Capcom was one of Nintendo's most valuable supporters in the days of the NES and SNES, and the company seems keen to relive those glory days now that the Wii U Virtual Console has launched.
We already know that Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Street Fighter II are inbound, but over on Capcom's official forum, fans are chattering about which titles could be next.
While Capcom isn't prepared to give exact details yet, the company is fairly candid about its support for the Wii U Virtual Console:
Many of the listed games (and others) are indeed coming, but we're working with Nintendo on the actual release dates and other details. We should have an official release schedule soon - but yes, Wii U is about to get a dose of 16-bit Capcom love
Breath of Fire 2? UN Squadron? Demon's Crest? Final Fight 3? Which Capcom title do you want to get your hands on again? Sound off in the comments section to tell us.

I want the original Breath of Fire.
treet fighter 2 the world warrior , turbo , the new challengers, super street fighter 2 turbo, super street fighter 2 the new challangers hyper turbo
Its Capcom .. Common ...
But in all honesty, Megaman 6,7 and Megaman X3
I want super nintendo in 3DS!!! no more, no less!!!
We better get Mega Man 7 this time.
Capcom knows old games sell.
Hopefully Supa Street Faita 2 with online play.
Oh man, that pic of Shin from Area 88 brings back a lot of good memories.
Anyway and sadly, "Breath of Fire" is a huge mess of copyrights because the game is by Capcom but it was licensed and localized by Square to be distributed in Europe and America. It will be much likely that "Breath of Fire II" shows up instead of the original. Sadly, it's the same copyright nightmare with "UN Squadron" because Capcom no longer holds the publishing rights to "Area 88" manga/anime on which the game is based.
Regardless, looking back at the list of games Capcom released on the SNES back in those years, that was truly the 16 bit golden age of gaming.
As for some requests: "Magic Sword", "Captain Commando", "Knights of the Round", "King of Dragons" and one of my arcade favourites "Saturday Night Slammasters".
Breath of Fire 2 please.
@Nekketsu3D
Here here!
Screw this drip feed crap and getting the same old titles....
I just don't want to see a new-old version Street Fighter every week. :I
I really wish there was an Arcade section on the Wii U Virtual Console. Give me Warriors of Fate on my Wii U please.
Dream list: NES (Megaman 2,3), SNES (Megaman X 1,2,3), GBA (Megaman Zero 1,2,3 & Battle Netwok) , can you tell I love Megaman
U.N. SQUADRON Would be sweet. Demon's crest would be nice. Here's hoping nintendo will also add online play to v.c. games.
@Nekketsu3D Why do people keep asking for that o___o it would be a horrible business strategy for Nintendo. Why give people even less incentives to buy a Wii U? (I bet you don't know about the Mother 2 hype. Earthbound's cartridges are even more expensive than a Wii U lol)
mega man 7!
it's gonna be the same releases we got on the Wii. Nothing more.
Demon's Crest
I expect we'll see Mega Man X followed by X2.
Top capcom games that were denied on wii that should come to Wii U are: Mickey's magical quest
U.N. squadron
Little Nemo
Darkwing Duck
Ducktales
Chip and dale
@HeatBombastic maybe because its the only thing capcom can sell now
I know they have to put the extra work in to emulate their boards, but capcom needs to put out the arcade versions of street fighter alpha 1, 2, 3. street fighter 3. and 1945.
@brooks83: Nah, I'm pretty sure they'll at LEAST finish the main Mega Man series. That'll be three more games right there (two NES, one SNES).
This is great and all, but honestly, Capcom didn't play that big a role in my childhood (although I do like Breath of Fire...but I have GBA versions, so...yeah), so I really don't care about most of their releases. As I've said recently...I find it difficult to care about most stuff when I really just want more Squenix support!
Saturday Night Slam Masters is what I'm hoping for.
Demon's Crest!
I would like to see as many Mega Man games as possible on there, including 7 and X3 since they went MIA on Wii.
Also, i really hope other companies are as enthusiastic about Wii U's VC. Sega, Square-Enix, Konami, Namco, Natsume, etc... I wanna see as many great titles from any retro console as possible.
I would like to see Mega Man X7.
UN SQUADRRRRRRRRRRON!!! To see that again would just make my day I can't remember whether or not if it had 2 player? If so an online mode would be just wonderful.
Also I would love to see besides UN Squadron I want every single Resident Evil from the Gamecube which is pretty much the whole series PLUS Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2 on the Eshop!!
