The Saturn version is clearly better, it has Zombie Wesker in the battle mode.
OK, maybe not 'better' with its blocky graphics and lengthy load times, but worth checking out for fans of the series.
I like the gamecube remake but it does lose some of the B-movie cheese appeal of the original game, looks amazing though and action replay lets you play as Rebecca.
@madgear - but the PAL Gamecube version is 50Hz (I think, if I remember right!). The Dreamcast also uses the visual memory to show you your health and how many shots you have left, nice extras so... Dreamcast for me! Either way though, Resident Evil 2 is a great game, however you play it.
Hard to get excited when I can play all but one of these games on the X-box 'Capcom Classics Collection' disc along 17 other games (which cost me about £5.00).
Black Dragon looks good though, never played that one so will get it.
To be honest, I'd prefer SEGA stepping up their arcade support as their arcade compilation discs were previously limited to a few familiar games and not so widely available on modern consoles.
@outrun2sp - hopefully it would be available to play in 60Hz mode as a disc release, I'd assume so, but then look at Animal Crossing on the PAL Gamecube...
I just want arcade Super Hang-On, I dont bother with any 50Hz VC stuff and a lot of these Capcom Games are already available on compilation discs. Having said that, if they put Final Fight and Strider on VC arcade I would most likely download both...
@James, yep, I also like Burning Rangers and Nights... I got Sonic with the Megadrive back in 1991, still have my original cart and a (modded) megadrive hooked up to the TV! Its not quite Sonic 2's-day, but I'll be downloading this as soon as its available - I just hope it shouts 'SEGA' at the start.
It's a long time since I downloaded any new releases. Many Wiiware games are just gimmicky and the 50Hz VC games dont appeal much either. Have instead gone back to buying actual retro games and will be most likley waiting to see if Super Hang On arcade shows up...
I shall also avoid this due to 50Hz presentation. After they falsely advertised Iron Clad as 60Hz & I downloaded it - wont waste anymore money on Neo titles.
Nah, C64 'V.s Space Mutants' must be worst - impossible jumps on level 2 and cassette multi load (5 minute wait before you could restart level 1). Best thing about that game was it came with a 'free' badge. 'Camp Deadly' was still bad though...
@outrun2sp in terms of arcade racers with hidden depths I think you're right there, this and OutRun 2 are two of the best. Also, SEGA Rally - awsome game.
Should add that though I was once great at this game, my own 'hardcore' tolerance has slipped somewhat, these days its 1986 Outrun on the Saturn, time and traffic set to easy and a sedate drive down memory lane.
I liked the King of Kong but it was working a specific angle to make this guy into a pantomime villain... Adds to the narrative drama I guess. Impressive game skills though, no question.
@prosody - I remember MDK2 demo in HMV when dreamcast first came out, striking looking game. Also, not easy to find a copy these days. Nice news, I wonder if Rez would fit on WiiWare...
Its as if they are trying to fit the games around the technology. Also, what about people who aren't able to leap about to play games? Much of Wii's commercial success is due to it's relative 'simplicity', not in spite of it.
@Bass - I know, just drawing attention to the original classic Galton and Simpson were such great writers afterall. I cant afford many new games anyway - if I really want something, I have to trade in.
How is this region lock wise? Nice idea, though nothing beats a (modded to 60Hz if you are a PAL person) original console. I saw a review of a cheap Megadrive clone available in the UK and its was really messed up - 50Hz, didnt even support the six button controller on SF2, even though it came with them!
This game looks pretty amazing, seems to have more ideas in every single clip than most platformers manage in an entire game. Makes you wonder where Nintedo can take Mario in the future...
Er, I saw a good few monster hunter ads on TV here in the UK (I dont even watch much TV), and Game were really pushing it in store on Oxford St. Many Videos on the Nintendo Channel too. Sin and Punishment is a truly outstanding video game and you can tell it was developed by Treasure, but I realise a lot of people just wont understand the appeal.
Sin and Punishment would never top the charts, thats hardly a measure of quality though. For some unknown reason (!?), great numbers of people often buy crappy games. I'm not giving up on the Wii yet though, as long as interesting games get made, the informed gamer can be selective.
I bought both on their release date, had to 'hunt' to find Sin and Punishment in HMV. Both games are also excellent, but they would never appeal to everyday folk in the way Wii sports would.
Indeed. Judging from their response to my complaint, Nintendo accept no responsibility for the content of 3rd party VC games or the false description of '60Hz' (but not really) import releases on their own shop channel. Which I think rather sucks.
Hmm, any word on Cave Story, that looked fun. After playing Blaster Master I'd like the Wii Ware version too. Maybe Indy. Earthworm Jim, great - if I had a DSi!
No worries, I shan't be fobbed off. Wrote them another nice email reproducing the 50/60Hz quote from the retail disc release instruction manuals (used to start your article) and added that I therefore downloaded this game under specifically false information. Cant see how they can dodge responsibility really...
They are now 'investigating' regarding my IronClad complaint. I also pointed out the Megadrive issue and gave my general opinion about the 50Hz situation... I'll post what I find out.
Well, finally got my last ninja 3 refund code (with many thanks to the efforts of Betagam7 in getting them to admit the game was, in fact, broken). This was only after contacting Commodore gaming three times over the period since it was removed. Neither Nintendo or Commodore gaming made any initial contact with me about the purchase, so thanks also to Nintendo life for posting the info.
Still waiting a response from Nintendo regarding the IronClad 50HZ issue...
I agree Stuffgamer1, also Betagam7 is quite right in suggesting that those who downloaded Megadrive imports at extra cost under the impression they run in 60HZ should complain. Who knows where the decision to supply 50HZ games was made, but I'd bet there weren't any retro gamers on the committee.
Yes, that was about three weeks ago... Well, sent those emails off so lets see. I imagine at the moment the most they will do is remove the 'runs in 60HZ' from the import Megadrive games but surely Nintendo don't intend to keep non-optimised 50HZ alive forever!?
Yep, I've chased up Commodore gaming who claimed the were waiting to buy the points from Nintendo...hmm. I'll contact them and Nintendo about the relevant IronClad issue and as you say, if they keep stalling contact trading standards.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Races to WiiWare on October 11th
@James, I'm also really hoping this will be great - The Megadrive original is one of my favourite ever games, along with OutRun.
Re: Samurai Shodown III
Yes, the 50Hz issue is a PAL 'exclusive' - cheers, Nintendo. The Worst the US gets is weirdly sped up 60Hz Commodore 64 games.
Re: Jam City Rollergirls Press Release Wants You to Sit Up and Take Notice
Having watched Roller Derby a few times in London, I've never thought to myself - this would make a great video game. Still, it could work, maybe...

