I’m starting my 4yr old off with Skyward Sword HD. We can basically co-op by sharing two joy cons and he can pass his off to me when the going gets too tough. Can’t really think a better way to start him on his journey of Zelda fandom.
I loved this game. I played this at a young age and is one of the reasons I fell in love with JRPGs, due it it's excellent tactics and music. The dragons made the game epic and the bosses were so much fun to beat. I would love to play an official translation because the story was top notch. Please surprise us Square-Enix!
@mullen That would represent a purchase decision breaker for me. A corrupt SD card would be incredibly tragic for Pokemon if a backup is restricted, but it would make sense for Nintendo to enforce that. I was in the Middle East for two years recently so I know how inconvenient the region locking is, and how tempting digital downloading is. Fire Emblem was worth it, but I'm not sure about taking the risk for Pokemon X/Y.
@mullen I understand your skepticism, but I have on many occasions made several backups of my SD card (for instance Fire Emblem Awakening), and the 3DS simply loads the data as a snapshot in time. I never backed up just the save file, I just backed up the entire SD card. The only way Nintendo could enforce their save data restrictions is by keeping track of save files on the 3DS itself. Maybe Animal Crossing does this, in which case my hopes have been dashed.
Finally, a pokemon release which is not tethered to the game card! Now I can finally manage multiple pokemon saves via SD card backup! Too bad the price will never ever drop for the digital release though.
I hardly think it's reasonable for Nintendo to even set an internal release date so far away. They will be sure to reevaluate the market and their development during the holiday season. Then we could see it even sooner. I'm sure they would have loved to release it a few months ago if they had the chance.
We should be done with Wii. The Wii U virtual console is moving at a much slower pace than the Wii, and that is considering that most Wii U Virtual Console games have already been released for Wii. Sigh.
The timing for the save data backup is impeccable. I just spent hours last week researching and experimenting with how to merge two of my full 3DS SD cards into a 3rd bigger SD card, and miraculously was able to recover and transfer all of my save data. This certainly took some risk, considering I had over 50 games to merge. This feature would have saved me a lot of peace of mind, since it is much easier to locate and transfer save files in the updated file system. Now I am more comfortable using digital nintendo products, now that I can be more assured my progress will not vanish so easily.
Keep em coming Japan. As an early adopting ambassador, I'm glad to see the quality and quantity of games churning out at such a good and consistent pace.
This looks to be the 3D sonic game we have all been waiting for since Sonic Heroes....and that was exactly 10 years ago. I should start playing Sonic Colors sometime soon to get warmed up!
Sonic Lost World was the most interesting and innovative piece of software for me this E3. Mario Kart 8 is a close second, one reason being my personal fascination for Mobius strips.
This strategy sounds risky. It is common for title sales to reduce over time. Increasing the price will simply put off late adopters even more, essentially bricking sales once the increases start. Instead, the game will be purchased by the naturally early adopters, as well as late adopters, but at a reduced price. Good luck with the business decision. I probably won't be an early adopter, but would consider it if it went on sale within one year, and most definitely not if it is more expensive. Sorry.
No one who knows the excellence of the GBA titles would want them again on their Wii U over their 3DS. Anyone who doesn't know the excellence of GBA titles at all will not get them for their Wii U. That's just a sad situation .
Honestly, this is downright offensive given the context that the pranksters are seemingly pulling this off because of the Boston marathon shooting. I guarantee anyone involved would not appreciate this as a prank this soon after the incident. Last week would have been a much different story. It's unfortunately not a laughing matter.
I'm surprised they didn't swap over to blonde Link for this one. I mean, they made an obvious hint when they bundled the blonde Link's into the Four Swords, and incorporated blonde Link's voice FX into the GBA Link to the Past. Interesting move.
Although a car alternator can probably handle it, the 75 W specs used by the Wii U system probably cannot be very good for the car battery, especially if the car is only idling. But heck, it still looks like a sweet deal to me!
As long as they make a full fledged HD F-Zero (with wifi!) for Wii U, my F-Zero life will be fulfilled. An F-Zero rendition would be nice. A port of F-Zero could definitely suffice.
I check the score first to give me context on the character of the game and character of the reviewer. Extreme or moderate scores add a lot of context to what to expect from the text, and prepare me to agree or discredit what they may have to say.
That projection sounds really healthy for Nintendo, considering how the Wii sales were through the roof. It will be an excellent console with good first party support, which is what matters. That will satisfy Nintendo and the fans.
I considering laying down some cash for the DLC, up until I realized that I can get the majority of the extra characters via SpotPass. The later DLC looks much more interesting than those that are available now, and the only draw for me would be the items and abilities. I can just watch youtube to get the sidestories.
