I think it’s fair, and I will be paying. Loling forward to playing N64 games in handheld.

The NES online was a curiosity, I replayed lots of my fave SNES games but mainly NSO was for the back up facility.

I’m happy to pay another £17.99 for all these , many hours of play/value!

If they did compilation game packs they would be more than that surely?

I got Metroid for my NES when I was 7 years old.. it was scary… exciting.. and brutally hard. I gave up!

I absolutely loved Super Metroid and have played from start to finish many times over the years.

This is amazing!

It’s brutally hard in places and I’ve resorted to guides a few times.. that said once you know the patterns a second play through will be a cake walk.

It never feels unfair tho I must have died 50 times on Kraid before I got the parry mastered.

I enjoy the game in order or exploration, EMMI encounters and bosses - this is good because that’s also the ratio of time spent on each one.

I usually hate stealth (the guards in Ocarina of Time were enough LOL) BUT actually it’s really exciting and supremely satisfying when you finish them!

Perhaps too hard in places for newcomers - maybe an easy mode or hints after so many deaths would help?

Will Prime 4 be a disappointment after this?

So.. is this being delivered via an emulator?

It used to be 80% hand held but I’ve developed drift and was forced into using the pro controller and an oled tv... you can’t seem to buy single joy cons anymore!

I have all of those, including duplicates of some but all I REALLY want is a proper toilet so I can take a... 200 hours and one has yet to appear....

So good to see Luigi’s Mansion 3 has done so well! Technically impressive and LOL fun!

The 100s of apps on my iPhone are organised into folders so all are accessible from one home screen... would be great to have games in folders on the switch home screen to save time... and a few themes?

@Galenmereth fair point, and bit of a disappointment! I really enjoyed ‘Let’s Go’ but I’m not going to bother with these two.. for now!

This is a little disappointing especially when you look at how well Luigi’s Mansion 3 looks and performs!

I’m absolutely in love with this! It looks and sounds beautiful, it’s really good fun, there’s so much variety and the challenge is there as the game progresses! An excellent evolution of the original game and concept!

Hope this success inspires other remakes.. not too many tho! It took me approx 20 hours even though I’d completed the OG many moons ago. Once I’d got used to the performance dips they stopped bothering me and I loved every minute of this game!

I thought drift was related to a build up of dirt/dust?

And it’s happening two days out of the box?

I’m not disputing drift is a thing, but I’ve not encountered it after two years of daily and often heavy use!

I think it’s amazing that Nintendo has continued to release software AND hardware for almost 40 years! The Switch is my favourite console ever!

Actually I remember street fighter 2 being £64.99 on release, which was a HUGE amount of money at the time!

Cars, houses etc cost a lot more than they did 25 years ago, games have got cheaper!

Performance issues aside, I’m loving this and after about 6 hours of play I have ‘adjusted’ to the frequent ‘issues’.

The graphics and sound are amazing and I’m sure I’ll play through again in the future.

It is expensive for what it is but it costs over £10 to see a film for a couple of hours these days...

I love the humour and the dungeons are some of the best in the series!

This brought me joy in 1993 (on my purple import SNES) and has brought me just as much joy since SNES Online appeared, I got 96 exits then and I’m gonna get em again! What did we do before online guides?!?!

@Galenmereth I agree! I as so excited for this and played the original (and the vast majority of games in the series) to death back in the day! I’m all for pushing a system but these issues are surprising considering it’s a 27 year old game underneath new graphics/sound.

I also find the depth of field effect to be too much, it’s either on or off... it doesn’t blend together. Wish you could turn this off and just see a sharp image!

I know it’s a short game so was hoping it would be perfect while it lasted.

@GamingDude800 fair point! I have a basic understanding of resolution and fps but I couldn’t identify either from watching a short video. All I know is that these issues happen lots and really spoil the experience for me ((

I only noticed the performance issues in BOTW in the forest... these frame rate issues are obvious and frequent... hope they can be resolved soon as loving my revisit to the Island. A ‘Switch PRO’ ASAP please Nintendo!

While I was instantly resistant to this version of the switch, I play on my og one in handheld mode 95% of the time and can’t remember the last time I detached the joycons...