This is HD hardware I love SNES but it's time to step it up it's time for some GAMECUBE CLASSICS and plz don't take forever Nintendo like you did with the Wii >_<
@Nekketsu3D: I 2nd that.
I love how people are whining that the Wii U VC will have the same games as the Wii...considering the service is the same anyway.
UN Squadron and Demon's Crest would make my year, but I'm not counting on it. Still, I'm looking forward to whatever they put out.
Bring something that hasn't appeared on the wii VC like pro gear.
@AMR
I would flip out if Capcom releases the battle network games.
Holy freaking crap that would be awesome!
For now, Mega Man 7 is the ONLY game I want to see from CAPCOM appear on the Wii U VC. That game imo never really got the respect it deserved by missing the Wii Shop Channel back on the Wii VC.
why would i want to re-buy these games when i already own them on the nes/snes/gba/gamecube compilations/wii, etc? Added features would be nice for like online battles or co-op depending on the game...
Incoming!! Pew pew pew!
Thank you for your support, CAPCOM!
Gimme Demon's Crest and Mega Man VII and I'll be happy.
UN SQUADRON NOW!
@Melkaticox
Well, I will not own a Wii-U unless someone gives me one, but I would buy SNES games on 3DS. I also know there are people that would buy for both platforms. Zombies Ate My Neighbors on portable... let's do it big N!
@Kevin With an option to dash.
Sorry, but I got so excited that I couldn't include the rest of the message!
Capcom can bring all of their Super NES games into VC, I wouldn't complain a bit. But having UN Squadron and Megaman 7 would simply be amazing. Magical Quest would also be a great addition. And when, when will we ever get the GBA VC on the 3DS and a GameCube VC in native 720p-1080p widescreen (like Dolphin) on Wii U? When?
But back to topic: UN SQUADRON NOW!
I actually liked Demons Crest
Lemme guess, just the games on the Wii VC?
@NINTENBOY Yes, I hope Nintendo can see there's a great potential for a GameCube VC in HD Widescreen for the Wii U eshop. We all know they can bring all the GC library in at least native 720p Widescreen, because we know that almost every game can be upscaled internally thanks to the Dolphin emulator. If they did it, I'd buy all the classic games in a heartbeat. And where's the GBA VC on 3DS?
UN Squadron was a single player game on SNES, but it was 2-player on Arcade. You know, I really miss how "homey" (in a good sense) all the game translations from arcade was on the Super NES. It wouldn't simply throw an game into the system, it was entirely rebuild from the ground up with the SNES hardware in mind and most important, with the console players in mind, whose always demanded deeper experiences than a simple arcade port. Great examples are Super EDF and Ninja Warriors Again. Gosh, how I miss those days.
I really don't mind which games they bring to the Wii U Virtual Console. I'm just satisfied that its library is being expanded.
More games is ALWAYS a good thing! Bring em on!
I can't believe they are bringing out the Original Street Fighter II. I would of Preferred the SNES version Of SUPER STREET FIGHTER II. I always Turned up the Speed to Three Stars. After you play Super Street Fighter II Fast you can't go back
I would love to see Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Even though I already Bought it on PS3. If Wii U is your First HD Console You need to Experience the HD Remix
Give us snes on the 3DS!
Demons Crest and MegaMan X would be good. But what I really want from Capcom though are their arcade games. Black Tiger, Magic Sword, Knights of the Round, King of Dragons, Ghouls n Ghosts, Strider etc. I'm just happy we're getting the Dungeons and Dragons games though.
Chip n dale, talespin, bonkers, mikey's magical quest, Aladdin, final fight, everything megaman.
Mega man X, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6.
Mega Man 7 and 8
Final Fight Arcade, 2 & 3
Street Fighter III: Third Strike with online play
Super Street Fightet IV
Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil GameCube remake through to 6.
Demon's Crest, for sure. I'd also gladly pick up Megaman X1-3, Megaman 7, and The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse.
Capcom Vs SNK 2 with online
Marvel Vs Capcom 1-3
X-Men: Children of the Atom
Street Fighter Vs X-Men (IMO better than marvel vs Capcom as it was a strong roster and still retained the 6 button layout before they reduced it down to the Vs 4 button of crossover series today.)
Devil May Cry Trilogy HD
Devil May Cry 4
DmC
Megaman Wily Wars from genesis (as the cart is over £300)
Strider
Strider returns
Strider 2
Would love to have the Mega CD Version of Final Fight
Final fight arcade would be better
mega man x series please! i never played any mega man x game before ( i did play mega man legends 1&2 for ps1, the misadventures of tron bonne for ps1 and mega man 1-4 on 3DS virtal console )
i Definetly would play demon's crest and U.N. Squadron.