Honestly I'm starting to think that developers are thinking and acting like children who are afraid of life being unfair or risky. The Wii U is essentially a no brainer for supporting the PGA franchise. It would be a better if not equivalent experience compared to 360and PS3, and good games will sell!
Other than the save game data being lost, Nintendo has essentially given this gamer $200 for new games, which seems like a great deal to me. Sure, maybe I would want to own and replay some of the many lost titles, but I wouldn't even want to redownload all $400 worth of games, some of which I wouldn't ever need to pick up again. Now this gamer has a choice to get anything in the Wii U store, which will eventually retain many of the Virtual Console games that may have been lost. It still does suck though. But, I kinda wish I was the one who had made that "mistake".
For me it's not a matter of buying Rayman Legends. What I still need is incentive to buy my (eventual) Wii U. Was planning on a summer purchase, but now I'm not so sure.
Day 1 DLC comes courtesy of the already released Japanese content which means they are already (for the most part) developed. So, it makes sense that they should be readily available day 1. The initial pack being free is at least a nice gesture.
That's it then. Nintendo should have launched Wii U in January so that all of the REAL launch titles would come out without this current two month delay Nintendo is currently dealing with while publishing ther next batch of games. Rayman Lefends was supposed to be the system seller for me when I got my next paycheck. Now I might as well wait. Nintendo is not going to bode half as well, and for what? The chance for Ubisoft to hype up their multiplatform game that would sell just as much if they didn't wait? 6 months is an incredible length of time of lost 1st wave Wii U sales!
Bummer. It seems our industry is more cut throat than we'd like to think it is. Too bad, since the Epic Mickey franchise is one of the most interesting Disney IPs ever since Kingdom Hearts first came out.
I hope they don't mess with the controls. I found WW to have one of the best control schemes ever, in fluidity and satisfaction during fights. Not to mention proper dual analog sticks which WW was already designed for with the GC controller.
Not going to lie. This title already had kick butt controls, in addition to actually being designed for dual analog sticks, it's a perfect fit! Sounds like a great project for Nintendo to get there hands dirty in HD while they learn how to really make their games look great. This is a great filler. It's a shame I've literally completed every inch of detail and quests already...full photo gallery and everything!
I've been waiting desperately for this game ever since Pokemon Colosseum and XD! Finally, a proper 3D pokemon RPG! Can't wait to try it out, even if the new pokemon are iffy. The old ones will be there too!
If you can retail download Wii U games (which are indeed massive in size), there is literally no legitimate excuse not to publish the GC on Virtual Console. Too bad I already have pretty much every GC game already! Being patient isn't that big of a deal for me.
If someone bought a WiiU and only one game now, I guarantee they will be buying more in the future. Otherwise there would have been no motivation to buy the console to begin with. It may take me a whole year to fully save up for just the launch titles that I still want to get, but Nintendo will still get my money in the long run.
Maybe the Wii mini will break ground into new markets, where wifi is not commonly available. There's still a big big world that could benefit from a budget price streamlined Wii console.
That retail download list is insane. For the delayed releases on Xbox live and PSN, I didn't know if there was something fundamentally wrong wit te concept. Nintendo must sure not think so!
The Wii U is the best thing that Sony could hope in the near future. Wii U will ensure third party multiplatform games will continue to feed the aging PS3. The PS3 price is right for many people, and will provide a well worth investment in the coming years since the PS4 isn't coming out right away. Sony doesn't need a PS4 right away, Thanks to the Wii U breathing fresh air into the industry, Nintendo deserves nothing less than a Thank You from its competitors.
The internal Wii hardware chipset is completely separate from the Wii U display system chipset. It would have been nice for the display output for TV and Gamepad to be used interchangeably, but I guess they couldn't perform a crossover between Wii and Wii U systems to get it done. It's probably saving them money, and no harm done.
I'm probably the only one on Earth who has purposefully been holding out on Mass Effect 3 for my 360 so I can play it on my new Wii U instead. So no complaining here.
That Sun article was properly absurd. People reading the article are more likely to be interested in the Wii U due to it's deplorable credibility, as each of it's "facts" are backwards.
Cost is perfect: PS4 & XBOX720 will be incredibly more expensive and outside the market. Sony and Microsoft will be thanking Nintendo for keeping this generation alive for an extra few years. It's in their best interest to take their time developing the next gen technology. Nintendo won't put them out of business, and will give 3rd parties incentives to keep chugging out current gen games without complaining of a stale market. The Wii U is fresh!
