Alright, thanks guys. I had always wanted to play this Zelda but never got a chance.. so this should be great. Unfortunately, I probably won't have anyone to play with since the only friend I know with a 3DS works terrible hours.
As a owner of only a Wii U ATM, I was highly considering buying this game around release and paying full price. I wasn't very interested at first, but it does look pretty cool. It's disappointing to lose any game that people have been looking forward to for quite some time. That being said, I don't think this will get cancelled.. they've poured too much money into it just to cut it.
@linktothepichu I'm just saying that if people who own the Wii U were to choose one over the other, they'd probably go with SSB Wii U. Maybe not though, who am I to guess what others will do. I own a 3DS and a Wii U, but I'll probably only pick up the Wii U version, at least that's how I feel right now. That could change.
@ULTRA-64 Except there are plenty of people who are "saying" they will get a Wii U specifically for SSB when it comes out. They could be blowin smoke though, saying something doesn't mean they'll actually do it. I do agree though, the 3DS could potentially eat up a lot of SSB Wii U Sales. Anyone who already owns a Wii U will probably buy it for that system though. I don't see why anyone would choose it over 3DS, aside from portability..
@Nintenjoe64 I agree, I think they should just give the team the money they were asking for in a Kickstarter and tell them that it's a Nintendo Exclusive. Forget the chapter release stuff, too, make it a full retail game.
People are assuming that there won't be a story mode because he said "there won't be a story mode LIKE The Subspace Emissary.." To me this says that he's listening to people that were complaining about it and putting some other kind of single-player campaign in. Honestly, I wish they'd just go with one similar to the N64 version. That's all I want. There should be at least some sort of single-player mode.
@majorgamer It's an amazing game. I'm playing through it again right now. You're completely right about the story. I was thinking last night as I was playing it that they could make a decent movie out of it if done right. I'm not really a story person when it comes to games, but this is definitely the exception. It just feels original even if it has some cliches. Plus they manage to make you like and care about all the characters, at least for me.
@Nintenjoe64 That penny thing had me stuck too.. I haven't played the game for years and that "box" had me running all over looking for a particular item for about 15 minutes.. I then looked at my backpack and had an Ah-HA! moment.
@ChessboardMan Eternal Darkness is my favorite Gamecube title and I love the Gamecube. I actually just rebought one a couple weeks ago and have been playing Eternal Darkness the last week, it's still just as good as I remember. It's a classic survival horror with a cool combat system as far as the spell casting goes, even the melee is more unique than the earliar RE games, which I love as well. I don't think the game is awesome because of the insanity effects, it's awesome because of the story, it's eerie atmosphere that it does so well, and the fact that it's one of the best survival horrors that there is. It's a must-play for any survival horror fan.
Now on topic. I don't think this will effect a sequel or an HD remake of the game. That's all I really care about from this company and Nintendo has the rights to that IP. It does suck for them, though they probably shouldn't have tried to sue in the first place.
I wonder what they're working on right now. I really hope it's a Wii U title. Can't wait to hear what they have in store, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon was one of the best 3DS titles of 2013.
Donkey Kong x Metroid. The most unlikely duo of Nintendo characters team up to save the universe in a glorious 2D/3D adventure...
Anyyyways, it'd be cool to see what Retro could do with a 3D Donkey Kong, but I'd much rather see DK get a rest for a while before they start that venture. That being said though, I really like the DK games, returns being my favorite. I have DK:TF pre-ordered and can't wait to play it. I'd just like to see Retro work on a different franchise, be it Metroid or not.
I was interested in this game, yet skeptical. I know how bad the last one was, but this actually looks much better than that one did right from the get-go. I probably would have got this for Wii U if it actually was released on it, seeing as I don't have any other home console ATM. Oh well, I didn't expect it to come to Wii U.. yet it still manages to disappoint.