I would love to finally be able to play Demon's Crest!
How about supporting the eShop with Okami HD? Just a thought.
new games please. Demon's Crest
Demon's Crest. Excellent game made with lots of love. I beat it so many times it was crazy. The hidden bosses which you could unlock were a great challenge as well. It still disturbs me greatly that the game didn't sell well at all.
I actually prefer it over the X series of Mega Man.
@Lan that's a stupid idea.
Would live to see some titles that previously missed out on the VC.
Just please don't be just every iteration of Street Fighter II.
Strider
Bionic Commando
Ducktales
Megaman 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Capcom developed some very cool games in the SNES era.
I will instantly buy for the Wii U Virtual Console any SNES Capcom games developed under the Disney license. I still remember how cool Goof Troop was.
I would also love to see Resident Evil Zero and the REmake with GamePad play. Those I would purchase on the spot.
I don't like the first two Breath of Fire games, honestly. They're just so clunky. Plus the SNES original of BoF2 is badly localized. I do like the others, particularly the PS2 one, though.
I'd like to see Demon's Crest, personally.
@EdwardCORE I just don't see Nintendo doing anything with this. They've passed the buck on making these games any better than they were on their original release time and time again.
Just as an example — GameBoy games can't be colored in any way, unlike how they were handled on the GameBoy Color or even the GBA. Super Gameboy Games feature none of the enhancements on the 3DS for some reason — so for Donkey Kong 94, we're stuck with only the original black and white version. Emulators handle this perfectly, Nintendo just didn't bother.
You could go on and on with how they've handled other stuff when they release it in this manner. While I'm all for it and hope you're right, history just doesn't seem to make a case for it
@Melkaticox I think it's a terrible strategy to sell snes games on WiiU, emulators do not deliver anything new to the game, 0% optimization is a perfectly native emulation prefer playing on a super nintendo in my home. however on a portable as the nintendo 3ds, seems much more justifiable enjoy these titles. I wonder what will nintendo head?
PLEASE Mega Man 7!!
Alright Capcom. This is a great step in the right direction to keep your fans connected with you. You have a VAST amount of games and I can guarantee that most of us with multiconsoles will double dip for the Wii U versions of it. Good job.
I wouldn't mind Demon Crest since I had a chance to finally find out what the big deal was about Gargoyle's Quest. AMAZING game.
Demon's Crest
King of Dragons
Knights of the Round
Captain Commando
Breath of Fire 1-2
Final Fight 2 & 3
UN Squadron
Street Fight II (Super & Turbo)
The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse
Mega Man 7 X, X2, X3
Magic Sword
X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse
The games will be the same that are available now in Wii.
Mega Man X3! Mega Man X3!! Mega Man X3!!! Oh did I forgot to mention... Mega Man X3!??? XD It's the only X game I don't have the cartridge for. Hmm.....
Oh! They should gave the eshop Mega Man Legends 1 & 2 as well. (Chuckles)
I would freak out for U.N. Squadron, despite owning copies of both the U.S. and Japanese carts.
Breath Of Fire (Finished 3 & 4) and Street Fighter.
@softserve You mean BOF Dragon's Quarter. BOF IV is still the best.
The more and more I look at this topic, the more good choices I see lots of the Nintendo Life gamer community adding, I'm gonna add a game I bet no one ever thought to EVEN THINK OF. It goes back to an old Nintendo Life thread I took part in sometime last year. The other game that would probably and MAYBE do the most good for a Wii U VC title on the Wii U eShop would be Mega Man 8: Anniversary Collector's Edition from the SEGA SATURN. The only reason why that would be my other choice is because I think that now since we're in the Wii U era with VC games starting to pop up on the Wii U eShop , it's only right that Nintendo should be smart and try to add some of the SEGA SATURN library of games into the mix for ppl who may get tired of playing the usual suspects like NES , SNES & N64. Even though I like the idea of GBA games getting added into the mix and having a wide library variety of games to choose from, imo, let's face it people. That may not be enough for lots of gamers who might be looking around for just a bit more from something different.
get goof troop on there
CAPTAIN COMMANDO!!
One of my alltime favorite arcade games, which i haven't played in 20 years---and would LOVE any version of on the eShop.
MACK THE KNIFE!!
Knights of the Round
