Yu Suzuki and Tetsuya Mizuguchi are my two absolute favourite game designers of all time, so anything new by these guys is an instant purchase even if it lacks inspiration. That said, great review, as always Tom.
As a HUGE DC fan, I picked this up at launch and it's an enjoyable game, but, as mentioned in the review, it really does need some performance patches. That said, it's still playable, and above all... Fun!
@Morph Agreed, I loved my Saturn, so many great games - Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force III, Dragon Force, Guardian Heroes... I could go on... and on!
I know we're only including Nintendo games here, but for me, it will always be the arcade in Shenmue, playable versions of Outrun and Hang On made a fantastic game even better.
Until I bought a Switch I had never played, or was even remotely interested in Visual Novels... now I love 'em! Personal recommendations of recent ones I have experienced would be Sea Bed and Tokyo School Life, with the former novel being a personal fave, a beautifully realised and elegantly touching story about friendship and love.
@jump I have actually just got back from my local gaming emporium with my copy of the game, like yourself I love DC Comics so have been looking forward to this release quite a bit to be honest, it's a lot of fun so far!
@Shiryu I absolutely love the Speccy port of the original Renegade, still the very best version of that game (at least in my opinion) and Target Renegade took everything great about the original and dialled it up to 11! I shall be buying Eight Dragons for it's retro aesthetic and Renegade vibes!
@BloodNinja Though the original in the series will always be my fave, I too would love to see Dark Souls 2 appear on the Switch, a very worthy successor to the original. Would love to spend more time in Majula in handheld form!!
@Kang81 Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear about your father's situation, it's heartbreaking watching someone you love steadily decline. Sending my very best wishes to yourself and family.
Thanks for the review, my mum is in the later stages of dementia and it's upsetting and hard to watch her slowly slip away mentally. Though I will say she's looked after in a fantastic residential home that specialises in dementia care, and is, in herself, quite happy. I will purchase this game straight away to throw my support behind the devs involved.
@nessisonett I was coming here to make the exact same point you just have about Jarman's Blue, though I shall now refrain, for you have explained it with much more eloquence than I could have, thanks.
How thoroughly disappointing, Yuji Naka is my absolute favourite game designer of all time, I was really hoping this would be a modern equivalent to the excellent Nights, ho-hum.
@andyg1412 Conversely, my first Power A Mario pad lasted just over 3 years before it started to drift on the left analogue stick, but then it only cost £20. I picked up another Animal Crossing themed one six months ago, which is still working as new. For the money, they are decent controllers.
@GannonBanned It was a fantastic third person Bond game, starring the likeness and voice of Daniel Craig, and because it was made by the amazing Bizarre Creations, the driving sequences in it were sublime. I loved it on my XB360 and highly recommend it, it's not too expensive either.
@GannonBanned I don't think I actually played that one, but also enjoyed Everything or Nothing and Bloodstone by the bombastic (but now sadly defunct) Bizarre Creations... ah heck, now I need to play some Project Gotham Racing!!
@GannonBanned I would absolutely love a remastered version of 007: Nightfire and Agent Under Fire, such fantastic Bond games that never really got the attention they deserved because of the substantial shadow of (the admittedly brilliant) Goldeneye.
@bluemage1989 Agreed, Whinging is in common usage in the UK. I do find it rather amusing that KingMike complains it's a word from the twelfth century whilst typing in a language originally conceived in 5th century Britain! Lol.
@GrailUK I absolutely love Winter Heat and Athlete Kings, such fond memories of multi-player with friends back in the day! Thanks for the reminder (and great list!)
@Apportal_SMM2 Agree, it was a lovely post. Always amazes me that people click on a post they have no interest in, only to comment that they have no interest in said post!
This is fantastic news! one of the very best two player strategy games of yesteryear. Have fond memories of kicking my brother's butt on this constantly... so he probably won't be too happy by its release!!
Thanks for the review, game looks interesting enough, yet I would much rather see Sega's absolute classic Virtual On being brought back from the grave!