Just got the starter pack for £9.99.... amazing value! It’s huge, it’s fun (repetitive so best played in chunks of a few hours here and there!) and it’s got Fox in! What’s not to like?!

What about Xevious, Solstice, Solar Jetman... or Snake Rattle N Roll?!

Those games were TOUGH!

@SilentHunter382 I was really surprised, and it’s just bad design, I’d been very careful too because I was already aware of the issue. I get that it’s not the same screen as a £1000 iPhone (mine also has a protector) but still.. why not line the dock with felt? As many have done themselves!

I am VERY careful with my kit so I was disappointed that within a few days of owning my Switch there were scuffs around the screen from the dock. Slapped a screen protector on (which I should have done anyway) and it’s been fine since! No drift in 2 years tho.. prob just jinxed myself! I was forever blowing in my NES carts tho... (foolishly)

@Tempestryke absolutely, a modern system and maybe updated graphics and sound... the ‘rewind’ feature got me thru SMB2 and Lost Levels... Zelda II needs a little more!

Just paid 9.99 GBP for the starter set and pleasantly surprised! Excellent presentation and integration of the Starfox universe... a couple of hours in and enjoying the story! I could imagine gameplay will get repetitive (fight in space, explore planet, fight on planet, collect stuff, upgrade ship/weapons - repeat) but DEFO worth 10 of the Queen’s finest and a few hours of your time!

Maybe with some tweaking... like when SMB2 was ported to the GBA... would be interesting to see how the 2D/over-world sections were remodelled? I remembering borrowing this when I was about 8yo and finding it incredibly and frustratingly difficult! Tried recently on NSO and felt the same!

@Yosher I seem to have an enormous gap between ‘original fun ideas’ and ‘how to build them’ some of these courses are truly inspiring!

I’m all for a challenge but this was just too difficult.. frustrating in fact! It’s the only Switch title I’ve bought that I regret! I’ve enjoyed several indie titles but this was not for me... such a shame!

I understand the concern/criticism..

BUT remember all the negativity towards the Switch before release... and look at it now!

Im curiously optimistic...

£20 for backups is good value considering the hours I’ve invested in several of the ‘big’ games... I view the NES stuff as a bonus... hope the SNES is added this year!

I’m gutted... I don’t want a poor game but a ‘few years’? I love my Switch but sounds like the next Metroid game could miss it altogether?

@gokev13 would more than one system per family generate much revenue after the saw of the system; sharing games already purchased with multiple users etc? I think they should keep the current one and release a ‘Pro’ with a 1080p edge to edge screen and drop the price of the ‘old’ one!

@gokev13 I guess, it just won’t be a ‘switch’ anymore! It seems kinda reductive? But if it prolongs the life and increases the install base... I guess that’s a good thing!

Surely a ‘Switch Lite’ as depicted by mock ups robs the system of its two USPs: the joycons and the dock?!

@johnvboy despite my protests about the pricing... I think I may have succumbed by the end of the evening... double gold points and my gold points from last few months = just within what I said I’d spend! Will be taking the switch to bed tonight lol

@johnvboy thanks for that... that’s the top end of what I’d be willing to pay for such an old game.. I’ll be interested to see what the reviews are like when they start coming thru... I must admit, I’m all for digital because it means less to cart around, but also the most expensive way to purchase apart from the random eshop sales... I spent over 100 hours on BOTW, Odessy, Smash Ultimate.. I don’t mind paying the £50/60 for that much content but the ‘challenges’ on this just look frustrating. I’m sure I’ll end up buying it at some point, I just don’t feel it has the WOW factor to justify the cost!

So a Switch Lite would remove the two USPs that make the Switch special - ability to dock and the joy cons... this seems pointless and reductive!

I’d like to see a Switch Pro with larger screen, 1080p and better battery life but same dimensions so joycons and accessories are compatible!

The original switch should remind in production but reduced in price.

I cannot justify £50 for an essentially 7 year old game that my tv could upscale anyway... I love the opportunities to try quality games from the failed Wii U platform but it’s too Xxpen5ive... £30-£40 is top end... I’m sure it will end up being reduced in the future!
