Re: Madden NFL Is Skipping Nintendo Systems For The First Time Since 1991

@Dpullam
I am a newbie myself. The place is cool at times, and I appreciate people not being blind fanboys, but the pessimism and mean-spiritedness of some people here is not cool OR what I joined this site to see. Honestly, I only started following gaming on the internet closely after the Wii U launched and beginning to see that the Internet can be a rough place...

@SCAR392 @QuickSilver88
Good to know there are people in these forums with brains. Honestly, how people are not expecting PS4 and 720 to have growing pains too is beyond me. Just you wait, they are going to have a rough start too, especially since they are releasing around the same time and at a time Wii U will be getting AAA hits.

And about third parties, yeah....Nintendo was SHAFTED! Here's the thing. Third parties always whine about how Nintendo's games dominate them in the sales charts. So the idea Nintendo had (as well as with 3DS), was to let third parties shine with no BIG first party games to compete with and have them promote their games on the console. But unfortunately, third parties gave Nintendo the finger...TWICE. And come this Christmas when sales spike, you'll be hearing all these third parties whining about their games not selling. sigh Sometimes you just can't win with people.

Re: Let Your Creative Juices Flow By Designing A Mascot For SEGA Japan

NintendoPro64

While Sonic may not be getting replaced as company mascot, I do feel that Sega needs a new IP that really appeals to Japanese gamers. Thing is, even during his heyday of the Genesis Sonic never really left a big mark in Japan. It was mostly the SNES's turf. And sales of Sonic games in recent years reflect his low popularity.

@hydeks
I agree. A lot of websites need to do a better job wording the titles in their articles. I almost lost it when I read the title for that Talking Point story about how Nintendo could get the jump on the PS4 and 720.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Changing the Media Game at E3

NintendoPro64

Are you kidding me? This is a BRILLIANT move! Think about. Sony and Microsoft will be showing the full features of their new consoles for the FIRST time! Nintendo could come roaring in with all the software they want. They just can't "win" E3. Furthermore, what good IS E3 anyway? E3 is useless. It's not a good marketing event. Anyone who watches it probably likes to inform themselves on the Internet. Casuals couldn't give 3 dimes about it. It's really just become a place to chit chat with investors. Nintendo is being smart. By splitting the event into smaller ones, they won't have to worry about cramming their conference into 1 1/2 hours. They can give the press the demonstrations, show their fans the goods through directs, and save the boring business jazz for retailers and investors. It also gives Nintendo a chance to look this dumb journalists in the eye! (Seriously have seen how poorly this story has been interpreted.) At first I was disappointed to here this, but after thinking about it, it truly makes sense. E3 is not as mainstream with the world as you think Nintendolife. Winning E3 means nothing. Only dedicated gamers care. Casuals will only be reached through marketing and exposure and that will be done through all the smaller events. Smart move Nintendo. Smart indeed.

Re: Pikmin 3

NintendoPro64

I wish America was getting this sooner. Oh well, at least Japan is getting this in July! Iwata making 3DS Pikmin videos is a smart move. Japanese gamers are flipping over the 3DS and will take notice of the Pikmin videos, especially if they get good front page notice. I feel with the right marketing, it could really help start the Wii U comeback and give the Wii U a good lead on PS4. Many don't realize it, but Sony has put themselves in the perfect position to get booted right of Japan. Nintendo just needs to capitalize on it and get some big Japanese games out for the console before PS4 arrives! Some RPGs as well as Mario Kart, Pokémon, Kirby, Zelda, etc could really do it!

Re: Pandora's Tower

NintendoPro64

Clearly, Iwata has done a good job of getting Japanese devs on their side. I really think they can take over the Japanese market if they get out some big first party games and core RPG's out in Japan before the PS4 arrives. A hyped up sequel to this game would also help.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Staff Favourites - Super NES

Seeing this just raises my hopes for the Wii U: To be the first Nintendo home console since SNES to have a library comprised of both good first AND third party games! Even if its in the arm race (which really pointless now), I feel that Nintendo can gets its sales to surge this holiday, it can easily be considered for multiplat support alongside PS4 and Xbox 720. C'mon E3! Get here already!

Re: Nintendo’s Bill Trinen: 2013 Is The Year When The 3DS "Takes Off"

NintendoPro64

I must say, I am quite impressed with the 3DS. Why? Because even in this tougher world, it's actually OUTPACING the DS. And everyone here is right about how this is the year the 3DS takes off. A while back, I was worried about how sales weren't booming in the west. But then when I came across an old sales chart for the DS, you know what I found? The DS sold in the EXACT same pattern! It sold well at launch and got a big boost due to Mario games, only for things slowed down a bit. For a while, the only hot region was Japan. US and Europe weren't jumping into it. But as soon as Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, the DS became a world hit! Here's a chart on Wikipedia detailing this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_sales

And what everyone is saying about exposure is also why I am positive the Wii U will be hit too after this year. The problem is that Wii U is basically your "average" console, unlike the Wii which was a phenomenon so its performance broke home console trends. Truth is, A LOT of home consoles (even the PS2), had a rough to average first year on the market because the masses tend to stick to current stuff for a while. It usually falls in the hands of the fanbase or dedicated gamers to increase exposure to the masses. And to do this, you need make the console adequate, and bring a hit game in. For the the PS1 it was Final Fantasy 7. For PS2, it was Grand Theft Auto III. For Xbox 360, it was Halo 3. For PS3, it was Metal Gear Solid 4.

Now we look to the Wii U. It's first year is certainly rough, but it looks Nintendo is definitely going to give their fanbase a reason to buy a Wii U after E3 (and likely before the competition arrives). Then once the Nintendo fanbase makes the plunge, Wii fans and casuals will finally take notice and adopt the system to reasonable numbers. This why I know the Wii U can succeed and also why I am glad it has launched for first.

And as for the 3DS, keep it up! You'll become the handheld PS2 and make the DS proud in no time!

Re: Pikmin 3 Arrives in North America on 4th August

Pikmin 3 has a release date. You know, the Gamecube was my only console as a kid and when I was little I remember seeing Pikmin commercials. I sadly missed Pikmin 1, but was able to get Pikmin 2 for my birthday. To this day, it is one of my FAVORITE games, TOP 10, and as a long time Pikmin fan whose waited so long to play this gem, all I have to say is this....

I am SO with you guys. Seriously, on every article, I always see people whining over silly things, being faithless or pessimistic, or criticizing Nintendo unnecessarily. Reggie was right. The really IS no way of pleasing Nintendo fans.

Re: A New Yoshi's Island Title is Coming to 3DS

NintendoPro64

AWESOME! Yoshi's Island is BACK! Unlike a lot of butthurt people here, I actually LIKED the DS game. But I agree in that it doesn't hold a candle to the SNES one! I actually got as a kid for GBA and STILL have it! I am also liking the art style. I hope Wario and Peach get new platforming adventures of their own soon. As for this: GREAT TO SEE YOSHI BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY AGAIN!

@Chriiis
Yeah, its like an editor from IGN (yeah that place) said. When you're a Nintendo fan, you have to own both consoles because Nintendo generally sends the love to one at a time. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we didn't a whole of the 3DS games in the first half of next year.

Re: New 3DS Nintendo Direct to Broadcast on 17th April

NintendoPro64

@DerpSandwich
Nothing could have been worse than when they censored Mortal Kombat on the SNES or when they released the Virtual Boy. Remember, most of the bad press is exclusive to the Internet and the mass market doesn't really go the Internet. I mean if the Internet DID reflect the mass market, than NSMB2 wouldn't be selling so well.
