the moment...

I think I'm more surprised that I received a reply though, considering I emailed them a couple of weeks ago when the stories first broke. Thanks for the response Nintendo! And cheers for sharing this James.

Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising Suffers Worldwide Delay

SoulSilverIV

Considering Professor Layton, Sonic Generations, Kirby Mass Attack, Super Mario 3D Land, Halo CE Anniversary, Kirby Wii and Mario Kart 7 are all coming out around this time, I'm somewhat glad this has been pushed back. Gives my bank a chance to recover.

Re: Analogue Stick Add-On for 3DS Revealed

SoulSilverIV

I hope this is just something that will be required (and hence bundled with) the new Monster Hunter. If it becomes standard, I can see a lot of people will be locked out of buying new games because they don't want to buy/know about the additional circle pad.

The other thing I don't particularly like about the attachment is the design. It looks like a horrible, cheap 3rd party peripheral. It needs to be much more in keeping with the 3DS design, i.e. glossy, layered plastics with less curving edges, and it needs to lose a lot of the bulk. Look, it more than doubles the thickness of the system! I'd rather not be carrying something the size of a Game Gear around (unless it's actually my Game Gear ).

Re: UK Retail Pegs 3DS for New £140 Price Point

SoulSilverIV

@PALgamer

This. Sometimes it is best to leave it up to the retailers. I love how the launch RRP was £229.99 but due to retailer competition you could pick up a 3DS for as little as £180 on launch day.

Got mine for £170 a few weeks back (before the announcement of the price drop), so whilst it would have been nice to save £30-£40 I'm pleased with the system, and I thought I got a good deal at the time anyway. Plus there's the whole Ambassador scheme with the free games.

I'm okay with this.jpg

Re: Iwata Writes Open Letter to 3DS Owners to Say Sorry

SoulSilverIV

I paid the price I was willing to pay for my 3DS.

Nintendo didn't have to do anything and I would have been happy (albeit a bit peeved). However, the Ambassador scheme, the salary cuts and this open letter are a sign in my opinion that Nintendo have gone beyond the call of duty, with regards to how other companies would perform in a similar situation.

It takes guts to put your hands up and say "we did it wrong", and Mr Iwata has my respect. Apology accepted. Now, carry on making awesome games. sits and waits for Mario Land and Mario Kart
