@G_and_Thomas 100% I absolutely love my physical collection and one of the best things Nintendo did in this dept. Was Super Mario 3-D All-Stars Switch (IMO) I was absolutely elated to get into Mario Galaxy on the Switch and it would be great to pull an "NES Collection" off the Shelf same as a "SNES Collection" & "Gamecube Collection" and so on. I think gamers around the world have proven they will definitely pay for a game over and over again on newer hardware because no matter how many great current gen games get made, we all love to jump into an old favorite with ease.
@Jack_Goetz They'd pick up the gamers who aren't willingly to subscribe monthly. I personally don't think they'd lose that many subscribers, XBox Game Pass doesn't lose subscribers simply because they can just purchase those games.
Absolutely amazing that you write the article but provide NO link to the application site, it's amost as though Nintendo Life should get themselves a credible journalist.
@nhSnork it's called "in camera" the part of the meeting where they're allowed to stop recordings and transcriptions and kick everyone not associated, out of the room.
@marcelominucelli Exactly!!! I was just having this conversation with my son last night, what more could Nintendo offer right now with hardware? Their constant theme has been introducing new ways to play with each generation and frankly, I think that Nintendo fans would rather remasters of their old favorites as well as new entries into series they're passionate about playing. With the OLED there's not much benefit to another gen console given the nature of Nintendo artwork.
I can't believe how many people are over the moon about a $20 discount which in all reality is simply Nintendo making you believe you're getting something special when in all actuality you're guaranteeing them that you're spending more money on a product that has absolutely no resale or collective value.
@Chocobo_Shepherd Ohhh man, this is EXACTLY what I have been saying since Xbox One/PS4 started really pushing the digital market.
I can't understand how people pass up the resale value of these things. I do have digital games, but I never spend more than $10 on a digital release because that's money I can never see a return on when I'm done with it, nor can I get the money back if the game is garbage.
@jamesthemagi Absolutely, I shelled out for the physical (Switch) when it released because, why not? Yes, I have the cartridges for my Master System, and I've played them on my modded XBox and even on the Wii.
But to have this collection on my portable device was worth every penny I paid for it.
@Bunkerneath Agreed!!!! It's getting REALLY discouraging as a gamer who prides their physical collection that all the great games being released again are coming digitally (Can't even express how sad I am over the Portal Companion Collection only being digital). I was super stoked for the Cowabunga Collection and purchased that on release, Just picked up Shredder's Revenge the other day and was pleasantly surprised to find an artwork booklet and stickers in the case.
@Goofonzo Not everyone is a entitled dolt, some people enjoy this type of content, and that's made obvious by the fact that the company can afford to continue doing business. Soooo, if you don't want free games, then march yourself off off to GameStop
@Sisilly_G I finally come across a fellow 1 cartridge person!!!
I can't stand when they bake multiple games on to one cartridge, makes me feel like I'm missing cases on my shelf and artwork on the fronts.
(Same goes for those frickin download code in box titles, very irritating).
Don't even get me started on how much I miss instruction booklets and inserts.
While I was excited about the Cowabunga collection, I would have 100% paid for each individual game.in it's own case and cartridge.
Looking at The Cube, Death's Door, River City Girls, Frogun, New Joe & Mac, Adventure Academia, Witch on the Holy Night.
@MrGrim Maybe I'm getting old, but that still sounds a little high to me (roughly $45 CAD) when you consider other retro arcade titles here go for about $8 Digital
@MrGawain I agree fully, while I download every single game that comes free on xbox live each month, I don't really play them. I just make sure that I get my money's worth and if I do decide one day to load them up, I won't have to buy them.
The thing I enjoy the most about NOS is that, there's a family membership for like $50cad for the year, all 4 consoles in my home are online for that price, and so are my Nieces in Alberta.
Xbox got rid of their family pass years ago and I despise having to pay for 4 subscriptions now.
My only criticism of NOS is that they're not consistent with new releases, more over, I'd love to see games available from N64 and GC and O would also love some Wii games like Mario Galaxy to make their way for purchase. This console os everything that Gameboy should have evolved into 10 years ago.