Re: Samurai Shodown III
It is a real shame that the Neo is 50Hz on the VC.
Needlessly compressed with boarders and slow gameplay, I'm not paying money for that.
Re: Brace for Impact as Fatal Fury 3 Smacks Up Europe this Week
I shall also avoid this due to 50Hz presentation. After they falsely advertised Iron Clad as 60Hz & I downloaded it - wont waste anymore money on Neo titles.

Re: Review: Parodius: Non-Sense Fantasy (Super Nintendo)
Sexy Parodius and Gokujyo Parodius are such great games, I have the Saturn versions.
Re: Bart Simpson's Escape from Camp Deadly
Was it that bad? I remember borrowing it at the time and I think my C64 'Vs. the Space Mutants' was worst...
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan
The memories, another early 90s gameboy game I played for hours on end instead of doing my home work...

I Just played this on the Saturn pack, its good, but later sequel Sexy Parodius is better.
Re: Review: Giana Sisters DS (DS)
This is rare in the UK, I've never seen a copy.
Re: Batman: The Video Game
Excellent early gameboy game (which I played when it was new!) - must find a copy to play on my GBA
Re: Ignition Gets a New Spark as it Aims for Download Dominance
Ignition didnt distribute King of Fighters Saga or Samurai Showdown for Wii in the UK. Most annoying!

Re: Iwata: 3DS Games May Cost as Much as Wii Titles
Dont you mean 'Steptoe and Son'..? DS and Wii pretty much cost the same already in the UK, new is normally somewhere between £30-£40.
Re: Strap On Your Headset for Conduit 2
The first game got old pretty quick with its samey corridors - I'm also holding more hope for Goldeneye and a decent single player game...
Re: Scott Pilgrim Movie Features Zelda Music, Gets Miyamoto's Thumbs-Up
More interested in the last volume - oddly uninterested in the film...
Re: E3 2010: 3DS Could be Region-Locked
If DS was locked I couldn't play Ouendan, Contra 4 or Jump Ultimate stars - Don't do it Nintendo!
Re: E3 2010: Ocarina of Time for 3DS
I now know the next console I intend to buy... Time to start saving!

Re: First Sonic Colours Details Emerge
I also though the Black Knight was an decent game, certainly preferred it to Secret Rings and Unleashed.
Re: Gawp at these First Ever Screenshots of Sonic the Hedgehog
Hmm, mountains look more like Marble Zone... I remember that sonic was originally going to leap into the air at the end of each act.
Re: Sony Doesn't Want Failed Wii Games on Move, Thank You Very Much
Wot a rip off, thats all I can see here.
Re: Review: BIT.TRIP RUNNER (WiiWare)
Though it's fun (and frustrating), I think 10 is a bit much - the excellent Sin and Punishment only got a 9 and I liked it way better than this game.
Re: Nintendo "Happy with Virtual Console Pricing"
@outrun2sp Yep, and although the anthology version is 60Hz it is not classic controller compatible.
Weirdly, the version of Metal Slug on 'SNK classics collection' is both 60Hz and classic controller compatible.
I bet Nintendo are happy, but I'm not with their consistent failure to aknowledge the 50Hz issue or do anything about it.

Treasure are great and I also like the review.
