Grasshopper Manufacture is my favourite developer outside of Nintendo by the way. Just thought I should mention that.

He has said before now that Travis won't return as his story is finished now, and he'd use a new protagonist for NMH3.

A lot of people bought at least two consoles this generation too, Wii still sold the most. I'm not sure Wii U will do anywhere near the sales the Wii did but it's silly to say Nintendo are done if people buy a second console.

To anyone feeling down about the lineup, I recommend watching the developer interviews on the Wii U's eShop. They've changed what I originally felt about some of these titles for the better.

To be honest I'll probably have trouble fitting in all the games coming out on Wii U before next year, so I really don't really see a problem with the lineup. Sure, a proper 3D Mario would of been nice but I'm sure it's already in the works, and Super Mario 3D World still looks great anyway.

@dumedum They promised the share holders it'd be out be the end of the fiscal year (April 2014) so I expect them to release it in March or they may get into trouble. It's not quite as simple as saying why didn't they focus their efforts on MK8 and push Zelda WW HD back, it's different teams working on these games, they can't just drop what they're doing and learn how to make another franchise that they've never worked on before. You can bet the Zelda team is working on WW HD, LttP 2 and Zelda U simultaneously so I'm pretty sure they're flat out at the moment anyway. Nintendo probably pushed MK8 until next year so that they have a steady flow of 'must have' games coming out throught-out the year rather than just the Xmas season.

I know a lot of people feel cheated that this won't be out by Xmas and that Nintendo have missed an opportunity to sell systems this holiday season, but is three months longer that much to wait? If parents are buying systems for Xmas, they'll still need to pick up a Wii U this holiday season in order to play Mario Kart 8. I doubt very much they'll wait a further 8 months until Xmas 2014 to play it.

@Cesco My thoughts exactly. I thought December 2013 would of been a very rushed 'proper' Mario 3D game anyway, so hopefully a true sequel will be out towards the end of next year. I will look forward to 3D World in the meantime though.

Told you so. When Iwata told the shareholders that it'd be out by the end of the fiscal year, that means April 2014. This website misunderstood that, and said it'd be out by the end of this year, getting a lot of people's hopes up.

If Nintendo was to ever take this advice and act on it, I think that would ruin the whole Nintendo thing for me.

Microsoft could of prevented this backlash just by adding backwards compatibility. I own loads of 360 games (never bought the PS3), but with the lack of BC they've made it easier for me to jump ship to the PS4.

It's up to number 10 on the Amazon.co.uk movers and shakers chart! The timing of the E3 direct is going to be perfect for Nintendo.

I'm one of the 'I hope this reaches its goal, but this guy isn't seeing a penny from me' crowd. Actually I hope it falls shy of the goal and Nintendo buys it out from them. I wonder if that's what Precursor are hoping too?

@Prof_Elvin_Gadd Yes, I did read the article, but the overall vibe was not as positive as I was hoping for a series of this caliber. 7 is great but it seems like the series is starting to slip. I'll still buy it though as I love these games and don't mind their difficultly.

That's a shame was hoping for a little higher as I love this series.

I think you'll be able to buy GBA games on the Wii U and transfer them to your 3DS. It's been hinted at recently and makes sense as it forces people to purchase a Wii U (and 3DS) if they want GBA games they can play portably.

How about supporting the eShop with Okami HD? Just a thought.

I'm more disappointed now than I was a few hours ago. Surely a HD digital only version wouldn't be that hard to make for Wii U?

Had my fingers crossed for a HD remake for the Wii U. I own the Wii one though so I should probably just carry on with that for the time being.

Nintendo still never said Mario Kart U is coming this year, just that it'll be released before April 2014 (end of the fiscal year).

I've never played Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, so I look forward to trying it when it comes out in Europe. Hopefully my classic SNES controller will have arrived by then.

I don't care about it personally but I think it would be for Nintendo if it did come to Wii U.

Going to hold out on quadruple dipping with Mega Man until this Wii U/3DS transfer thing comes to light a bit more (if it does).

With the new NOE promotion I plan to pick this up as my free game, as I will be purchasing Animal Crossing, and already own Luigi's Mansion and FE:A.

I should take a leaf out of Luigi's book.

@LzQuacker I'm aware that the UK usually pay more than the US for products, especially physical items. But some companies do actually offset it slightly, for example the recent Xbox sale had a very fair conversion system in place. It certainly wasn't the straight dollars into pounds conversion that Nintendo usually do.

Nintendo, Nintendo... $1.50 does not work out to £1.50, its actually more like £1.00.

Wasn't there a theory that Nintendo was deliberately holding back on the marketing side of things until the new update came out?

Maybe they just need to sit it out for this year? They're not showing any hardware like the other two will be, so their presentation will be probably be over shadowed anyway. This may also be another strategy for them to show they're not actually trying to compete with Sony and Microsoft... The Nintendo Directs are good and obviously cheaper for Nintendo to make. They may not appeal to a broader audience, but then again all gaming websites watch them and then post whatever's been revealed anyway, much like E3.

The Rayman challange app is WAY better than I was expecting! Ubisoft may well of won me over.

Where does it say it'll be out this year? As far as I'm aware the 'fiscal year' runs from April 1st to March 31st. That may mean a 2014 Q1 release for Mario Kart...

@MANIAC911 But it takes time to update the control scheme in each manual individually. It's also been hinted that they'll be introducing a system where you only have to buy VC on Wii U or 3DS, rather than buying the same game twice, which may take time to implement.

They have to rewrite each manual individually though.

@Steveovig I mean with all the Wii U system problems thus far, they probably don't want to upload a mass amount of games just in case there are teething problems with the new VC.