I think a new "Legend of the River King" title would be interesting, too. I never played the originals, but as a fan of fishing and RPG's, they've always appealed to me. There's a good chance I'd buy it if they made a new one for 3DS or Wii U especially, heh.
Wii U game please. Let's hope they finally localize Fantasy Life, as well. Wasn't there news that it'd be localized back in April..? We haven't heard anything since.
I'm expecting them to give a release date for the new Harvest Moon 3DS before E3 though. I don't know why they'd save that for E3 when we already know it exists..
Harvest Moon Wii U on the other hand though, that'd be a VERY pleasant surprise to show at E3.
Wow, she looks better than expected. The use of the phantom/golem from Spirit Tracks makes it that much more interesting. I think that was a really cool mechanic in that game and I'm glad to see it get more recognition.
@Blastoise-san I was thinking that when I was playing Pokemon Y and growing the berries. It would be cool to see a Pokemon game in a different light, not just them fighting. Different pokemon helping you with different things around the farm. Pokemon that could actually come to cause destruction that you can catch. Have squirtles out water crops while bulbasaurs plant them.
Not sure if you've played it but it could have elements like the game "Viva Pinata" yeah.. it sounds like a horrible game, but if you like pokemon and farm-type games.. it's actually really good. A Pokemon game like that would probably be really popular with some more in-depths gameplay like mentioned above.
Looks.. different. Always enjoyed the Harvest Moon series, so I'm definitely interested. It's nice to see that they are taking a new approach with multiplayer. Seems like there are a ton of animals, too. Maybe you'll be running a Zoo? o_O
So.. what kind of game is this? I mean, I've watched some gameplay and it looks like an RPG.. but what ELSE is it? Seems like there is tons of dialogue. That and a grown man running around with a bunch of children battling stuff.
@SavoirFaire I definitely agree that the campaign is too short, but the challenges are really fun. I haven't bought all the DLC, but I bought the $4.99 released at the beginning of December and it's really good. Well worth the $4.99.
Not surprised nor disappointed. I wasn't expecting this until winter 2014. I want them to take their time with this one and make it amazing as it can be.
Very good article, if I didn't have a Wii U, this would make me want one. I knew it was going to be the system to have back when they announced WW Bundle though.. so I got it day of release. I'm glad, too. Mario 3D World is an amazing game and like many have said before, it's the best one since Galaxy. Don't get me wrong, the 2D games were good and 3D land was alright, but this blows them out of the water. I like how he stated that the levels felt alive and felt the most alive out of any Mario game ever, well, I'd like to go ahead and say this game is one of the most "alive" feeling games ever, as a whole. I'm excited for what's to come on the Wii U.
It's a little off topic, but I'd really like to see a Harvest Moon game with similar graphics and textures, as well as the wind blow option of the gamepad. I just think that could really bring that game to life and make it that much more vibrant. Hopefully Natsume does that someday.
@Caryslan I still think that the Wii Fit Trainer is a hilarious and good fit for the game. I wasn't disappointed one bit when I saw her introduction. Now, on the other hand, if and when they announce Mii's as a playable character, that will be a waste of a character space. All because people want to play as Reggie.. that's far worse than the Wii Fit Trainer.
I think I played this before and kind of liked it.. maybe I'll check it out on the Wii U, if it's a reasonable price that is. The fact that it has online play makes me want it more. Wii U is severely lacking in that area.
I have this strange feeling that instead of releasing a 3D remake of Majora's Mask they are going to make the Zelda U a Majora's Mask sequel. I for one know I wouldn't mind returning to Termina in any way, shape or form.
@rjejr I agree with you to an extent, mostly with that Ice level. It always felt like the levels should have ended after fighting Vorkken. Other than that though, I loved the game.. it's still up there as my possible Wii U game of the year. My biggest grudge with it though is the fact that I just can't get platinum on the final boss and unlock Bayonetta.. that stupid flight part is just too much for me. Even on Very Easy if you get hit once it ruins every chance of getting a platinum trophy. -_-
@rjejr I was thinking VGX would be the perfect place to announce and show off that Pokemon fighting game they teased in that video a couple months ago. They really need to show something that has a chance of being the center of attention.
