@JohnRedcorn I see your point but the difference is sports coaches can make immediate changes. It's a lot harder to bring in changes when you have a new-ish product on the market, especially one that you hoped would have a 5-6 lifespan. People hope for change when a new political leader is brought in, but they usually end up wading through the mess and red tape the previous leader had left in place, instead of actually enforcing changes for the better.
Why do some people think that firing Iwata will be an overnight fix for Nintendo's dismal sales? It's not going to help Nintendo release more games, or even rush a new console out the gate. Iwata knows the situation better than anybody and if he wants to carry on as president of Nintendo, then I think we should respect that.
@Ony Well I think Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been finished for a while now personally. It seems a lot of people think it got pushed back to stagger releases throughout Q1 2014, although that could be incorrect. So a new Metroid could well be in development by now, and I wouldn't be surprised after Reggie's skirting around the subject on VGX.
It took me a little while to get into Pikmin 3 due to the Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Gamepad combination, but as soon as I got the workflow down I absolutely loved the experience. The attention to detail in Pikmin 3 was incredible, I especially liked the descriptions of the fruit (not just their given names). Wonderful stuff.
According the research analyst David Gibson, that works out at about 11% digital sales for ALBW (not including the bundle), and around 7% digital sales for SM3DW.
@Zael Your interpretation of a feminist is completely misinformed. There may be some male-hating women out there but that is not a feminist by definition. Feminism is about women wanting equal rights to men (and rightly so). It's no wonder some women still feel oppressed when this sort of backlash takes place.
I wonder if Nintendo will ever bring StreetPass to the Wii U? Collect hits on the 3DS and then through NNID have them made available on Wii U, or at least the earned Play Coins. I guess I'd just love to see more interaction between the two systems.
@IceClimbers I agree, but based on Sakurai's previous releases I think 2014 is quite optimistic. Regarding the rumoured Spring release, considering the game is still in development it's unlikely Nintendo could pull of the localisation and necessary promotion by then. I honestly think they'll stagger all major first party releases in future anyway, just in case there happens to be any third party delays (Rayman Legends anyone?)
I can't see it coming out anytime close to Mario Kart 8's arrival unfortunately, which is due by Spring if it's to fall within this fiscal year. Nintendo have made a point of spacing out releases throughout 2014, so that there's no repeat of the drought of games we saw earlier this year. We'll be lucky to see Smash before 2015.
Tim Schafer was my personal highlight of this awful show, he didn't take any nonsense from that Joel moron. I pulled out after No Man's Sky, which was the right thing to do according to the article.
I played this from start to finish over the weekend, which was the first time in 20 years. I've dabbled with the various re-releases since then but this is the definitive version in my experience. Not the best Sonic game but easily worth the asking price. I hope we see other entries in the series get the 3D makeover.
Just had a quick whirl through the Green Hill and Marble zones. It looks and plays great, and there's a ton of different options in the settings menu. Easily the best 3D remake I've experienced so far, definitely worth the £4.09 asking price. Also, no 50Hz slowdown this time around.
It sounds like a lot of blood, sweat and tears have gone into these 3D classics. I'll definitely be showing my support by picking up 3D Sonic the Hedgehog later on. Now that the GigaDrive is in place they should be able to pump out the second series of 3D classics a little quicker than the first. Fingers crossed the hardware GigaDrive becomes a reality someday.
It's sad but understandable that Knack would outsell SM3DW, it's one of a few exclusives for a brand new, much hyped system. Even if the game got bad reviews, PS4 owners would want to pick up a few 'new' titles that show off their console's graphical prowess, which Knack does even if it's not a great game.
@Luna-Harmony I've struggled to get the pre-order bonuses too. It seems like a lot of stores didn't get a shipment of the bonuses until this morning. According to a member of staff in Game yesterday, 'the PS4 launch has messed everything up'.
6000 stars is a bit steep for me, not that I have many stars left after claiming the Year of Luigi coin. I hope they bring back the SNES Classic Controller which was 7000 stars, I'd love a second one.
It's a cute advert, but it doesn't really give an insight to what Animal Crossing is to those who've never experienced it before. In fact, it seems more like it's aimed at New Leaf owners, to show them what to expect over the Christmas period.
I think this is probably Nintendo's most focused infographic to date. The difference between Wii and Wii U info sheet didn't really make a big deal out of 'Off-screen play', nor did it make much of MiiVerse. So basically, this is a step in the right direction for the uninformed.
@theadrock13 That's true but Wii U sales will pick up in the next six months and with steady releases such as MK8 and Smash Bros throughout next year, I honestly think third party support will pick up too. Developers would silly to put all their eggs into the PS4 and XB One whilst waiting for the install base to take off, especially as the latter is pretty much out of the running at this point. Even if the Wii U only comes second in this generation's sales, it's still going to be a good investment for those developers who back it next year.
Power, power, power... That's all anyone says about the other two consoles. What good is power without creativity? Sure, your headshot might look slightly more realistic but it's still the same old game underneath. Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 are a brilliant showcase of what can be done with less power and way more creativity, and look how good these games look visually if that's all you're bothered about. They certainly hold their own against anything the competitors were showing at E3.

Re: Video: The Top 20 Wii U Games So Far - Part Two
Great job, Rory! I'm glad Deus Ex made the top ten, that game carried me through Xmas once I'd finished with SM3DW.
Re: The Year of Luigi Officially Ends on 18th March
Hoping for a Year of Samus but Yoshi will have to do I guess.
Re: Video: Keiji Inafune Plays Some Mighty No.9, Seems Pleased
It's looking good and Inafune seems quite pleased with it too. If Inafune's happy, I'm happy.
Re: The Nikkei Reports Potential Nintendo Smartphone Strategy, to be Announced This Week
@adamical A Nintendo Zone/Channel type app was my first thought as well. I hope it's something more than that though as I rarely used either of those.
Re: Play: Mario Kart 7 with Nintendo Life - The Return
Cheers guys, got to be off now unfortunately. Probably not a moment too soon though considering I was getting absolutely trounced!

Re: Talking Point: An Unplanned Flash Sale Looked Like Retail Download Genius from Nintendo
I usually buy physical releases if possible, but these prices would definitely convert me. Unfortunately I missed out on Mario & Luigi: Dream Team...

Nice collection! It's a shame the sound guy doesn't know how to position a lapel mic though...
Re: Nintendo Network 3DS Promotion to Offer Free Super Mario Bros. Deluxe Download in Europe
I'm not quite sure why Nintendo is offering an incentive to create or link your NNID, but I'll gladly take the freebie all the same.

@unrandomsam It's been upscaled from 720p to 1080p apparently. This is so it runs at a perfect 60fps.

@Peach64 Exactly. At least the Wind Waker HD's collector's edition was created by Nintendo. This is just a cash in.

In comparison, this package makes the Ganondorf figurine edition of Wind Waker look very good value for money.
