Re: Talking Point: The Importance of the Wii U Press Event

Silvervisiona

Not sure if it occurs to anyone, but I think Nintendo is purposefully holding back on the Wii U as a marketing strategy . They said several years ago how it was a mistake to publicize and market the Wii like crazy, only to have people mad and frustrated at not being able to find the console in stores for over a year! I think they are afraid of not meeting the demand this time around. To me, this is an obvious mistake. Nintendo NEEDS to build hype for this machine! They will NOT have the problem of shortage this time around. It just won't happen.

Re: Capcom: The Next Gen Doesn't Start With Wii U

Silvervisiona

Looks like the Wii U will fit in between generations just fine, straddling the benefits of both. It's going to be several years before next gen anyway. Wii U is attractive for the pure concept that it is new, so even my xbox 360 will take second place just because it's getting stale, not because it's inferior. By the time the next generation arrives, the Wii U will mop up sales for it's less expensive value, much like the Wii did. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo releases the true next gen successor to the Wii U shortly after Microsoft and Sony deliver.

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About a Year of the 3DS eShop

Silvervisiona

I would like it if the Wii U and 3DS eShops could share purchases through the same account, for suitable VC titles. I'll be twice as likely to buy if I know I can play my same purchased title on both the 3DS and Wii U. Please let me play my Ambassador titles on the TV!!

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th June 2012 (North America)

Getting the Megaman X series for Wii VC seems uncomfortably redundant to me. I've got Megaman X1-6 in the MMX Collection for GCN and that suits me just as well if not better, as it is still fully compatible for Wii. It's not like your virtual console is going to contribute any pros greater than the MMX collection unless you have a fetish for digital only content.

Re: Zelda Remakes Still Part of Nintendo's Quest

Silvervisiona

Since Nintendo hasn't decided yet, it will still be a long time before we get to see anything. I think they should do a brand new top-down Zelda, followed by a remake of MM. Or, do a 3D remake of Link to the Past, followed by a brand new 3D Zelda!

Re: E3 2012: Our View of Nintendo's E3

Silvervisiona

I'm still a bit stunned at Nintendo's E3 strategy, which only resulted in good in my mind because I have been forced to change my typical expectations. Nintendo showed off some great games, and I am honestly impressed how successfully they are pulling the Wii U launch together with only a few months to go.

However, I am stunned at how we have literally zero information or official announcements on any titles outside the launch window. This is the first time I have ever seen this happen at a Nintendo E3. Every company always shows off the newest title and IP way ahead of time. Heck, almost half of 2011 Nintendo E3 was for games of this year. In 2012 they showed nothing beyond one year. This is severely disappointing to fans, and surely investors. It's a little disconcerting to not know what will be coming out after launch. What third party support will the Wii actually have? What will I have to look forward to after I get the stellar games they showed this year? Why not use E3 the way it is set up for, publicity?

Due to the legitimately good titles shown this year, Nintendo won it's own E3, but not the E3 that I am accustomed to.

Re: E3 2012: Nintendo's 3DS Software Showcase Live

Silvervisiona

I'm not disappointed in the games. On the contrary, the games shown at this E3 seemed exceptionally interesting to me. What tanked was the presentations, and the missed opportunities to capitalize on the E3 hype. This is the first year where Nintendo legitimately revealed information ONLY on games for this fiscal year. Every E3 I've been to has been filled with future titles that are well over 1 year in advance. I think we can all agree the reason we are all upset is because they gave us nothing beyond this year. What's worse, by next E3, all the titles for next year will be leaked/revealed throughout the year such that next E3 will have nothing new either. This is pointless! Use E3 to reveal, and spend the rest of the year releasing. Don't waste our time giving us details we could happily find out throughout the year.

Again, it was good to learn of the features for all the Wii U and 3DS titles we already knew about, but I'd prefer to hear about those outside of E3. Now I have nothing to look forward to during the year...except for a price and release date. Whoopdeedoo.

Re: Talking Point: Should Zelda Go Episodic?

Silvervisiona

It's starting to feel like Mario is already doing it. Instead of focusing on Mario and Zelda, Nintendo needs to just keep all of it's franchises alive, not overemphasizing any. It's great to hear Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion 2 is coming. They did a good job with Kirby the past 5 years, and it was good to have Donkey Kong Returns and Kid Icarus keep the pot churning. It was sad to see Zelda games only at the tail beginning and end of the Wii cycle, but the DS/3DS came up with some great titles in the meantime, not to mention the next Zelda 3DS sounds to be fresh as well. But what I really want is: F-ZERO!

Re: Talking Point: The Critical Importance of Black Ops 2

Silvervisiona

Nintendo needs to win back the core gamers it lost from the gamecube era. There are plenty of xbox and ps3 owners that are dying to own a hardcore nintendo product, and are simply waiting for it to show up. I for one love nintendo, but I have yet to buy a wii because there simply was no point. I've been waiting for a nintendo console that can provide the full gaming experience, and not a limited one. I'm going to buy the Wii U, and collect the few Wii gems that fortunately do exist, and live in delayed but inevitable fulfillment of being a nintendo fan. Wii U needs to bring in EVERY top seller to secure its dominance. I WANT the Wii U to secure its dominance! No Cod means the Wii U is not embracing the market that it needs to provide for.

Re: 'Majority' of Nintendo Games to be Released Digitally

Silvervisiona

This article made it sound disappointing that only a "majority" of games will be downloadable alongside their respective game cards or discs. I think any support of any day one downloads is a great leap forward for Nintendo. It has never been in Nintendo's character to transition with extremes, such as allowing 100% of their packaged software to be digitally available. It is well known that Microsoft emphatically avoids doing so for at least 6 months after release of its xbox games in order to maintain the physical media market. Selling codes in stores is a great solution to this conundrum!