Personally I hope they announce something new instead of showing gameplay of stuff we already know is coming.. Reggie made it sound like it was gonna be big, but who knows. They've hyped stuff before that was a let down.
@B-Squared In Zelda Wii U, you won't actually play as Link at all. You'll be playing Tingle. On a serious note, I agree with you. The more characters they bring into action, the better. As long as it doesn't become to convoluted, which I don't think is something you'd have to worry about.
@MrMario02 I was expecting and kind of hoping for him considering that was my favorite Donkey Kong for the SNES.. let's hope he still makes an appearance as a playable character. It's cool that Cranky will be playable though.. I'm betting his character "gimmick" (for lack of a better word) will be his beard.
This was on 60 Minutes last night here in the US. The guy said the EARLIEST this could possibly happen would be 2015 and that isn't very likely. I'd be surprised if we see this before the next 10 years is up. They're going to have to go through a lot of regulations and tons of coding to get this thing perfect before it goes into action and it has to be perfect.
That being said.. I think it's a cool idea and wouldn't mind having same day delivery of games from Amazon. I wouldn't have to worry about having people steal my stuff though since I live out in the country with like.. 2 neighbors acres away. I can imagine living in an apartment or bad neighborhoods where people would steal your items.. or the whole delivery bot for that matter, lol. I'm sure they'll place some heavy federal laws much like the post office when and if this ever actually happens. We'll see.
That picture of Fox getting struck by Link looks gorgeous.. I'm really liking that red/black low health/strong hit effect. Hopefully it isn't too obnoxious though.
@MrWalkieTalkie I couldn't agree more. I just don't get it.. I mean, I know why, but it's awful. The companies have managed to rile up a mass amount of fan-boys to go out and eat up whatever they spit out instantly without second thought. I don't remember seeing such terrible release titles for systems, ever. It's just bad. Yet people are eating it up. I'm not saying the systems won't get better games.. but odds are, they won't come for 6-12 months from now. Much better to wait for the system to get a lower price and work out it's bugs. People are just in a frenzy for these new products and don't care. Like you said.. way over-hyped and boy has it worked.
@Dark_Link I agree. It needs a couple mature exclusives and a western studio would definitely be able to come up with something that would have that appeal. I think Retro could do it but we need more than just one solid western company. The games going to have to be a FPS or a survival horror, as well. It doesn't have to be too violent but it definitely has to feel "cool" to appeal to the sad but typical gamers that saturate the market right now.. therefore, it's going to have to blow the competition out of the water and force them to buy a Wii U to play this "must have" game. Too bad the typical gamer is so obsessed with graphics right now and the Wii U is a bit behind in that area compared to the other systems. Thing is, I don't think Nintendo is really after this crowd anyways. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like a darker more mature game from them. I have hope we'll get something in that vein again some day. Eternal Darkness is one of my favorite Nintendo games to date.
@PvtOttobot I think that's pretty much the case everywhere right now. I finally convinced one of my friends to get a Wii U but there is no way I'd be able to get my other friends too.. not unless it comes out with some must have RPG's or an amazing EXCLUSIVE FPS that isn't Metroid. MAYBE... just maybe when SSB comes out.

If you're on the fence about getting a Wii U.. nows the time to get off and buy it. This is a great deal and Wonderful 101 is one of it's best games.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Emphasizes the Wii U's Unique Content in Sales Pitch
@PvtOttobot I think that's pretty much the case everywhere right now. I finally convinced one of my friends to get a Wii U but there is no way I'd be able to get my other friends too.. not unless it comes out with some must have RPG's or an amazing EXCLUSIVE FPS that isn't Metroid. MAYBE... just maybe when SSB comes out.
